I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 2 kids. The location was great and the room was very clean. However, we didn't get a good nights sleep because of the constant sirens and loud motorcycle noises all night. The front desk employees didn't seem to know any directions to any of the tourist sights and were extremely unhelpful when we had questions. The pillows had definitely seen better days. I would not stay here again.

We certainly enjoyed our visit to Chicago and a big part of that was our stay at Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown. For me, I most enjoyed the Art Deco Chicago Motor Club building which had been recently renovated and retrofitted to become what it is today. The rooms are a bit cozy but we did not mind that at all. Breakfast was good and the hotel was clean and quiet. The best part was the location! On the downside, there really was no self parking option but the valet was reasonable as far as Chicag... Nice location and a great presentation in the lobby but when you get in your room, a king bed, we couldn't move. I can't believe we paid $325+ for this room! There was a tradeshow in town so we were stuck, however they are taking advantage of people. Also be prepared for the valet only parking at $62 a night!

As trivial a complaint as this may seem, the lobby music and the elevator music were really awful. Most importantly the music in the lobby and the elevator was far too loud. Secondly it was Disco, which was completely incongruous with the otherwise, relatively nice Jazz Age themed decor. And thirdly was, for some reason different in the lobby from what was simultaneously playing in the elevators.

Very positive experience with a great location and easy access to many places! Lobby is very comfortable with a nice bar. Lots of food choices on the free breakfast buffet!!!! Easy access to buses with a short half block walk. Feels like a European boutique hotel with a very cosmopolitan flair!!! Would definitely stay there again!!!!

From the time we got there, we were impressed. The staff was very friendly and willing and able to help. Our room wasn't available upon arrival (we were early), but they gladly held our bags while we explored. When we came back and our room was available, I was impressed. We stayed in the King suite, (highly recommend). Not only was the room itself fantastic, but the view from the room was absolutely worth the price of admission. I was looking for an affordable hotel for a Saturday night downtown Chicago! Pull up out front of this historic building and the fun begins. My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in mid-June. It's in a historic Art Deco building but was completely refurbished and opened in May 2015. Our room with a king bed was a bit small and the bathroom could use a few extra shelves for toiletries, but there was a large window and high ceiling so the room was bright. Everything was very clean and seemed new (polished wood floors, sleekly designed fixtures). Our room was opposite the elevators but we never heard any corridor noise. Staff (espec... Read more

First, let me say, that the staff was helpful and courteous at every interaction. This hotel is recently renovated & clean. It is in a great location. Sound proofing is non-existent and problematic. Our initial room was #210. Would NOT recommend this room based on the volume of the street noise. This hotel was very clean and interior of the hotel was new. The rooms were a tad bit smaller, however this did not diminish my experience. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. We did hear sirens and motorcycles multiple times during the night from our room but we were on the 10th floor so the noise bounced off the buildings. It did not diminish my stay.

Additional hygiene goods are provided per request. They have razors, but they do have shaving cream, but it is little bit different than I expected. It was not a foam.

The location is ideal, just on the south side of the main shopping off Michigan Ave and a bike ride the other way to Shedd's and the art museum. I took one tip from another review and used ParkWhiz. It reduced the $68 a day valet parking (no other option provided) to $64 for 2 days of valet parking. It was the same hotel valet. No in/out privileges but who needs that when everything is a walk away. The staff was extremely service oriented. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of va... Read more

Just had the opportunity to stay at the amazing Hampton in what was once the Chicago Auto Club Building on East Wacker. What a great job of preserving the original look and feel of the lobby from the 1920's and adding all the modern amenities you'd expect from a Hampton Inn. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful and friendly. Just the best place to stay when visiting the City of the big Shoulders!

This hotel is in a great location and, for a downtown hotel, the prices are very reasonable. Most downtown hotels do not include a free breakfast but this one does. Full hot breakfast buffet. The public areas are a beautiful restoration of the old Chicago Motor Club building, built in 1929. Half block from Michigan Ave. and one block from the river walk.

Although the room was on the smaller side it was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast every morning was hot and fresh. The Bar in the lobby area had cans of domestic beer for $3.00 - wow for Chicago that is a deal. Art Deco lobby and furnishings were new and modern. Will stay at this property again.

We've stayed at Hampton Inn's many times and look for them whenever they are available. I chose this one because of the perfect location when visiting Chicago, 1/2 block from Michigan Ave. on E. Wacker Place. This 1929 Art Deco skyscraper (in it's time) is beautiful! Being the former Historic Chicago Motor Club building it does not look or feel like a typical Hampton Inn. As we were travelling with three boys between 12 and 16 years old, we chose this Hampton Inn largely for its free breakfast, free wifi, and great location. It turned out to be a good choice. Breakfast was standard hotel fare, but was abundant and much more economical than having breakfast out. The location was outstanding, accessible to everything and a couple minutes away from the red line train. The decor was charming the rooms comfortable, and the service friendly. We would stay again.

Overall a decent stay at the Hampton Inn. Breakfast is very crowded at prime times, but then again it's included with the room. Room Space is not what I was expecting for a double room at a Hampton Inn. They really skimped on space here. The decor of this location is pretty nice, as it's very modern.
