My husband along with both sets of our parents stayed here for our college graduation weekend. The location is ideal because it close to lots of great Chicago restaurants (ideal for those who don't prefer/can't walk long distances). The hotel itself is very nice with amenities such as a coffee/hot drink bar that's always stocked and a nice indoor pool/spa area. The breakfast was great with lots of different choices. What made this hotel amazing though was the staff. My mom ended up being sick in... Read more

I booked this hotel using a "third party" (website). I booked our room 4 days before our stay and got a great discount. With that being said it seemed as this was being held over our heads. I called and asked if an early check in was possible as we were coming from out of town and were planning on arriving around 2pm. Check in is at 3pm. I was told that early check in wasn't an option with my type of reservation and a room wouldn't be available until 4pm. When we checked in I asked the gentlema... Read more

I booked this hotel for a mini get way! I must say it was an excellent choice. The front desk staff were professional with exceptional customer service. The room was spacious and immaculate. Breakfast was great with a variety of hot and cold choices. This hotel is must if you're in the downtown area. Ruth Chris restaurant is also on the premises.

Great location! The on-site bar was closed -remodeling maybe - which wasn't a big deal since there are plenty of places for a nightcap just steps away. The room was stuffy and I couldn't turn the thermostat below 68 but again, that's not a big deal - I just like to sleep cold and we happened to be there on an unseasonably beautiful day. Overall the location is great and staff friendly. I'll be back.

Everything was great. The location was perfect to access restaurants and all the main attractions throughout Chicago. Breakfast had a very good variety of items. The staff was very knowledgeable and pointing out bus routes training locations and recommendations for restaurants.

This hotel is welcoming and comfortable. A Chicago value! Only down side is fire station, as sirens will go off during the night; but that is an issue in any city. Valet parking is also a good value, given the 24 hour plus time frame.

Great hotel. City is a cesspool. Homeless and unruly kids let loose in best part of town. Will not return to my previous favorite city. Don't see anyone wanting to experience these social issues on vacation.

Good location, room size and price. If you're looking to explore the downtown area, this is a great hotel to select. Use local car parking garage for ~$20 per day rate (spothero will find the best rate)

Our family stayed at this hotel during our sight seeing trip to Chicago. We were beyond impressed by all that the hotel had to offer our family. Our room exceeded our expectations and everything was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Yoshi as the front desk was so terrific and helpful and offered us lots of great advice about exploring the city. He gave us maps and talked us through the subway and bus transportation. I would stay here again and again as I received the best customer service ever from Janessa!! She went over and beyond what I expected , saving me heartache and grief had I lost those earrings. Thank you again Janessa!!

Location is great and everything was clean. Located in the heart of shopping and great restaurants. Our room was ready early. Only wish we had a better view, but otherwise it was good. As with all the restaurants in this area, parking was very expensive at $59 a day, however, they were willing to let us park starting anytime the day of checkin, before our room was ready. They allow you to keep the car in parking until 4pm.

I stayed here for one night in June while visiting NeoCon at the Merchandise Mart. The location was excellent, an easy walk to the Merchandise Mart and lots of restaurants etc nearby. We were having trouble finding two reasonable rooms in Chicago for my daughter's college graduation. This suite was recommended on line by a family with a similar situation. It worked great with the apartment style layout. Convenient to the L and shopping. The breakfast reduced the amount of money spent on food, the staff were friendly and helpful and over all this was a great hotel experience.

Very nice Hampton property, very conveniently located to many great downtown Chicago activities. Nice pool and patio, and good breakfast spread. But above all this, great people! Helpful, professional, and customer focused at the front desk, particularly Yoshi, who helped me work through several issues across my stay. I recommend this well managed hotel, and will stay there myself in the future. Thanks again for the great service and hospitality.

Illinois ST location. Our booking at the neighboring Fairfield Inn was completely messed up. Not enough beds etc. They offered pillows and blankets for the floor! So we booked at this hotel and when the rollaway we booked through central reservations was booked out, they gave us an addtional room and sent a bottle of wine! We loved the location (other than being a down the block from the Fire Dept.) only a few blocks from Michigan Avenue. We had some issues with the Corporate Hilton Hotels Reservation service but the staff at the hotel were really on our side on this one and only wanted to make things right. Our issue was that we had pre-paid through corporate but the hotel had no record of it. the mistake was 100% Corporate's but the staff more than made up for it. The staff were great. The service was great. The location is great too. We stayed over a long weekend from Friday to Monday. Friday and Saturday night the street noise was pretty loud, but is expected from a large city. The hotel does offer ear plugs, but the noise did not wake our 2 and 3 year old children that were with us. It is a nice hotel, it is a Hilton Property, and worked out great for us. We would stay again.

Great place to stay for the family. Family friendly. Affordable rates. Walking distance to many things. Great HOT breakfast in the morning. Nice pool and work out area. Only thing lacking was not an onsite restaurant. Would have been nice to have; although is down town Chicago and they give a list of restaurants and the walking distance time from the hotel. Wonderful resource when traveling from out of town. Great place! Highly recommend.

We always choose Hampton Inn because their beddings are clean and always have reasonable complimentary breakfast. For this hotel, it's location is excellent but old. The sound proof is not very good, you can hear people talking outside your room at night.

Check-in process was quick, they had wine, chocolates and a card signed by all staff waiting for us in our room when we arrived (it was our anniversary). Our room faced the Fire Department across the street which didn't bother us since my husband is a Fireman. It's nice that they offer earplugs. The breakfast and coffee were very good. The breakfast was great and the beds were comfy. The positives stopped there. The "updates" were not visible and this seemed like an advertising ploy. Our ice maker was broken, we got a standard room rather than the one I booked. The water pressure was terrible and the bathroom got very stuffy (no vent fan). This was our second stay here. It's a short walk to Michigan Avenue or a quick cab to Navy Pier. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is good but always busy. The only item that people staying might not like is it is located next to a fire house, so you may get sirens blaring while trying to sleep.

Yes, the hotel is next to a fire station, but the noise is really not that bad. You can get a room away from the street to help minimize the noise. We had great experience in Chicago and our stay at Hampton. We would recommend this hotel to anyone it is centrally located to the red line train. The beds are very soft and the breakfast was very good.

My boyfriend and I both enjoyed staying at this hotel, however this hotel is located on a busy street where cars are always honking at one another. We also didn't know it was close to a fire station either. Make sure to ask for a quieter room!! The location of the hotel is very convenient to all the city attractions and mall, easy to get around. Most of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, this hotel has what you need for a short stay - free breakfast, free WiFi and easy acce... Read more

My husband and I arrived painfully early (7am) at Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago-Downtown after a long, red eye flight. The hotel was sold out the previous night and we were told we needed to come back after noon to see if a room was ready (the standard check out time for hotels in the area). At 930am, after 2.5 hours of walking around the city, we hit a wall. We were exhausted, cranky and in need of some rest. We proceeded back to the hotel, where we were greeted by Riley Geschke. Rooms were very clean, no problems, fitness center and pool were clean and functional. Hotel has a nice terrace off the pool where guests can sit outside while having a quiet break. Suites are very nice (be aware, however, that the bathroom is off the bedroom, not off the living room).

We were looking for a location close to all attractions that Chicago offers and based on the reviews we booked our stay though expedia. We were delighted with the hotel and how soundproofed the rooms were. Housekeeping did a great job and we did ask for extra towels twice and both times we had someone delivering them to our room within 5 minutes. Also the front desk manager was very nice for letting us check in much earlier.

Frequented July 25th of 2016. As expected hampton inn quality - clean room, clean hotel. Let us check in early. Valet is somewhat pricey, but you are paying for the ability to get in and out. You could park elsewhere (I did) but I only saved 20 bucks and could Only get out once. Hotel is in a prime location. We walked to the pier and to the Hancock building and lou malnattis in an afternoon and evening. A few fire trucks nearby, bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

One of the best things about this hotel is the amazing staff. I can't say enough about Abraham (bellman) and Riley (front desk). They go out of their way to be friendly and helpful! The location is great: you can walk everywhere. It's my favorite place to stay in Chicago.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hampton. I would echo other people that the only flaw was that our window looked right out onto the fire station across the street and we heard the sirens in the middle of the night. Our daughter's room was around the corner and she never heard a thing. Avoid rooms on the west side. Otherwise, a wonderful stay: 3 blocks to Michigan Ave, great restaurants and access to public transportation. Nice staff, great breakfast, pool, hot tub, business and fitnes... Read more

Rooms are dingy and carpet dirty, desperately needs a makeover My bathroom floor was sticky and unclean Lobby area is decent and updated leading you to believe the rest of the hotel Is in good shape. Off late Hampton breakfasts have been disappointing at best- limited options Western omelette only instead of just a plain cheese which would serve people that do not eat meat! I just spent one night at this hotel while attending a conference. I generally like Hampton Inns and this was a reasonably nice one. I had no problems while I was there. Check in was fine and internet was included as a Hilton HHonors member. Breakfast was standard fare but not bad. You could hear the street somewhat and the view out the window was not exciting even in the higher rooms. I was able to walk around to the locations downtown that I needed to get to and there are plenty of places to e... Read more

This hotel was amazing. It was extremely clean. Everything in my room worked, which was a first for me. The hotel was very pleasant and safe. The complimentary breakfast was fully stocked at all times. The pool was refreshing after a long day. We had a conference on site and the room we were in was great. I highly recommend it to anyone who is traveling.

Stayed here with my family. Hotel was clean and staff where helpful however breakfast was appalling. Hot options included scrambled eggs/turkey sausage only and was served on paper plates. Not enough seating. Also, the sofa bed basically collapsedin the middle. Staff where helpful in bringing me a rollaway bed However it was like a prison bed so we had to layer the mattresses. Rooms where spacious and bathrooms clean. Staff helpful. Good location close to attractions and sights.

I recently stayed for almost a whole week in the Holiday Inn & Suites, Downtown Chicago. The room I was given for the first night was in bad condition. The main point was that the ceiling exhibited a moist discolored area from which a strong unpleasant odor was originating. After I had complained about that fact I could move into another room which was okay. Unfortunately, this was the only good news I can report about my experience with this hotel: Upon my return in Germany, I realized that d... Read more

My room was clean, the bed was AMAZING (I've described it as sleeping on a cloud) and I heard NO noise from outside. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel as I was meeting my daughter for breakfast, but I did grab a "to-go" breakfast bag (soft granola bar, blueberry muffin, apple, bottle of water and Arnold Palmer tea/l... We utilized this hotel for a quick visit to the city in order to catch a baseball game. Quick check in was ably handled by Riley. He let us now that our room was not yet ready but found another room (away from the fire station, as another reviewer recommended). Riley asked my daughter if she'd like some snacks (gratis) and water for our room as well. Further, he explained how to reach the redline train to get to the ballpark and provided a map. The room (1008) itself overlooked the pool and... Read more

Hotel is in a nice central location. We were in Chicago for only 3 days so wanted to be able to get in a lot of activities. We were able to walk to Millennium Park, the River, and many restaurants. The Red Line to Wrigley is one block away and we took the bus to other tourist locations such as Navy Pier and Willis Tower. The staff was always friendly when we entered and exited the building. I wanted to only give this property 2 stars, but it does have some things going for it so I settled at 3. My main issue is that they promised some credits to my account that did not materialize. We had major issues with internet (lack of) in all 3 rooms we had, including their ‚??best room‚?? a larger corner suite that was the top price for the rooms during this period. Went with 42 friends to tour the sites of the city. Hotel was very nice. Slow in checking in because room was not ready.
