I booked this through Trip Advisor for a trip to do a 5K at Wrigley Field. It is in a section of the city well within walking distance to Wrigleyville for anyone. It is 200 feet from an el station, which is an added bonus. Check in was fine, and the staffer was very friendly and informative. The elevator is tiny - it has a maximum of three passengers. It's pretty slow and creaky as well, but it does what it is designed to do, so that worked. The halls outside the room smell old. It isn't necessa... Read more

We picked the City Suites Hotel for its location and we were not disappointed. Although it is a smaller hotel it is a quaint setting. The building is easy to locate. There's tons of shops and places to eat close by. Plus access to transportation not far down the block. We will be booking here again if ever headed back to Chicago.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in Rm 306 which had a great view of the brick building next door with a sliver of sky above. The room was clean and pleasant otherwise. Kudos to the housekeepers who over our four nights kept our room super clean; so a big thank you to them. We had a suite with two doubles and a fold out couch in the living room. Never used the couch as a bed but it was comfortable as a couch. We got the munchies and actually purchased the in-room snacks and was surprised o... Read more

First, the pictures on their website aren't accurate. The entryway looks so different in person I didn't think the taxi dropped us off at the correct place. The building is old and the neighborhood is a little sketchy. It is right next door to the L so there are usually a lot of people loitering around waiting for the trains. The hallways are narrow and carpet is worn and looks dirty.. Our queen room was very, very small. The window looked into a narrow space between the hotel and the buil... Read more

We stayed there after a Cub's game. Luis and Magy were very helpful to advise us on where to go for a night on the town! Luis came to our room and gave us the information we asked for. Very friendly! The room was a little small for the price, but it was a great location and well worth it.

We stayed for one night. We got into town on Wednesday around noon. We went to a Cubs game that started at 1;20. We stopped by the Hotel just for a parking space and planned on checking in after the game. The staff was very helpful in telling us where we could park, (off property,$23 for 24 hours). We then walked to Wrigley Field and back to the Hotel. We then walked to the parking garage and wheeled our luggage back to the Hotel. Location is Great! Staff was friendly, breakfast was included alb... Read more

This is a smaller hotel with a great location. It's steps from the train, within blocks of Wrigley Field and a very nice surrounding neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and offered several suggestions of places to go. Although a little pricey (what hotel isn't in Chicago), our family will be returning to this property on future trips.

If you are expecting a metal and glass mega-hotel bypass the City Suites Hotel. If you want a clean (though somewhat dated) room close to Wrigley and tons of great restaurants with dirt cheap come-and-go parking ($22) this is your place. The staff is friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make certain your stay is great. The in-room snacks and beverages are inexpensive by any standard and the continental breakfast is fresh and ample. Each room has the beverage refrigerator plus a min... Read more

Perfect hotel if you are going to Wrigley or visiting someone in the Lakeview area. Stayed here for the James Taylor concert on June 30th. After the concert we stopped at some of the bars on Clark St and had only 5-6 block walk to get back to the hotel! Check in was super easy.....when you arrive, just park in the 15 min loading zone directly in front of the building, turn your hazard lights on, take your luggage, lock your car and walk right in...after checking in, take your luggage to the ro... We took advantage of the early noon check-in and was not disappointed. Jackie was quite helpful and very knowledgeable of what to do and where to go. We also selected an extra amenity of fresh fruit delivered to our room. Spot on! :-) Highly recommend taking advantage of the $22 a day for parking with unlimited in and out of a secure garage. We will definitely stay here again. Nice and homey feeling, and other guests were pleasant to visit with, especially during breakfast. Both thumbs up ... Read more

This is perfect. It's right in the middle of the Michigan Avenue shopping area. Considering it's a city hotel, I was not expecting a lot of room. We had a room with two double beds and it was very spacious. The room was clean and the decor was modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a bonus. This was a great value and I would definitely stay here again!

We needed a place to stay last minute while in town on business. We booked for just one night at first & planned to find somewhere else for the remainder of the weekend, but liked it so much we decided to stay there the whole time. The rooms were small, but clean. There were snacks & a stocked mini fridge that u could purchase from. The staff were all friendly & helpful. The free bfast wasn't the worst I've had, but wasn't the best either. We recently stayed at City Suites Hotel and it was perfect for our Wrigley Field ballgame. Just a few short blocks, easy walking distance, to see the Cubs play. The area was safe, with lots of restaurants, and literally next door to the Belmont red line train station. We never heard a train! The complimentary breakfast was good, with plenty of options. Our room was clean and the bed was fine. While not a swanky place to stay, it fit our needs and we will return.

Highly recommend this location to anyone looking to stay close to Wrigley and away from the downtown hustle and bustle. Lots of great neighborhood locations for dining and relaxing. The rooms were spacious and all of the front desk people were very helpful in providing us information to get around. Clean and breakfast is a plus, along with all of the reasonably priced mini bar options in your room. Would definitely stay here again!

Within walking distance to Wrigley Field. Directly next to the L station. That being said, the room smelled strongly of a Pine Sol scent. It was very dated. Bed was comfortable and staff was friendly. Our room was quiet, but it wasn't directly next to the L. I would recommend it. It's no Ritz, but it is a nice, quaint hotel.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel has a classic look, with a gorgeous lobby. It has the feel and service of a boutique hotel, not a huge corporate hotel. We were greeted at registration by Basanta, who continued to make us feel welcome during our entire stay. The room was not especially large, but it was elegant and room and beds were comfortable. Also, there were always great cookies (free) in the lobby. What I liked best was the warm, welcoming service. I would unhesitatingly r... Read more

I gave this five stars not because it's a fancy, overly ostentatious hotel, but because it has charm and character. The staff is outstanding, and they don't try gouge you for anything. The prices for the mini-bar, in-room snacks, room service sandwiches, and parking are significantly lower than can be found just about anywhere else. I had a single room, which two people might find a little crowded, but it was ideal for one and everything in it and the bathroom was in great shape. I didn't samp... Read more

The room was so small I could hardly move around the bed. The bathroom was very dated and needs an upgrade. The breakfast was not really a breakfast and simply not enough for the price in my opinion. Frozen Burgers for the microwave? No thank you. Apart from that I agree with most positive reviews here. The hotel has a certain kind of charm like your old grandpa showing off his ear wax and making fart jokes. Before the first night i thought I would die. After 6 nights it wasn't so bad actually.... My spouse and I went to Chicago for a long weekend and wanted a place to stay near Boystown. This is one of the few hotels in the area so we booked it. There couldn't be a more clear example of bait and switch. The pictures when we booked online, showed a fairly roomy suite. When we get to the hotel, the room literally had enough room for one person to walk on either side of the bed. It made getting ready and getting to the hanging rack a challenge. In addition, we were on the second floor but the room smelled of water and mold. The a/c unit made a terrible clicking sound both during the day and the night.

City Suites is a quaint, quiet hotel, close to transportation and venues. Walk to the VIC Theater for a show. Close to the N Halsted St Blues venues, DePaul University and 1 stop away from Wrigley Field on the Red Line. Spacious rooms, good breakfast and extraordinary staff make this hotel one of the best kept secrets in the city. Highly recommended, but remember it's an old building, so the floors definitely creak in certain spots. That just adds to the charm.

The redeeming qualities are the excellent staff and the great location. The room was way to warm and the boiler and radiators made more noise than the trains 100 feet away. The close proximity to the Vic theater saved the day. Also our room and the facility was very clean.

The City Suites is a nice, welcoming hotel in an unexpected place. There aren't many other accommodations in this neighborhood so it was nice to have it so close to the things we wanted to do. We booked the hotel due to its proximity to the Vic Theater (right around the corner) as we came in for two nights of Marillion shows. The room was smaller than expected. Love this hotel because it's in a perfect location because it's near Wrigley, right next to the train, and Boystown. Some rooms are loud in the winter because the heating system is extremely old. Also, the rooms are spacious and the shampoo smells amazing. I've stayed here numerous times and liked the hotel: the breakfast is just yogurt, some jimmy dean sandwiches and eggs, cereal, etc.
