This hotel is below average, but I'll give it a three rating for being cheap, convenient to the train, and in a great neighborhood. I booked online with a third party and had no problems checking in or out. The free wi-fi worked well for my basic purposes. The room was tiny, but was fine for me as a solo traveler. My only problem was that it could've used a good deep cleaning. There was grime on the furniture and walls, soap scum on the sink, stains on the carpet. But the linens were clean, so I... Read more

The hotel is 3 minutes far from the Chinatown station, really convenient and 10 minutes far from the downtown (The loop). However, it is no cheap (cheaper than many others). The room was really small, the bathroom small as well and the common areas were a little smelly. On the other hand, I could sleep well, it was not noisy. Finally, the wi-fi was not fast.

I chose this hotel because I was on a budget and it had great transport links. I had read some of the bad reviews but since I was only staying for a few nights, I thought it would be fine. Upsides - price (though looking back, I would have paid more to stay elsewhere); subway only a few minutes walk away; Chinese food everywhere including yummy taro buns and bubble tea; random shops full of random things - found a TY Beanie (prob get bored after one visit though); Lawrence Fish and Shrimp also... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Disgustingly dirty and cold rooms. Rudest staff ever. They basically yell at you on the phone and they roll their eyes when you ask for something, like the wifi password. The heaters did not work. It smelled like cigarette everywhere. The bathroom was gross when I arrived, as if they hadn't cleaned it before.

Old, outdated. No AC. No cable tv. Worn look. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great. Not a place to hang out. If your looking for cheap place to lay your head in Chicago, this is a good choice. No frills, cheap lodging. Great location. Near food, shopping and public transportation. It's not a place you take your wife and kids. The place was clean. Clean sheets, room, and bathroom. That's important to me. It's not a destination lodging. Good for the price to explore the wonderfu... Read more

I'm not sure why, but I felt compelled to write a review of this hotel. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars if I could. Many of the other 2 & 3 star ratings were accurate: old and really needs a deep cleaning, esp. the carpets, but worked for our purposes (attending a conference at McCormick Place, so we were only in the room to sleep & shower). Upon opening the door, we were greeted with an immense smell of bleach, so much so that in 5 minutes my throat was sore and eyes were burning. The toilet didn't... Read more

Honestly, I think this is an excellent hotel for the location and price.I don't understand why so many crybabies are writing such negative reviews.I felt the need to write a positive one for those considering staying here. For the location and price, you're not going to get a better deal. We were able to park in a safe lot nearby for a reasonable rate (considering parking in Chicago) and didn't have to worry about the security of our rental car. Just above the nearby lot is the CTA Redline.... Read more

It's a good thing the front desk is so sweet and courteous because the actual accommodations are so bad that it's actually comical (if you have a sense of humor). The place is really old and run down. We couldn't open our room door all the way because there was a desk in the way but I forgot every time and slammed into the desk every time. There was a pesky fly in our room. The bathroom was pretty clean but the shower ran out of hot water quickly so two people can't shower one after the other. T... Read more

The room was nice enough. The corridors are a bit grubby and needing new carpet and there is no lift. But for me it was ideal for a 2 night stay in Chicago. The metro is very close which runs 24 hours so its ideal to get to down town and back.

I thought it was a great hotel for the price. I was looking for the cheapest hotel closest to the festival I was attending and this fit the bill. It was also really close to cheap parking and public transportation. The neighborhood seemed safe and was really interesting to explore. The rooms were clean and I didn't see a single bug the whole time we were there. The rooms were really small, but I expected this. The communal fridge was handy for food since we brought our own. The staff was profe... Read more

Good location. Subway nearby. Many Restaurants around, good for family. Bathroom too small for people who are big size. No Lift service, a bit troublesome. Service staff helpful and friendly. Must reserved In advance, rooms always full.

Tibor Fischer says, "Elegance tends to be uniform, but seediness surprises." I was surprised at just how seedy this hotel was but I enjoyed it. There may be some kind of scabbie situation. See the photo of the key they give you. Could the lock be opened with a butter knife? wifi was a little weak but functioned. very hot water available. got a good nights sleep.

We stayed in the Chinatown hotel from Friday to Monday to see the city. We did a lot of research for accommodations for this trip. All hotels downtown ran for at least $300/night and air bnb's were comparable to that as well. Chinatown hotel was perfect because it's a block and half away from the Cermak-Chinatown subway stop that runs 24 hours a day and only took 2-4 stops to get right downtown that went very quickly. We weren't there to spend our days in the hotel. It was perfect to come back t... Read more

A group of us (6 college females) stayed in one of the suites while attending 2 rugby games , which was actually just 2 tiny rooms with a bathroom in the middle, so not a ton of floor space. After reading other reviews we prepared for the worst, bringing our own pillow/blankets/towels/etc. While I'm not upset we brought our own, it was hardly necessary. Everything seemed clean and I didn't see a single bug. Sure, the floors were worn out and the towels a little scratchy, but nothing was dirty... Read more

Hôtel well maintained while still of the old style. The corrdors are narrow and not so clean as well as the carpets but the room was Nickel, very clean and comfortable. Very efficient wi-fi as well as very polite and welcoming personnel.

Tucked away in the colorful, fun, amazing Chinatown Chicago is a well-priced, clean, and simple hotel with a customer service you cannot beat! Price was 1/2 of what the huge unpersonable hotels charged. It IS a hotel- no spa, valet, mints on the pillow - but clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helped give directions and info. Try the upstairs restaurant directly across the street, too. Parking can be tricky but there is a pay for parking nearby and the hotel staff let you pull up to the do... Read more

It's relatively close to downtown. Accommodations are pretty modest and old, rooms tiny. Prices were reasonable considering. Compared to camping, this is good. I'm glad I had this experience. Of course terrific food can be found literally outside the doorstep.
