I was told at check in I was being given an excellent room on the 12th floor. It turns out what they consider an excellent room was directly behind the elevator shaft. Either the front desk is incompetent or uninformed in any event it was a very poor experience.

We stayed at Marriott for business. It in a good location . Easy to walk to restaurants. It has a great bar at the center of the lobby . Has a small cafe which serves huge egg white wrap. The gym is on the 9 th floor . Has great view and fully equipments. The bed was so comfortable . The bathroom is kinda small but clean. The bathroom floor made by tiles which slippery. The hotel is in excellent position, just in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, which is the shopping heaven in Chicago. The service are good, also: I've especially enjoyed the gym. The bad news come from the room: small, below par in terms of general appearance. The internet connection in the rooms comes at an insanely high price (15$ a day, at least), even if there is free internet in the lobby. I was here for a conference, and the conference facilities are remarkable, but in my opinion the fi... Read more

We have stayed at many Marriott hotels and never felt compelled to write a review. This time we felt the need to comment on our recent stay at this one. The room rate was discounted to approximately $310 ( includes taxes and hotel fees) was the smallest room we have ever encountered. The bathroom was so tiny only one person could be in there at a time. When you opened the bathroom door it barely cleared the toilet. There were only too small lights on either side of bathroom mirror which made i... Read more

The hotel is centrally located and when I visit Chicago for work, I can easily access restaurants and shops all over Magnificent Mile. Rooms are average with plenty of storage. It could use brightening up with new carpet and lighting, but I'm comfortable when I stay here. I order breakfast room service and it's great. I would venture out and try restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner.

I recently had a block of rooms here for a wedding party and I must say the staff was all excellent. From the event planning group to the bellhops, every staff member was extremely kind and made the experience worthwhile. It must be admitted, the biggest pitfall of this location is the size of the rooms, they are all quite small unless you are willing to shell out almost $100 more for a "plus" room. The rooms are very nice and modern, well maintained, but you could probably encounter "better d... Read more

Hotel is located on the Magnificent Mile which is wonderful. Walking on Michigan St was a shoppers dream. My room was a bit small but that could be overlooked. Tiny bathroom. Hotel is aged and could use a major overhaul. Broken tiles, old fixtures and old windows that do nothing to drown out the noise! Sirens all night could have been right in my room! The Windows also seem to cause a problem with regulating temperature. Bedding was the best and what I look forward to about any Marriott proper... Read more

I'd give this a 3.5 if we could rate in increments of half-points. My stay at this Marriott was part of a quick weekend guys trip (Friday mid-day to Sunday late morning). For the price (low $200's a night with AAA discount), this seemed to be the ideal location for being on Michigan Avenue in the heart of the city. Once we all arrived and started our weekend, we realized that we didn't necessarily need to be on Michigan avenue, as we did more eating/drinking west of that location vs. shopping o... Read more

A few weeks ago I stayed at the Chicago Marriott hotel. It was my second stay here in a few years . During this time some lobby changes became striking: a rather large portion of the sitting area became occupied by a bar and other quick food services turning the only sitting /chatting/socializing area of this hotel into a food hall. Stayed at the Marriott for a business trip. Got a room with. A view of the lake and it was recently renovated. Very nicely appointed. Two things that made this stay better than most - 1) the gym - was one of the best I've ever been to in a hotel. Lots of machines, well maintained. Never had to wait to use the equipment even in the busy mornings. The other item was the breakfast - the buffet was very good and Cliff's omelet was a great way to start the day.

This is a typical Marriott in a good location. Some rooms are being renovated but we got on old one. Rooms are tired and minimally equipped: only one coffee pack per day for example. Wifi cost $14.95 a day and, even though we are Marriott members, we had to pay because we booked through Expedia. It's a steep price to pay for what most others offer for free. Overall it's the location that makes this a worthwhile booking.

I stay at hotels 5-7 times per year and was not expecting more than the usual amenities. The bathroom was not clean, hair (lots of it) left on the floor. The air conditioner was barely acceptable. The restaurant had the same 10 item menu everyday. Although i could swear I saw images of their pool, please note there is no pool. However, the staff was kind and helpful. Check-in and out easy. I do have to mention that I booked a room with 2 beds because I needed 2 but received one bed and a rollaw... Read more

I stayed @ the hotel for a Conference.Very large Hotel @ an exclusive address in Downtown Chicago. The rooms where average - A bit run down - and the staff friendly but now very enthusiastic. The Lobby / Bar is a NOISY MADNESS and if had not been for the Executive Lounge I would have gone crazy in just getting a drink. The Breakfast is good and service in the rather small restaurant was good. As a conference hotel ... Many rooms on different floors is a confusing setup. Not a hotel I would choos... Read more

We were disappointed with room size (2 dble beds) being so small. Only 1 person could fit in bathroom at once. Pretty clean though don't look too closely in corners, etc (like most hotels I find). Beds were very comfortable. Couldn't play TV and access wifi at same time (using $15 per day option fee). Room was very loud with sirens and street noise (27th floor facing east to waterfront) yet by closing curtains were able to block out most sound and sleep. Hallway carpets were stained and older. Our room was very very small and the furniture/room was outdated. When we pulled over the bedsheets, we found STAINED BLOOD on the sheets! Towels in the bathroom also had dirty stains on them. Another thing that really ticked us off was that it was 15 dollars EACH DAY for wifi in our room. They also messed up our billing statement (twice!) and I had to call customer service support after my stay. I was literally on the line (with two different numbers) for over 30 minutes!!! Talk about great ... Read more

ON the magnificent mile it's a great location for seeing Chicago. Staff are friendly and helpful, I had asked for a small fridge and found it to be very useful. Probably because of a lack of restaurant room service. There is a great little Pantry downstairs that does deliver to the room but it's limited to pre-prepared sandwiches, salads, etc.and very helpful - but no room service from the restaurant which served regular hot meals, drinks, etc. Being alone for a week at the hotel meant I wasn't ... Ive been coming to this hotel for over 20 years. I have seen it remodeled in 2006 and again very recently. Although rooms are small the remodel is fantastic and space saving in every possible way. Views are gorgeous, rooms are stunning in white. Housekeeping is attentive and quiet. The bell staff at this hotel is unbelievable. One person in particular, Mike has been here about 20 years and the other has been here 30 years. That tells you something indeed. You cannot beat the dual Rush-Mi... Read more

Our often- monthly city getaways landed us in the Marriott on Michigan Avenue. My husband and I were celebrating recent landmark birthdays, and when Daniel Cebolloro heard this he gave us our special request: High up with a view of Lake Michigan. Daniel offered a corner suite which we happily accepted. Our plans included tickets to sail on the tall ship Red Witch that afternoon. Watching the sailboats on "our little ocean" from our room was a lovely bookend to the day. Returning to the ... Read more

First, I want to say that if I based this review solely on the building itself, I would probably give it a "Good"--however, the staff and customer service I experienced during our trip pushed this stay well over to excellent. The location is phenomenal. Looking at a map I thought we would have to take the train or bus a lot, but honestly? We just walked EVERYWHERE from the central spot that was our hotel. Yes, the building is older, some renovations have been done, and little things here and t... Read more

I was so impressed with my visit to the Marriott last week. My room was beautiful and had plenty of outlets. The view was incredible. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the location is perfect.

Excellent location, within walking distance of some great sights. The bar in the main lobby was always busy and had a good vibe. Didn't eat at the restaurant but the Rush Street Pantry had a good selection - the burgers were really good! Free wifi in the lobby, but unfortunately not in the rooms which is a shame.

Was here for six nights at conference. Lucky to be upgraded to studio room( asked on Twitter). So big room, great view, nice sitting area. Many of typical business hotel issues resolved here: big walk in shower with good water pressure, tons of charging outlets, lots of great lighting, perfect workspace. Very nice, modern room. Those I talked to in non renovated rooms had very different experience so make sure to request new room. Room service is via quick bites delivery. Sort of elevated sna... Read more

This hotel is in a great location however in desperate need of a refurb-- the rooms are small--which we expected in a downtown hotel--however the air conditioning was non-existent-- the mattress was worn and tired-- the water in the shower backed up during showering. The lobby was large and beautiful and always bustling but overall was a big disappointment for a Marriott property-- we are reward members and try to stay exclusively with them--but this has us contemplating a change.

Stayed here for 6 nights. Upon booking, I mentioned that my husband and I we're celebrating a special anniversary. When we arrived, we were booked in a room on the 44th floor, with an amazing view! Every time I called for service or talked to the front desk they remembered to say "Happy Anniversary". Phenomenal location near restaurants and shopping. Concierge lounge (for Platinum Elite Marriott rewards members) was awesome! Providing full breakfast Mon-Fri. Also provided snacks in the evenings... Read more

I have stayed at this hotel several times. We had an opportunity to have a block of rooms here during the National Restaurant Show in May. It is one of my top picks for Marriott hotels in Chicago. The rooms are newly renovated and the restaurants are good. I would recommend not using the FEDEX business in this hotel. The prices are unreal and the staff is not nice.

This hotel is smack in the middle of the magnificent mile and as such close to everything in downtown Chicago. We were upgraded to a newly renovated room on our arrival. The room was on the 35th floor with wonderful views of the city and the lake. the lobby bar seems to be always hopping; morning to night. There is a little market for food and sundries that is open 24/7 so very convenient. I would stay there again.

This is one of Marriott's shining jewels located close to everything and in a predominately SAFE neighborhood downtown with large crowds and a significant Police presence. The staff here is very happy to Go over over and above to make sure that no details are forgotten. The service is outstanding, the location is great and the hotel overall is a 5 star. .

Right in the middle of all the action! Conveniently located and easy to get to. Within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. Beautiful city views! All staff that we encountered at this Marriott were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were large and clean. Bathrooms are clean. Loved the open bar area on the main floor! Will definitely return to this Marriott!

We always stay at Marriott hotels, in part because we use and love the rewards program. Also because of their reliably great hotels and experiences. This hotel is perfectly located on Michigan Avenue close to tons of shopping, lots of dining, and more! Few blocks from Portillo's, just across from Shake Shack, and on Michigan Ave, it cant get much better. Price was right, too for our weekend trip. Service, as always was above average from bellman to check-in to the lobby bar which is nice, ... Read more

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's a very large hotel, with long, long hallways. Not the easiest to reach some of the rooms. There is a coffee/ pastry bar in the lobby area along with a large bar. Breakfast on the second floor, was just OK. Not much atmosphere and food was very average, but our server was good. The rooms: We had adjoining rooms on the 18 floor, both with 2 beds. The view was Michigan Ave. Our rooms were clean, but décor is tired. One room, the bathro... Read more

I have stayed at multiple Marriot properties and most of been excellent. Even when my expectations weren't met, I was loyal to the brand and never wrote a negative review. I checked into this property near 11pm with a employee discount rate and provided proof that was accepted. Upon entering my room there were some French fries near the edge of the bed(not such a big deal) and I went to sleep. Upon checking out two days later, the front desk informs me they are not honoring my employee discount... Read more
