"I stayed at the Amber Inn 07/12/12-07/16/12. This was the WORST place I have ever stayed. The location was not an issue. It's located on the Southside of Chicago close to bus routes and the L train. The motel should be closed down. I checked in with a woman who was behind bullet proof glass that was so thick she could hardly hear me. There were signs hung in the office that said, No Refunds for No Reason, We Don't Care. My room was dirty and it smelled bad. The furniture was old and stained. The tv had 3 working channels. The lamps were dim and nasty. There was no clock, iron, refridgerator, microwave, or clothes hangers. The carpet was dirty, the bed had hair in it, the towels and wash clothes were dingy. I wore shoes in the shower and the entire time I walked on the floor. I had to purchase sheets, pillows, a towel and wash cloth. My room was not cleaned once during my entire stay. The motel has hourly rates, so there were a lot of unsavory looking people coming and going. There are also people that live here. They pay weekly rates. Everything about this place was scarey. The worst part about my stay was when I returned from being out all day and tried to get into my room. The door would not open with my key, I went to the office and was informed by the lady/man (I have no idea if it was a lady or man) that I had been evicted because I did not pay my bill. I explained that I prepaid for the trip. The front desk attendant advised that I needed to contact our agency and have them fax over a confirmation showing that I had paid. Once they faxed the confirmation, it took them another 10 minutes to give me access to the room. No apology for the misunderstanding was given to me. I will NEVER again stay at the Amber Inn."

"This was great for a cheap hotel. The side of town was a little sketchy, but we still felt the hotel was secure as you needed a key to get to stairs and elevators and then another for your room. Close to the CTA bus routes, we were able to get to everywhere we needed to go fairly easy for not having a car with us. There is a restaurant called Pearl's Place connected to the hotel, so we ate there a few times. Great homestyle cooking, friendly staff, and very reasonably priced."

"Disgusting. Hair in the shower walls. Fell asleep after people banged on the door at three A.M, telling me that I ordered a pizza, when they didn't have anything with them. Pretty much ruined the entire trip."

"The motel was less expensive but was not good in shape and services at all.The towels were very dirty and old ,room were very stinky and in a bad condition.The front desk didn't care about the guests. I think this hotel has to demolish and rebuilt again.the only advantage was the price and good and nice manager who at least heard my complaints :-)"
