"Hotels is very old. Rooms are very old and falling apart. Staff was NOT friendly, in fact very rude. We called and asked for help with our luggage the woman that answered replied 'what do you want me to do'. No one ever came with a cart. We order food to be delivered to our room the delivery guy said he could not come to the room. Someone called from the front desk and said ' if you dont come down and get your food I will tell this delivery guy to leave' (possibly same lady that wasn't helpful with the check out) I asked if I could talk to the manager, she stated 'I am the manager' and hung up. The elevators were broke. The staff member that informed us of the broken elevator did take the time out to show us a different route to our room but on the way told us the hotel was haunted!!!... If you stay here I guarantee you will be disappointed..."

"For the price, you can't beat it, if you can get a room on a higher floor facing Lake Michigan...absolutely breath taking. It is a very old hotel and unless there is a newer part for people paying more than the $99.00, be ready to experience a very old hotel. Upon my arrival my reservation had not been received by the hotel, but my desk clerk was wonderful and gave me such quality service I would go back just for the customer service and pleasantness from him!!"

"It was a very clean hotel. The staff was friendly but it was difficult to get help with luggage seemed like they were short staffed. For the great price I paid it was worth it, but had I paid the full price of 300 a night I would have been upset. It was a spacious room for our family of 5. Plus a great location."

"Based on some of the other comments we were concerned about what we would find at this hotel

The location is unbeatable if you plan to be a tourist in Chicago. Grant Park I across the street and all of the major attractions are a short walk away as is the L and blueline stations. Many restaurants are very close by, and the two hotel restaurants were both very good.

Although it is an older hotel, the rooms are huge and ours was very clean. We liked the charm of the high ceilings, mouldings and metal fixtures. If you get a chance, check out the Banquet Room for a peek at a turn of the century opulent ballroom.

The staff was excellent and all were friendly and helpful. I believe there was a picket line on some days but even those employees were respectful and polite.

Unfortunately the fitness room is located at street level on Michigan Avenue so everyone watches you exercise. WiFi was expensive but we walked across the street to Dunkin Donuts for free wifi, coffee and entertainment ;-)

So ....despite its dated d�cor, the location, rooms and price made this a great hotel to stay at. The staff were excellent and the restaurants were solid. We'd recommend staying there, especially if you are a family travelling to Chicago to see the sights."

"The location and value of this hotel were great. The Lobby is beautiful, but the beds are like bricks! I would have rated this hotel much higher if I could have gotten a good night sleep, but, let's face it, the bed it the biggest and most important part of the hotel stay, and my bed was way too hard."

"My trip overall was great!!! The hotel, however, could have been better. Not a bad choice, but it does not include some amenities you would think makes sense in having. ie. small refrigerator and/or microwave. The rooms were decent, location wasn't too bad (south on michigan ave., so not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle as you see on north michigan ave.) I would probably stay again, but I would not pay more than $120 for this hotel."

"This is a beautiful Historic building. The Architecture is so amazing and I loved the carpet as it was so historic. Internet acess was extra, in fact everything was an upcharge. At the discounted rate for Chicago it was worth the amount that we spent. If I had to pay full price I would not recommend it. For us the location was perfect. We were able to meet our needs for the McCormack Place where our convention was located. Enjoyed old Chicago."
