This hotel is outdated and filthy. Skip it for better options in town. The lady at the reception was extremely rude. She has accused me of not booking directly from the hotel. Really? To add, the hotel is under renovation and does not even have a sign on the street. You have to use the parking entrance - of course, no sign to indicate this. To add, this hotel is now not under the Best Western franchise. Do yourself a favor and skip it.

I like that the hotel was walking distance away from the train station and it made by visit to Chicago amazing. The staff was very helpful on giving suggestion to dine and drink. (all of them delicious). I would stay here again.

Great location close to public transport. Being refurbished and will become a Holiday Inn. They were working on the restaurant/bar which was closed, but there are multiple pubs/restaurants within a block or two. To be honest it reminded me of the tired Holiday Inns in the US during the late eighties, early nineties. However the staff were brilliant and the room was fine. Overall good value for the price that we paid. Would certainly stay again at the price that we paid.

Stayed here because walking distance to North Western University campus. Very friendly staff, okay rooms. The breakfast is very average, quite American, i.e. nothing fancy but high fructose. Would recommend.

When we booked this stay, the hotel was a Best Western. Unbeknownst to us, it became an independent hotel undergoing renovations. There was no notice of this on-line or when we called to confirm. Although the room was okay, the lobby was a mess and there was no in-house food service (which meant we had to go out every morning in harsh winter weather for breakfast - including Christmas morning when most places were closed). In addition to the dust in the lobby and halls, the lack of security ... Read more

Very nice hotel in downtown Evanston, stayed here on a recent trip to Chicago and was an easy subway ride to Wrigley and to the city. I would definitely stay here again as it was a great cheaper alternative to staying in downtown Chicago. Also, have great bars and restaurants nearby.

We booked this hotel while in Chicago for a Cubs game. The location was great as it's a short walk to the CTA L trains. The hotel was modern with very new furnishing and renovations. I had occasion to speak to 4 different staff members while checking in and out and just passing by the desk. They could not have been more helpful and friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable, the WiFi was great; there really isn't one thing I would complain about. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, great location for college visits to Northwestern. Customer service is terrific! Great breakfast place available next to the lobby. Parking garage on site. However, they automatically charge you $18 onto your hotel bill for parking. Expensive, and it felt chintzy. So...only 4 stars instead of 5.

This is an attractive hotel in a very convenient spot, but yes, I do regret the change from Travel Lodge to Holiday Inn, too much of value has been lost. The first surprise came immediately on arrival, instead of the old secure parking garage at $10/night I was faced with valet parking at $18/night, plus tips. So, call it what it really is, parking at $20/night, with a huge loss of convenience. I can no longer visit my car during the day to grab one small item. It was oppressive on arrival. The... We stayed here for 5 nights after staying in Chicago downtown, which was a lovely change from the chaos, did not have a car and used the Metra train. I would definitely recommend Evanston as everything is on your doorstep and we felt very safe. John the GM at the Holiday Inn Chicago North Evanston is a credit to IHG and his staff are too. I would return to this hotel without a doubt.

The hotel rooms are fantastic this must be a newly remodeled the place. The staff were fantastic when I checked in especially Ross. He checked to make sure my room is fantastic by calling me about 15 minutes after I checked into the room. They have valet parking. This has to be one of the most cleanest and friendliest Holiday Inn properties around Chicago. There is a bar across the street as well as a restaurant and bar in the hotel. I will definitely be staying here again

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend. Nice staff, clean hotel and room. The bathroom was almost as big as the room :) but no closet, just drawers and a hook on the bathroom door. Be prepared to pay to park? per day. On a warm day, take advantage of the pool on the roof ! :) Restaurants, stores, and CTA all nearby. Overall, I'd stay again.

I stayed here for 2 nights to go see the Cubs play. This hotel was a clean, comfortable and quiet place to relax for a long weekend. The staff was fantastic each time I called them to inform them I would be later than expected due to flight delays, and even when I got there after midnight, we were welcomed with friendly faces. The train station is a short 5 minute walk away, and there are many restaurant and bar options nearby. We are already planning our next trip back and cant wait to stay aga... Read more

This hotel has potential to be great. I am local to this property and booked a night through priceline so I could use their swimming facilities. The pool was too cold to swim in. Although it was minimally at a regulation temperature, I think calling it a heated swimming pool was a stretch. There is no hot tube, what once may have been a hot tub is full of gravel. There are zero ice or vending machines on the floors. You have to go to the main floor to get ice. Bar closes early. Staff was ve... Read more

Fresh new design that has that fancy touch to it. The room had everything i wanted and needed. Up to date decor with a nice mellow look. Very welcoming as soon as you enter the room. Everyone was friendly and and the service was fantastic. The pool heated pool on the upper deck was a bonus since my son loves to swim. Many options in terms of restaurants and many things to do in the area. The views from our room were amazing not only could you see downtown Evanston but Downtown Chicago as well. ... Read more

Holiday Inn is no longer the Holiday Inn I stayed 20 years ago! This one in Evanston is really clean, quiet and modern. Staff in the front office are very friendly. Though we didn't let housekeeping clean our room for 3 days, we have observed something we didn't really feel comfortable with: some of the cleaning ladies closed the guest's room while cleaning or they only left the door slightly open while they were inside. I would feel much more comfortable if they'd leave the guests' doors open.

My kids say I'm overly fussy about hotels, and I freely admit to that. This hotel is one of the best I've ever experienced. It was perfectly clean and beautiful. The bath is just so nice, with a great shower. See the photos! It has been completely renovated, and the decor is stunning. It is far better than more expensive hotels in the area, and I've tried many of them, including a 5-star hotel in downtown Chicago. To me, this means it was a good value for the price. The staff is incredibly ... Read more

The Hotel was perfect location for my son and I. My son did a baseball camp for the week. It was a mile away! I hated the parking! Its Valet only! I was in and out to much for that and had to wait a few times. They did great as far as that goes I'm just in patient! The only BIG issue I had is the toilet over filled. From the back of the tank. It went every where! I called and they "fixed" it???. The next day we were checking out. My bag was on the floor and it did it again??. All over my... Read more

Friendly staff. Clean lobby. But for the money? Since when does a suburban holiday inn charge 200 a night? Price gouging on a home game... And they don't comp parking or bfast. I won't make this mistake again.

There was a great view of the skyline and the front desk Billy, was really helpful. I can see Lake Michigan and Wrigley Field. A very economical choice if you're driving in Chicago and need to be downtown in the morning.

Hotel recently refurbished totally without service. Impossibile to have breakfast in the morning, you may seat for an hour without anybody taking care of you. On sunday buffet only from 8 am, no bars open in Evanston. In case you want to starve abandoned to yourselves it is the right place.

We have stayed here many times over the past 10 years. It has now changed hands. It is much improved. The rooms are clean, TV works, towels are changed daily, and the housekeeping staff are very polite and kind. The location is perfect to attend Northwestern events or to catch the "L" for downtown. There are good restaurants very close by. I can easily recommend. The prices go way up on game or NU event weekends.

I can't remember the last time I had a good experience at a Holiday Inn. HI Express is much better. Not enough help at desk. Long wait to register or get any service, e. g. Laundry because they do not deliver to the room. You have to go and wait to collect it. Parking is valet only at $18 per night and street parking is $1 per hour with 4 hour limit. Stay away from this area if you can.

First of all this hotel is old but they renovate it so its kind of old hotel with new furniture, wallpapers and lobby area. Why I don't like this hotel because I stayed for 3 days and lady who clean neither change the bed sheets nor gave bathroom shampoo and soap on next day. I am not sure they really change the bed sheets or not. If not that means you are sleeping in other person's bed:-(. I stayed there with my family of four (kids 10 & 8) during the Cubs' world series. The hotel is about a 35 minute Uber ride from ORD (about $35).I'm familiar with the area but because we planned on going to Wrigley Field we decided instead of staying with family or friends out in suburbs we chose this hotel based on the proximity to the train lines (both the "L" and Metra stations) and the price. Obviously the Lincoln Park area would be closer to Wrigley Field but due to the World Series the pri... Read more

We were visiting Northwestern University and while there aren't many hotels around, I think this is an assuring choice to have in the area. 2 hours after checking out, I realised that I'd inadvertently left some valuables behind in the room and called the hotel - Jamal (?) at the front desk picked up quickly, assured me that he would get back to me right away, and true enough called back shortly with positive news. My valuables were back with me within 20 minutes of discovering my loss and for... Read more
