During our beautiful stay at The James we had a wonderful time. The staff was kind, they helped us navigate Chicago. However the "Above and Beyond" came after we left. Our daughter left her "blankie" behind, a priceless item and she was devastated. We called and the staff was very helpful, but to no avail. They answered our repeated emails, desperate to find it. We thought it was gone. Two weeks later it came through the laundry and they took the time to email us and to overnight it. We ... Read more

We booked The James because it is close to the Northwestern Medical School. We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The gym is a good size and offers a nice selection of equipment. The location is perfect to walk around the city. We enjoyed our stay!

We had a great stay for Obama's farewell. Conveniently located to Eataly, magnificent mile and Giardanos. Very central location and near the CTA. Received a free upgrade and super friendly staff. Room had one of the best beds I've slept on in a hotel.

I would say this hotel is very average. The good points are friendly and pleasant staff, quick service and location is excellent The not so great stuff: Large hotel, 2 elevators. The bed was too soft (of course this point is a matter of opinion), hard water pressure in the shower, cleanliness was lacking... But as mentioned it is a very large hotel. The housekeeping staff were always available on our floor. Design and decor are very masculine. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at The James in Chicago years ago while visiting for a wedding. It was beautiful. We were excited to visit with our children and arranged for one of the suites this past December. The first room was next to the elevator shaft and it sounded like a jackhammer was next door each time someone got into the elevator (we were on the top floor). We were moved to another room on another floor and the noise was gone. We were disappointed as there were holes in the wall around the ... Read more

I have a preference for boutique hotels because, generally, the service is better. This was my first stay at the James Hotel and with a few notable exceptions the experience was excellent. The front desk staff was exceptional; friendly, helpful, and well trained. My room was large enough, very clean, modernized, and comfortable. The bar staff was very good, if not as good as the front desk staff. My only real issue was the quality of the equipment in the workout facility. To me it is unaccep... Read more

This is a perfect location. The hotel is modern, the rooms are big, the bed are excellent and personnel is very kind and helpfull. I liked the "bio" product provided in the bath room. I only regret the "air conditionning type of noise" coming from outside from probably the building in front of my room(1711). Anyway, in this big city there is always background noise ! The breakfast is very good (good quality croissant) but expensive. There is a public parking just at the corner of the street.
