While checking in, my 5 year old daughter was asked if she was celebrating anything during her stay. She told them that is her birthday the next day. They continued discussing our plans and the staff member asked her about her doll she was carrying. We checked in and our room was very nice on a high floor with a great view of the lake and the pool. After a few hours on Navy Pier - which was a short walk away - we returned to our room to find a note with cold milk, a tin of cookies and chocolate... Read more

It was our 10 year anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere we had not been before. Doubletree did not offer an upgrade or discount or anything extra for a special occasion. A little disappointed, but it was not so much that it ruined the trip. Doubletree is a little tricky to find. There is no huge logo saying it's right there. Look for an awning with the logo. This Doubletree is located 2 blocks east of the Miracle Mile and 2 blocks west of Navy Pier. So, the hotel location is in a very ... Read more

The hotel is good: big room, nice bathroom both very clean. A/C is good but quite noisy. One detail was that the room didn't have a safe. Coffee/Tea falicities in the room. Very confortable bedding. Breakfast was good, but be careful that the breakfast room is not very large and can be crowded at some times. The best of this hotel are two things: fist the outdoor pool which is really great. Second, the location, which is perfect to visit Chicago.

Spent 3 nights here on our first visit to Chicago. The location is superb - 10 minute walk to Navy Pier, 5-10 minute walk from the red line metro at Grand Street. Near the Purple Pig, John Handcock building, the beaches, lake trail, etc. Hotel stay was ordinary for any Hilton.

Overall, the Doubletree is a very good hotel with a great location for walking to many Chicago attractions and excellent restaurants. The rooms are large, clean and modern. The staff was uniformly friendly, though there were times when the concierge either wasn't there or didn't have correct information. Food in the hotel is overpriced, but it wasn't necessary to eat there with so many choices elsewhere. As a previous reviewer stated, the air conditioning was quite loud, and it cycled on and off... Located just steps from the very center of downtown Chicago, this hotel has a outdoor pool and large, comfortable rooms. Although there is no valet parking, there are a couple of very close parking garages that offer in and out parking at lower prices than many of the other hotels in the area. Staff was friendly and responsive to our needs, we would not hesitate to return to this property.

Just under a 1-2 mile walk (which is nothing in the city where everyone walks readily) to Water Tower Place and the Hancock Building, to shopping along Michigan Avenue, to Navy Pier, and to Millennium Park or to the Willis Tower. Lots to see, do, but, and eat very close by.

Budget time for elevator to come. The slowest elevators ever. If you are a coffee drinker like me and prefer good espresso, don't count on getting it at the bagel place on the lobby. They are not that good on the are of the Barista.

Modern and clean hotel at a great price! Location was awesome- we could walk to navy pier, the bean, and all the restaurants we wanted to go to. Plus they give you cookies when you check in and hey- who doesn't love cookies? The pool was on maybe the 8th floor or so? And had a great view of the city. I would recommend this place to anyone!

The Doubletree by Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile is a great place to stay if you plan on visiting Navy Pier (only several blocks away) or walking/running/biking down the trails of Lake Shore Drive. I went on a couple of runs on the Lake Shore Drive trails during our stay. It was easy to get to the trails and great place to go for a run. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We had an early flight and arrived at the hotel around 9:00 a.m. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check ... Read more

Great location to all Chicago's tourist sites, including the Magnificient Mile, Michigan Avenue Bridge, Navy Pier, Millennium Park (among others). Rates were reasonable and the hotel has an outdoor pool. However, the lines to check-in were extremely long and the hotel elevators were really slow. As such, I'd recommend a lower floor as my friend and I often had to wait 3-5 minutes for an elevator. If I'm in Chicago again, I don't think I would stay at the Doubletree again, but it's a good option ... Read more

If you are looking for a hotel in downtown Chicago with an outdoor pool, definitely consider this Double Tree. The rooftop pool is the perfect spot to swim in the heart of Chicago surrounded by tall buildings, yet with plenty of sun. We stayed here at the end of June and loved the pool. Check in was a breeze, and being a Hilton Honors member we received complimentary water in addition to the chocolate chip cookies. The room was clean but kind of dated. My family and I stayed for two nights at the DoubleTree on E. Ohio Ave. The hotel is dated and is in need of a complete makeover. There is old, smelly and stained carpeting everywhere, including the elevators. Our room smelled, too. The front of the hotel is furnished with old and stained furniture. Hand prints were all over the front entrance doors. The pool is in severe need of a good cleaning/maintenance, as there is mold along the sides of the pool. This downtown hotel is family friendly and has a great location. It is located on Ohio Street and is walking distance to the Navy Pier and the Mag Mile. The roof top pool on the 5th floor is a fun experience too! We are from a small town so swimming surrounded by skyscrapers was so fun. This hotel is in a great location and the hospitality suites provide a great space for small meetings. Downsides to this hotel, no breakfast included and HIGH prices, with average to below average housekeeping services. Of the five travelers I was with, each of us noted the bathrooms didn't feel very clean and that there was often someone else's hair in and around the tub and toilet.

The room was definitely not cleaned properly. There were crumbs left laying around where you could sit near the window. Also, there was hair that wasn't cleaned up in the bathroom. My Daughter is here for business so I tagged along for pleasure. We have a great room, very comfortable beds and a very nice view with a lake section. Sadly it is the little things. Paper cups, no spoons, a very average Bathroom with terrible lighting. No coffee to be had after about 2 pm... why can't the lobby bar install an espresso machine ? There is a big ashtray outside the revolving door... remove it. We have to walk past it and the smell and the smoke are terrible. Move it father away, P... Read more

Excellent location that maintains quality service at an affordable price. Overall, interactions with hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and contributed to a wonderful trip. Will definitely stay at this location again.

The morning of departure I needed an early taxi. The concierge explained that there was taxis at the front door at all times. When I went to the taxi, the hotel doorman directed me to a different car, privately owned. I explained to him I needed to pay wit a credit card and I needed a receipt. He said that was not a problem, and that this service was cheaper and faster. That was not the case, the service was considerably more expensive and I was treated very rudely and poorly when I told the... Read more

Quality Hilton property, with great staff, but appearance is lagging. Hallways and rooms need carpet, furnishings, etc. I'm sure Hilton has a plan, but starting immediately would be a good thing. Location, BTW, is primo. Two or three blocks from Mag Mile...and... West Egg - a best place for breakfast - is across the street. Also a Panera and an Einsteins are right there.

Amenities were good and considering in busy part of city, was quiet. Walking distance to many places of interest, including food, running path by the lake, and Michigan Avenue. Service for meeting rooms was very good efficient but unobtrusive

Pretty typical downtown area hotel...room, lobby, service were all clean/fine but it's expensive and doesn't include free wireless in the rooms, which I think is ridiculous at $200/night. If you travel a lot for work, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

We arrived after a long day/plane journey. The porter gave us a friendly welcome and took our bags from our airport transfer vehicle into reception and that was the end of our friendly greetings. The young man at reception hardly looked up from his computer to greet us, gave us no info. on hotel, handed us our room cards and that was it. My work-place in New Zealand is also hospitality and reception and if we greeted our guests (particularly overseas ones) the way he indifferently greeted us, ... Read more

Our room was a corner room on the 15th floor. The view was less than stellar but room was good size, clean and plenty of towels. Easy access to shopping and eating downtown Chicago. Outdoor pool for summer is a must with families

Be cautious about staying here as a conflict may arise and the customer service to resolve it, is not good. Other than that it was a nice hotel. But anyone can be nice if all is going well. The test of true customer service resolution is when there is an issue then you can see you really had the skillset and good attitude to resolve the matter. With my issue I was told "read the sign" UNACCEPTABLE and it was the hotels mistake which they confirmed.

I traveled a decent amount in my career. In addition, my family tries to stay at Hilton brand hotels as a rule. I have never had such a satisfying experience as I and my family did at the Magnificent Mile Double Tree. From the moment we were greeted by Big Ben unloading the car to Jose unloading our luggage cart in the room our stay began perfectly. These gentlemen made us feel as if we were home. One or two people like this is not uncommon. However, every interaction we had with any staff... Read more

The check-in woman was very pleasant. The shower handle did not work and you could not get the temperature right for the hot water. The drain was also clogged so the tub quickly filled up with dirty water. After being out in the cold all-day we came back to find our room was not serviced. It was so disappointing. When I called the operator to report the issue, she asked me 'what do you want me to do about it now?' Many of the TV channels do not work, they just blink in and out. I also hai... Read more

You can't beat the location (especially at Christmas). It is walking distance to Macy's and other great Christmas spots. Compared to other hotels we've stayed at on the Magnificent Mile, it wasn't quite as nice. It was nice, just not one of the nicest. I will say this: I didn't have the negative issues people are posting about here about cleanliness. Either they saw something we didn't or they're being overdramatic. There is no reason to shy away from this place. Don't get nervous based on t... Read more

Great hotel experience here... rooms were very clean and we had a nice view of the city. The staff was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay here and the location was good too. We were only a couple blocks off Michigan Ave. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone's stay. Oh, the big plus was they have queen size beds!!

I wanted to stay downtown pretty close to a lot of the sites I planned to visit and this was exactly that! Within walking distance of the bean and so many great food places. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice place at a nice price.
