Best hotel EVER! The staff was well trained and gave us the best service I've ever experienced! The pools, bars and landscape was well maintained. We will definitely return every year to the Grand Wailea.

We chose the wrong resort for us. The Grand Wailea is overrun with families with young kids. It was Disneyland on the beach. While the staff there was nice, the guests were awful, and the family atmosphere was anything but relaxing. The breakfast buffet was small, and overcrowded and we often waited 30 minutes to be seated. We bought cabanas at the adult pool three of the seven days in an attempt to find a quiet place to relax ($1000 x 3). Most of the pools were loud and frenetic. This was an... Read more

Nice hotel, I loved the decoration and the gardens. Nice swimming pools and jacuzis. The brunch is good enough. In my opinion this hotel is way too big, so you could get a little tired if you walk to the commun areas. I would come back.

Although we were not upgraded like we expected to be (Hilton diamond), the front desk offered free breakfast buffet for our entire stay. And the buffet would fill up anyone, eggs to order, pancakes, waffles, lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. if you don't like birds though, don't come here. Staff in every capacity were well trained, polite and pleasant. My wife enjoyed the lei making class very much. The concierge staff was very helpful in planning activities which are plentiful on Maui - did Atl... Read more

The best of the best! Everything about my stay at the Grande was picture perfect! Where do I begin??Ocean view room, airy and welcoming, with balcony- comfortable outdoor furniture and table (loved the foot stool). Bathroom was to die for, bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast buffet with an amazing view and fresh local fruits, pastries, pressed juices. Yoga on the beach. Best pools I've ever been to at any hotel ever (and I've traveled the world....this even beat the pools at Aulani). Be... Read more

I started going to the Grand Wailea Resort back in 1992 right after it opened. The property was owned by a Japanese gentlemen and managed by Hyatt Hotels. I've been back countless times since during which the resort has changed ownership a few times. What used to be an impeccable property has slowly declined to an above average resort, certainly not deserving of the "Waldorf Astoria" brand. It's more on par to a regular Hilton resort. The hotel is great if you have kids, they love the slides. Al... Read more

I want to first say that I have not ever written a unfavorable review and I'm sorry to have to now. We have now been here for seven days and have three more to go. I want to first start with the good points. First, check in and the guys at the valet are all very nice and helpful with any directions or help that you might need. At check in the staff was very accommodating even though our rooms were not ready yet, they were very nice to deal with. The lobby and entrance are very beautiful and wel... Read more

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Best on Maui and maybe all of Hawaii. Plenty of water access and other activities for people of all ages. Hotel is hugh (750 rooms) but easy to navigate. Has all the amenities anyone could ask for. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a heart vacation experience in Hawaii.

This is a beautiful resort but the service and the packed crowds made this one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. It pains me to say this because we love Waldorf Astoria hotels. The one in Orlando has never felt crowded and seri de has always been great. The Grand Wailea in Maui is a different story. The first day we got to the hotel, the pool area was so packed, that even after walking around for an hour, we still could not find a chair to sit on. They have packed the pool area with ... The location and the Staff make this place truly GRAND! The property is pretty Epic. We had an 8yr old and a 3yr old. So we didnt get to relax or enjoy all the Grand has to offer. I would recommend the Condos we stayed at with Kids over the Grand. But we did enjoy our time. The pools and slides are cool. And the staff is awesome, and make you feel very welcomed.

My wife and I spent a week at the Wailea at the beginning of June - WOW !! A fabulous hotel with first class service and very well managed resort. The Service was fantastic and well organised for example coloured wristbands to use the pools to stop public use and no reserving sun beds for over 60 mins. The beach is beautiful and clean. Restaurants and food were great if not quite expensive I.e Breakfast for two $70. The shops (5 min walk) are great and ate at Chris Ruth's steakhouse an... Read more

My first visit to the Grand Wailea will be my last. I will start with the positive. It is a beautiful lobby, grounds, good beach access with a great stretch of beach. This property is so large that it is exhausting to walk from the pool to the room with kids, floats, etc. my legs were sore just from all that walking. It seriously would take 10 minutes to get to your room. There are a myriad of pools with few and far umbrellas available. People line up at 7 am to throw their towel on a chair, bu... Read more

I prefer Hilton Hotels as a frequent business traveler for a reason: "They know how to take care of customers and reward loyalty." The Grand Wailea went above and beyond to recognize my loyalty to the Hilton Brand by giving us an incredible upgrade upon arrival. We enjoyed our stay overall. Our room was very comfortable for our family of four. We had a partial ocean view and it was wonderful. The pools were great but you had to get a chair at 7am or you wouldnt be able to find anything until around 3pm or so. Our kids loved Camp Grande (Kids club). We stayed there with our toddler son in June. When we arrived, we immediately felt welcomed. They waived the "resort fee" because they didn't have a room upgrade available upon our arrival, so that was nice. Our king bedroom was spacious with a beautiful view of the ocean and the small chapel in the garden. We loved it. We requested a crib, but our son seemed to prefer the futon. It was great because we still didn't feel crowded. The bathroom was big, with a hot tube and a nice, separate shower.... Read more

The hotel itself is excellent with beautiful surroundings, clean rooms and spaces and excellent service, however it also well placed with close access to the beach and a number of activities not to mention the great pools and good choice of places to dine. I highly recommend a stay here.

We recently arrived here for a 7 day visit, followed up by 7 day stay at Fairmont Kea Lani. So far it is very disappointing, as others mention, very basic rooms & crowded common areas. As lovely as hotel is, not worth the price overall. Not really great place for adults or couples/ older children, much more luxurious properties in this price range. Property looks worn, not relaxing place to vacation overall.

The facilities are very nice however it was always so crowded during our visit. I could never find a place by the pool because of too many people and things in the chairs. A lot of people save extra chairs just for the sake of not allowing anyone else to sit or relax. With that said, the hotel/resort is very nice, just keep in mind this place is always busy and is hard to relax because of the huge amount of people.

We have been to this hotel 11 years ago and at that time had been going for 10 years in a row. We read a few reviews on Tripadvisor. Some were good and others not so much. Complaints about service, tiles falling off pools, and rooms in need of renovations. We were a little concerned. Our experience: Went on a family holiday with adult children and 2 grandchildren age 10 & 13. We all had the best time ever. The service was impeccable. Anything we asked for, the answer was "yes, of course, we'll m... Read more

Visually, the hotel is nice looking. With All the pools and slides, it's a kids paradise. No need for an alarm clock.... the screaming kids in the room next door will wake you up. The service was excellent. Their beach is really nice with soft sand. The water is clear and there's no seaweed. Here's my biggest complaint....All the hidden costs. I knew I would pay a $30 room fee in addition to the cost of the room.... BUT.... I was not aware that it was $30 PER DAY! Next they charge you $30 a... Read more

As a Hilton Diamond Member, I would give this one a very high score, the lobby area is overwhelming and I was totally impressed with the service. Even though it is a very large property I did not feel it was over crowded. They have a wonderful tour desk and represent over 80 differerent options and were very helpful to tailor your request to your needs. The food is expensive as everything else in Maui is. You will easily spend 150 to 200 a day on meals IF you eat them all at the hotel. ... Read more

My husband and I stayed with a group for 4 nights at the Grand Wailea. It was a fabulous hotel - great service, comfortable rooms, multiple pools and a fantastic beach. We were lucky enough to have a room in the Napua Club which was a good investment. The resort is extremely busy. A lot of families and big groups. The Napua Club gave us the opportunity to have some time out. Although busy, beach chairs were available through the day. Around the adult pool, not so much. If you did not arrive at... Read more

As the number of our visits to Maui significantly increased recent decades we enjoyed Grand Wailea stay the most. While we also use other hotels/condos for variety and location, Grand Wailea is our default voice. Everything is beautiful and staff is superb. Although the price is high end, the value remains difficult to surpass. On this stay in early September between the two hurricanes that threatened the islands but thankfully brought limited damage, the exemplary staff stood out in the memor... Read more

My job in Venue Site Selection and my client was interested in this property which gave me the opportunity to visit. On arrival we were greeted with a Welcome and a flower Lei and walked to the reception desk. Impeccable service! Everything about this hotel was spectacular. The Art, the Views, the service, the food, the drinks. Although the guests were slightly pretentious, it was a fantastic experience. The spa was one of the best I have ever experienced. The Grand Wailea never ceases to amaze me. Such a beautiful property, such wonderful people and first class service. We came here to kick off our two weeks in paradise and as always were blown away by the wonderful staff and facilities. The hotel is 25 years old, but they've done a great job maintaining the facilities. We had an ocean view room and the lanai was amazing. We watched the sunset from the comfort of a cabana and it was the perfect start to our trip. Breakfast on the hotels patio wa... Read more

I went on a solo trip to Maui and stayed at the Grand Wailea. The rooms were great, the property stunning and the employees were all friendly. I will recommend staying here. The pools were great including the lazy river and adult only pool was quiet. I suggest if you want a beach chair to get there early as the fill up. The only complaint would be I would like a little more variety of food otherwise I enjoyed everything this resort had to offer. The drinks were delicious and there was al... Read more

I stayed at Waldorf Astoria Hotel for 4 nights while in Maui. It has been one of the best experiences I've had. They greeted us with a fresh lei, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was amazing and full of choices. My son had the best time in all the water slides specially the Tarzan swing. We will definitely be coming back to Waldorf Astoria Hotels next year on our Maui vacation.

During our stay, I took a walk around the properties of some other nearby resorts. I was 100% happy I had booked the Grand Wailea instead. The grounds and architecture here are stunningly beautiful. No walkway feels dark or claustrophobic, the landscaping gives you plenty of room to wander without getting lost, and the artwork and flowers are perfect. And of course the pools are an attraction all their own: a series of waterslides, a "canyon river" with its own current, and the world's only ... Read more

We stayed at the Grand Wailea based on the recommendation of friends. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome. The hotel itself is located on beautiful grounds and the staff at the concierge as well as the front desk were very nice. There are however many things about the hotel that were a disappointment. The fact that we have to wake up and be by the pool at seven am in order to reserve a chair is very frustrating. How can a large hotel not have enough chairs in the pool are?. The pool... Read more

Beautiful layout. I can't say enough about the grounds, flowers, fountains, pools, and easy access to beach. There is a cute chapel on the ground. We had an amazing room with ocean front view. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The property has excellent restaurants with an excellent service. The valet parking is expensive at 30$/ day but again the service and efficiency is excellent.

Stayed in the Napua Tower and it was well worth the extra. Our room was 7050 and it was a fabulous room with a specular view overlooking the chapel and sunsets. Napua Amenities: Breakfast was REALLY GOOD, was almost a full buffet with assortments of breads, pastries, cereals (hot and cold), fresh fruit, meats cheeses, salmon and there was eggs, one meat and a pancake/French toast daily. Tea and Cookies was a nice touch, included coffee, tea (hot and cold), pop corn, bite sized chocolate cand... Read more

The hotel grounds are breath taking and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The pools are beautiful and never ending. Some feel a little crowded at times but you can find peace and quiet in other areas of the hotel. The room needed a little attention but it was very comfortable and the view was amazing. We would stay there again.

Very comfortable beds, felt like a rockstar for 8 days, being pampered and waited on. I loved this vacation and my family and I will be back for sure. Perfect Perfect Perfect Vacation!

There's nothing wrong with it, but compared to other Waldorf Astoria hotels, and comparably priced hotels in Maui, this one falls short. Our room was fine, but the common areas are worn and out dated. Reminds me of 1980s Poconos resort. Really needs a hard updating. Service was fine, but be prepared to open your wallet big time. That's pretty much the case everywhere in HI, but here it seems everything is an up sell. You want a cabana, more money. Recreational items, money. You may get m... Read more

We booked our entire honeymoon trip to the Grand Wailea on the island of Maui (including rental car and sunset dinner cruise) through Renee at Unforgettable Honeymoons. I was skeptical of booking through a third party travel agency at first, but upon arrival all my fears vanished. We've done a fair bit of traveling around the country, but this resort was unlike anything we've ever experienced. From the moment we arrived we felt extra special. The resort was absolutely stunning and all the hotel... Read more

September is a great time to go. We went for a mini-honeymoon the week following the Labor Day weekend. We just missed the tropical storm, and there were not a lot of families with children. We booked through Costco travel and got an amazing deal. We arrived at the airport at 10am, so I called to see if our room was ready. I was told the room was vacant and said they would contact housekeeping to prepare the room. We could also check-in early and leave our belongings with the bell desk unti... Read more

My wife and I returned this past August after being married on Maui in 2015 with family. This time it was just us. We stayed for 8 nights and had a great time. This is my 5th visit over the past 15 years. It's still an amazing place. If you have kids it's the place to be. This last time we walked the beach walk over to the Four Seasons and thought that next time if traveling just as a couple that might be a place to try. All in all, you can't beat the grounds and relaxing at the adult poo... Read more

This was our third trip to Hawaii and this time we decided to visit Maui for a week of relaxing to get over a very hectic work period. For this reason we decided to fork out the extra cash and stay at the Waldorf Astoria. Globally the brand is known to be at the top end of the Hilton portfolio, known for high quality living, top class service and delivering above your expectations. Unfortunately they didn't deliver what we had expected this time around. Firstly being avid travellers we have ... Read more

I was going to have to switch rooms since I made a mistake on my days and cut myself a day short and they were kind enough to take the extra step and let me stay in my beautiful 5th floor extra balcony ocean view room for the same cost and NOT have to move. First let me say the hotel is huge and the resort is beautiful. My kids loved the pool and the location and beach are awesome. We took a scuba course and the instructor was fantastic (both competent and funny). And it is so nice to be able to scuba and snorkel and see turtles right in front of the hotel. So why won't I be back..... There are several reasons. My family of 5 requires 2 rooms (and this is a pretty pricey/high end resort) and I guess I just feel like for my money I should be ... A much needed getaway was in order to heal, clear the mind and overall a hard reboot. We took a look at many destinations but Maui won. And it did not disappoint. We spent our 50th anniversary here and enjoyed it very much. The resort is beautiful and is quite peaceful this time of year. We had a deluxe ocean view room and enjoyed the sunset views very much. We were a bit disappointed that the lounges around the adult pool were limited. They reserve a great many of them even though they weren't being used. We couldn't figure out who was allowed to use them as most of them were empty. It left very view places for most of the guests. The few that w... Read more
