If you want to discover another side of Hawaii, this is it.
Perched on a lush, tropical peninsula surrounded by spectacular ocean vistas, The Hotel at Turtle Bay Resort is truly a vacation paradise. On all sides, magnificent emerald-blue ocean views extend as far as the eye can see from every one of the 375 guest rooms, 26 suites and 42 beach cottages.
Astounding Accomodations

Merge right onto the H2 Freeway. Continue on the H2 Freeway North to Wahiawa. Exit at Wahiawa (Exit 8) on to 80 (Kamehameha Hwy) through Wahiawa. Continue Northbound, 80 connects with 99. Stay on 99 to Haleiwa. The road now bypasses Haleiwa and becomes route 83. Continue on 83 approximately 20 minutes toward Kahuku. Turtle Bay Resort will be on the left hand side

"WONDERFUL STAY - ALL STARTED WITH AN EMAIL REQUEST FOR A ROOM WITH A GREAT OCEAN VIEW -AGENT RESPONDED WITH A NICE WELCOMING NOTE SAYING SHE WOULD PASS THE REQUEST ON. WE HAD THE MOST AMAZING VIEW! HOUSE KEEPING LADIES WERE OUTSTANDING - FRIENDLY AND TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF OUR ROOM - CAN'T SAY ENOUGH. THE SNORKLING BEACH STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ATTENTIVE TO HOTEL GUESTS. THE GROUNDS WERE WELL TENDED AND QUITE LOVELY. WE ENJOYED EVENING WALKS ON BOTH ENDS OF THE BEACH AS WELL AS AROUND THE HOTEL. IT WAS NICE THAT THEY HAD A HAWAII MADE LITTLE GIFT SHOP NEAR THE DOORWAY. IF I HAD A COMPLAINT, A MINOR NOTE THAT THERE WAS UPGRADING GOING ON WHICH WE COULD HEAR IN OUR ROOM IN THE MORNINGS. NOT REALLY A PROBLEM. DEFINITELY ONE OF OUR BEST VACATIONS :-) THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO AT THE RESORT AND IN OAHU COULD HAVE STAYED 3 MORE DAYS!"

"Amazing resort. Hiking trails, beaches, restaurants and more. Very friendly staff. It's a long drive outside the downtown Honolulu area, but that's the best part in my opinion. Huge waves and no shortage of great surfers to watch in the area."

"Location was a bit too far away, BUT I did not pick the North Shore; it was picked for me. As expected, food was overpriced at TB which prompted us to eat ALL meals away. The staff was super. IF I were a golfer or tennis player, those facilities looked super. Surely you plan on replacing the vinyl sign at the front of the property?"

"This was our first time to stay on the North Shore, but it was one of our best trips to Oahu. We usually prefer one of the other islands, but the North Shore and Leeward side were great. You are a good drive from most things on the island, but if you are into hiking this is the place to stay. The room was an ocean front single king an was fine for us. Meals at the resort are very good, but a bit expensive. Lei Lei's was our favorite on resort resturant. We found a local place, Papaole's which was amazing. They also provided advice on some places to hike that were outstanding."

"We had a wonderful time at Turtle Bay Resort. I spent a lot of hours on line before booking this room. Basically what I got out of the many, many reviews (usually on Trip Advisor) was that Oahu in general was extremely inflated and the $200-$250 rooms are what you expect from $100 room elsewhere in the country...that being said, I read reviews saying that if you can go for broke at Turtle Bay and splurge on a cottage those are truly luxurious and nice. I have nothing to compare it to because I've never spent $500 a night on a room before. Seems crazy. But we did it and it was wonderful. The lanai was oceanfront; staff delivered ice and towels twice a day...there was nightly entertainment by the poolside 'Hang Ten' bar and we thought the firedancers were terrific; we used the 'included' snorkeling equipment and that was fun...they gave us drink coupons on check in...we were in the hot tub every night...there was a lively exercise class in the pool one more (included)...all in all we really loved it. It sounded to me like the 1K option for 4 nights was going to be a big disappointment and 2K was going to be great, so that's why I splurged. BTW we enjoyed the very inexpensive dinners at a couple of shrimp trucks in the area."

"Turtle Bay, as advertised on this site and others, is supposed to be a four star resort. I had reserved a deluxe ocean view room with a large lanai overlooking the pool and ocean. The room we received upon checkin was on the second floor and the way the resort is designed the hotel rooms overlook a huge roof. From our room on the second floor, we saw lots and lots of roof with a limited view of the pool and ocean. The room was also in sad state of repair. The walls were dirty and loorboards covered in grime and dust. Apparently it hadn't had a good cleaning in quite some time. The bathroom caulking was partially torn out and yellowed, the bathroom fixtures were worn, the bathroom tissue and soap holders were cracked, the coffee pot lid was actually stuck to the coffee pot from not being cleaned, and the room carpet was dirty. My husband went to the front desk to address the situation and was told that no other rooms were available except on the other side of the hotel, but that room had only a small lanai. He chose not to take the room as we both really enjoy sitting out on the lanai. For what I paid per night for the room, I thought this was ridiculous. Based on the room condition, there is no way this is a four star resort. I then went down to the front desk and was told the same thing. I told the lady that this was in no way a four star resort and she told me that they were not and it should not be advertised that way. She was very nice and helpful and it took awhile for us to come to an acceptable agreement. Once I told her that my husband and I were there for our 30th anniversary, a room suddenly appeared available, this one on the fourth floor on the same side as the original one. This room did have a better pool and ocean view, but was still in the same sad state of repair. Turtle Bay did end up throwing in breakfast for the two of us each day for the rest of our stay. They have a lagoon side, which is great for snorkeling and kids to swim, and a surf side. The pools were small, but nice, and they were handicap accessible. The food and alcholic drinks there were way overpriced. However, I must add that since I have traveled a lot, it is common for resorts to be higher priced. However, I did feel they were excessively overpriced, $18 for french toast, no thank you. One restaurant/lounge does have happy hour for one hour only. I'm glad we had a rental car because we found some great places elsewhere to eat and drink. Our room did have a refrigerator but no microwave, which I was disappointed in. Overall, the resort is in a prime location with beautiful views. They are apparently in an upgrade mode, of which the resort is in dire need of. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurants was average and extremely overpriced. Since I had booked this room, as a four star resort as stated on your site, I had much higher expections. The greatest disappointment being the condition of the rooms. Had Turtle Bay not thrown in breakfast, I might have packed up and left. With breakfast I at least felt somewhat compensated for the overpriced, dirty room, as breakfast for the two of us at Restaurant 21 would have cost us at least $45 a day. I would never return to stay here unless conditions change."

"Stunning location, a perfect staff, and rooms that are quite comfortable, but a bit tired. The limited amenities included in the daily activities charge do not justify the fee. I don't care about an hour of tennis or an hour of volleyball, and I have my own snorkel equipment. Citing parking as part of the activities fee is manipulative. The only way to reach Turtle Bay, aside from the public bus, is by car, and this is not a city hotel. The fee seems an attempt to recover revenue from discounted rates. Overpriced meals and drinks, as is typical in resorts, and there is a limited number of restaurants in the area. The food is very good, however, and the service was excellent at Ola and at the Lobby Lounge. Golf was good, although again, the reasonable greens fee was offset by overpriced club rental and no discount whatsoever on the rental for a guest who had already paid the 'activity' fee."

"The staff was first class. The facility was better than first class. We had a problem with our first room and within minutes Terry made things right and better for us. He was first class all the way. The dining a was spectacular at Twenty One and Lei Lei just down the street, but, still on the property. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Nothing beats the ocean at your door with 15 feet high ceilings and a bathroom that makes my home living seem like the slums. THUMBS-UP to Turtle Bay...."

"I would have to say this was the best vacation ever. The hotel was fabulous with great restaurants and views of the ocean and great food. The room was very spacious and bed was very comfortable with a great ocean view. We walked the whole property and saw monk seals and lots of turtles on the bay side. We drove all over the north shore and the East shore and even made it into Waikiki for dinner one night. They hosted a surfing competitiopn at the hotel which we enjoyed watching and the waves were amazing. There was even a blowhole right beside the pool area to enjoy. The 21 restaurant had Ahi and Hamachi fish dishes to die for. For a well priced breakfast and lunch the golf course restaurant, Lei Leis was very good. The surfer bar always had some form of entertainment and Happy Hour nightly. I would say thumbs up for this resort!"

"The only negatives I had here were certainly not the resort's fault: the weather was unpredictable and very windy. We got rain on the beach a couple of times too.
That said, the grounds are delightful, very well kept and beautiful. The little beach near the villas in nice, but if you're looking for waves, you have to get out past the rocks. Walking the beach path is very nice scenery, I recommend going north along the beach to the point. Watch out for the Hawaiian Monk Seal along the way though... the signs say she can be dangerous.
We got a deluxe ocean front room, but be warned: the crashing surf can be very loud at times.
The food and drinks at the resort are very expensive: lunch for two is easily over $50, didn't try having dinner there. To the northeast (towards the Polynesian Cultural Center) are lots of shrimp trucks and other places to eat. Also fairly pricy but Romy's in Kahuku was excellent. Also in Hale'iwa (about 10 miles west) were some nice places... we ate at Hale'iwa Joe's, which was fabulous!
The nearby beaches are also worth visiting, including Ekuhai Beach Park (the famous Banzai Pipeline) and Waimea Bay.
Lastly, don't try going here without a rental car. There is really *nothing* within walking distance. The tourist areas in Waikiki are about 45 minutes to an hour away, about 15 minutes to Hale'iwa, and about the same the other way to Laie, which is where the Mormon Temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center are.
I recommend the Turtle Bay Resort for anyone looking for a leisurely vacation! Very nice, just wish we had a little better weather (went in Nov 2012)."

CRYSTAL from LONG BEACH, CA
"We're from the City so the last thing we wanted to do was to vacation IN another City. So out of curiosity we looked into the Turtle Bay Resort.
This was JUST THE THING we were looking for. It's on the side of the Island that is still very lush and feels secluded from the hustle and bustle of waikiki. PLUS you won't see a bunch of food chains you see out in your current city. The drive on the way to our resort was amazing!! There's a bunch of delicious 'Shrimp Trucks' and other food stops you can visit, the beaches are a dream, and the vibe is just more relaxing. You'll also be close to some of the more out of the way sites to see. I.e: Dole Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center, Teds bakery (deelish) Waimea Falls, Sharks Cove and the list goes on!
Quick tip: It's definitely worth renting a car during your stay. The north shore is about 45 min away from the airport. DO NOT take a shuttle because they sometimes charge up to $200 for ONE WAY. Our car rental was about $140 for our stay, and it gave us the freedom to frive anywhere we felt like on the island. Waikiki is definitely ok for a day trip. But if you live in LA, it's like Beverly Hills with a beach. We definitely recommend the North Shore. Absolutely STUNNING!
FOOD: The prices are very steep at the resort (and the food is average) so I recommend eating at the local spots (you can yelp locations on your phone) TRUST US it's a lot cheaper and a lot more delicious than what you'll get at the resort. We recommend Teds Bakery, Shrimp trucks along the road, Sharks Cove Grill and also any placed in Haleiwa, a town just 10 min from the resort. For you drinkers out there, make a stop at the local FoodLand for some libations, because those will cost you a pretty penny at the hotel too. Don't worry, there's a fridge in the rooms and ice machines on every floor ;)
All in all, We'll definitely be back!! ENJOY!!"

"This resort is perfect for honeymoons. My husband and I went there for ours, and it was amazing! We decided to spend a little more by getting a beach cottage and it was DEFINITELY worth it. Their room service was great, and the rooms were luxurious. The resort seems isolated from other places on the island which made it relaxing. If you want to explore the island, I believe the best way to go is to rent a car. We decided not to rent one and it was not a very good idea. To go from the resort to Honolulu was a little over $100 each way which seemed ridiculous. After trying that one day, we decided to ride public transportation which was not so great. It seemed safe and people were very friendly, but it took about 6 hours for a round trip to Honolulu.... Overall, I definitely recommend anyone who want to relax to stay at Turtle Bay Resort's beach cottages and if you really want to explore the island a car rental is A MUST!!!!"

"This was our second trip to Oahu, and our second stay at Turtle Bay Resort. We were treated excellent by the resort staff and found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. We love the peace and quiet of the North Shore and the Turtle Bay Resort. Yes, the rooms could be updated but who spends a lot of time in the room in Hawaii anyway? The beaches, pools and grounds of the resort are amazing. Great views, great snorkeling and great daily activities. "We came to Turtle Bay to celebrate our 25th Wedding Annivesary with the Honeymoon we always wanted. The Beach Front Cottage was even better than the pictures on the web site. We had the best sunsets everyday. The staff all around from the Front Desk to the Bellmen to Housekeeping were very friendly and accomadating. My Husband has a very bad back and was having a hard time sleeping in the bed, he asked if there was any way they could bring in a couch and THEY DID. Wow I've never seen a Hotel go above and beyond to try to make a guest more comfortable. I seldom give a review the highest marks but I would highly recommend this Resort to anyone. "

"Over all a very nice resort. However the room we stayed in was in need of a facelift. It is an old building and it shows in the room we stayed in, but it was clean and comfortable. The resort grounds are beautiful and the staff was nice and helpful. The reasturants and bar did seem over priced to me. I always get a sence of being 'nickle and dimed' in Hawaii and at this resort sitting alone on the north shore I definetly had that feeling. So we ate most of out meals away from the resort. A great place to relax but there was nothing uniquly Hawaiian about the resort so be prepared to drive elswhere to experience a more traditional hawaii vibe.
We had a very nice vacation and I would recommend Turtle Bay as the place to go if you want a relaxing vacation on Oahu."

"Our trip with 2 boys, 18 and 14 was wonderful. Turtle Bay sits on spectacular acreage; with miles of shoreline, a gorgeous golf course and a large pool overlooking the ocean. The sunsets from the North shore can't be beat!! The opportunities for things to do was incredible, our favorite being the 90 minute Segway tour through sandy trails and along the coast! Food is pricy, for sure, but we found that eating the breakfast buffet later in the morning, almost saved us a big meal each day and was the most bang for our buck! Rent a car and tour the nearby beaches, they are wonderful. The bathrooms could use upgrading, but they were clean and the beds and pillows were comfy! Check out the adventure center and you will be amazed at the options of things to do...just bring your credit card, ours is still smoldering, but we'd do it again tomorrow!"

"If we were to return to Oaho in the future, we will definitely pick Turtle Bay over staying in Honolulu. Much more laid back, fewer people, and beautiful beaches. Room had a stunning view of the ocean (unfortunately also a view of a big ugly roof). Lots of amenities, although you pay handsomely for them. One drawback to having everything (including 5 restaurants, shops, tours, etc.) in one place - very high prices. If you go, definitely rent a car. There are good restaurants off-resort that are much cheaper, and in some cases, have better food."

Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or as a family; this resort can and will accomodate everyone. "This a great place to stay. There is so much to do at the resort that you don't have to go anywhere else on the island. But it is almost 1 hour from Waikiki, so keep that in mind. The restaurant's are obviously expense, but you can drive a bit west and find a few local restaurants. There are a lot of kids at the resort so if you want to sleep-in, make sure NOT in the room with pool views.
Make sure to just walk around the resort. They have some of the best gardens I've seen."

"Our trip started with a not so friendly experience with our check in which unfortunately set the tone for the trip. When we checked in we were told we didn't pre-pay (which we had) and they had someone else's credit card listed on our account. We were told after some investigation that it was taken care of, but had to go through it all again upon check out. We found some of the staff to be exceptionally friendly (housekeeping) and some to be cold and almost rude. On the positive side, the area and grounds are beautiful and I feel that compared to other resorts in Hawaii the things included with the resort fee are a good value. Although the bathrooms are outdated we were expecting this from reading other reviews, and I was impressed with the size of the rooms and the fact that all of the rooms have an ocean view. Overall I would say our experience was average and I would need some convincing to stay again."

"Our stay at Turtle Bay Resort was for a period of 33 days. March 3 to April 5, 2013
Excited for our first visit to the very beautiful location of Hawaii..off we were.
Upon our arrival we found the hotel under much needed repair and updating which included rooms, the main restaurant, outdoor areas, fitness centre and the spa.
The rooms are very old and musty.I wouldn't walk on the dirty rugs without sandals. The old tub was in dire need of repair...with chips out of it ,a plug that didn't work and mold around the seal.Four old heavily painted wooden slatted sliders covered the lanai doors and the bed was miserably cheap. Miserably.
The cleaning staff did a fantastic job. We were allowed a change of bedding every third day.
There is a $25.00 per day charge for use of WiFi,newspaper,1 hour scuba gear,if you dive etc , and free parking if you rent a car.
I had contacted the management at Turtle Bay before we left on the trip and discussed waiving the $25.00 per day fee . Some better resorts will either lower the daily fee or cut it out entirely after a stay of 30 days or more. The manager informed me that he was sorry but they wouldn't consider doing that .There were other amenities they would assure us to enhance our trip.
Our first evening brought us a pleasant surprise of a beautiful fresh fruit tray. The two $3.00bottles of water, although, were to be billed to our room. That was it....for the whole 33 days.No complimentary welcome drink, nothing for the restaurants that WERE open..nothing.
On our 33 rd. day ..we had a checkout time of 11:00 am. Our flight didn't leave until 10.00 that evening I asked if we could have an extended time in our room and they said it would cost but we could have a key for a 'complimentary room' for a 1/2 hr. to freshen up at 5:30. Uh..thanks.
One true blessing was the scenery on Oahu ..it is is breathtaking.Hawaii is gorgeous and we were blessed to have witnessed such beauty.
I feel horrible to have to write something so negative but I truly don't want anybody to be in this same position...ever. I wish I could have read an honest opinion of this resort.
We have traveled a fair bit ..from low end, middle the road... to this. All by our own choice...but NEVER have we felt so taken advantage of.
If your considering accommodations at Turtle Bay...PLEASE..spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

"If you want drinks on the beach, a quiet secluded honeymoon, and what felt like a royal vacation; stay at turtle bay. From the moment of check in, we were met with complete aloha. Our stay was excellent from start to finish! Highly recommend dinner at 21 degrees north. Device and food were fantastic and the bartender created a pineapple upside down martini that was to die for! The bed was so comfortable, and the ambience of the room was so relaxing."

"tHE ROOMS WERE GREAT THE BEDS AND PILLOWS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE. THE PARKING SITUATION IS HORRENDOUS.THE LOT IS NOT BIG ENOUGH BY FAR,AND THE VALET PARKING IS CLOSER THAN THE SELF PARKING! THERE WERE SEVERAL GOLF CARTS BUT NOT ONCE EVEN AT NIGHT DID I SEE ANYONE RUNNING THESE FOR GUESTS.I CALLED THE HOTEL BEFORE I ARRIVED AND WAS TOLD THE PARKING WAS FREE,HOWEVER WHEN I ARRIVED, I FOUND OUT I HAD TO PAY A RESORT FEE,AND WAS TOLD THIS FEE INCLUDED PARKING.
I DON'T CALL 26.18 PER DAY FREE.I WOULD RETURN IF THE HOTEL COULD GET THE PARKING MORE ORGANIZED AND START RUNNING A SHUTTLE FOR THE LOTS."

"Very nice experience. Clean hotel, friendly staff. Told them at booking that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, when we arrived, the lady at check-in congratulated us and asked if we'd like champagne or non-alcoholic sparkling cider. I chose sparkling cider. Later that evening, champagne arrived. I called and said I didn't want to complain about a gift, but that I had requested sparking cider. Less than 5 minutes later, they switched it out. All complimentary. Next day our TV went on the fritz ... called the desk, less than 5 minutes later repairman arrives, 10 minutes later TV fixed. On check-out day, called housekeeping to bring us a souvenir mug & stuffed toy for our granddaughter, less than 5 minutes later gifts arrived. Clean room, nice bed, big bathroom, nice balcony with view. Hiked about 2 miles along the horse trail and found a nice, secluded beach on the property that we had all to ourselves for about 3 hours. Will be going back someday."

"Turtle Bay is the most gorgeous place. The people are very nice and the place is so pretty. There are many things to do for an extra fee. It is on the North Shore and very secluded. A perfect place for a honeymoon!!! We would go back in a heart beat."

"We went to Turtle Bay for my nephews wedding. What an extremely beautful place to have a wedding. Turtle Bay is not only a beautiful place for a wedding but also a very peaceful and relaxing place for a vacation. We enjoyed ourselves and did not want to return home. The people of Hawaii are just the most relaxed people I have ever met. Also we ate at the same resaurant as a local celebrity who stars on Hawaii five o how exciting......Mahala"

"My family and I stayed at Turtle Bay Resort in May 2011, and we all loved it. The views were spectacular, the pool was awesome and we loved that we could sleep all night enjoying the sound of waves crashing all night long. We also loved the free snorkel gear rentals and the staff was so friendly, we never walked by any of the staff members without them saying 'aloha' and stop to ask us how we were doing and if we needed anything. We will definitely be going back real soon we fell in love with Turtle Bay."
