Sitting on the beautiful Maluaka Beach in south Maui, Makena Beach and Golf Resort offers 1,800 acres with an ancient and storied past mixed with the modern luxuries of the Hawaiian experience. Makena Beach and Golf Resort is blessed with magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and lush green golf courses, while at the same time sitting at the base of one of the most spectacular sights in Hawaii, Mount Haleakala.

RECREATION

Swimming or sunning on Maluaka Beach, snorkeling in the world-renowned Turtle Town, stepping up your game with stand-up paddle boarding or an unforgettable ride in an outrigger canoe. There are activities on and off the resort property to make your vacation a fun and unique experience. The experiences at Makena Beach and Golf Resort will energize your body and restore your spirit while talking in the natural splendor of Maui. The resort features two swimming pools, two Jacuzzis, a fitness center, and massage therapy. Furthermore, Makena Beach and Golf Resort also affords hiking trails and an on-site weekly luau. Other beach activities include kayak eco-tours, whale watching [in season], scuba diving, and more.

Want a break from the warm, clear blue waters? Go play golf on the spectacular 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Jr. course. As well as an 18-hole golf course, the facility offers a driving range, putting green, pro shop, clubhouse, and instructional courses.

PLEASE NOTE:
Beginning April 1, 2013 the golf course will be closed for a multi-million dollar improvement program, and will re-open early 2014. The golf course is detached from the hotel and will not impact guests. Cafe on the Green will remain open daily for lunch, afternoon snacks and dinner. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Zen-Zen Restaurant Pacifica - Delicious Pacific Rim fusion cuisine and delectable selections from the Sushi Bar served in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Zen-Zen`s enticing medley of flavors includes fresh sashimi, exotic selections from land and sea, plus cocktails, sake, shochu, beer and fine wines.

Poolside Snack Bar [Open daily] - For those who prefer to soak up every drop of Maui sunshine, light fare is offered while relaxing poolside. Fantastic frozen cocktails and a yummy children`s menu make this the perfect place to relax for the day.

Makena Clubhouse (Open daily) - The Makena Clubhouse offers fabulous views of an endless emerald fairway stretching to the Pacific. Golfers and resort Guests enjoy this picturesque setting for a tasty lunch, late afternoon pupu [appetizers] and their favorite beverages. "ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!! This was my first time in Maui and I must commend Makena Beach & Golf resort!!! We had a marvelous time spending our vacation here!!!
The staff was outstanding, friendly, courteous, effecient and helpful in every way! Our favorite bartender was terrific!! Don't loose him!
The rooms were outstanding, clean and had a view to die for!!
We enjoyed the fact that this resort is away for the usual hub bub of tourists, nice and quiet at night and full of fun during the day. If you want some of the hub bub, only 30-45 minutes away, which we did frequently during the day. Alot of the ocean excursions go out of Lahaina...fun little oceanfront town!

"The staff cleaning the rooms was very friendly, same for the reception staff.
The ladies at the information desk could put more effort into their job. I was told that there was no availability for car rentals. But I called Kihei Rent a car and had a rental vehicle booked for the next day within 15 min.
The beach was great, just a short walk to the big beach."

"Very, very over priced! The continental breakfast is just a big joke! It was disgusting! The breakfast buffet was way over priced, who the heck eats $25.00 worth of food for breakfast!! "My wife and I decided to come to Maui, HI to celebrate our honeymoon there. After deliberating on where to stay, we decided to go to Makena. We were very impressed with our overall stay there. The breakfast was a buffet, and had a wide selection, needless to say we always found something to eat and were often full from breakfast that we didn't need to eat lunch. In the evening, our stay was very nice. After a long day, we would typically enjoy our dinner on the balcony where we can see the sunset along with the waves crashing along the beach, it was an ideal spot for our honeymoon. Sometimes, if late enough, when we would hang out outside at our balcony, we can actually see deers eating. Two cons about this place; 1) Its location was far from most places and 2) no microwave in the room. But if you are looking for a serene and quiet place (which we were), then this place is for you. Having no microwave was not that big of a deal, but it would have been nice to have a microwave, especially if you had left overs and you wanted to reheat some food. Overall, I would highly recommend Makena to anyone who wants to spend their honeymoon in Hawaii."

"The rooms are lovely. The pool is fabulous and the poolside snacks are reasonable. Golf here is VERY expensive. The restaurants are VERY expensive.
One of the best things about this resort is proximity to the beach-it's a two minute walk from the pool and the snorkeling is great."
