The restaurants ...wonderful .... The snack bars ... Great ! And the drinks ... To die for ... Must I say more ??? One of the largest pools I think I've ever seen ... Waikiki is over priced, overbooked and overrun. I fear to give a review of my experience at Kaua'i Marriott Resort and contribute to doing the same to Kawa'i, but here goes.... For those looking for Hawaii, look no further, Kawa'i is the place. Its relaxed, the people are friendly, there are no big shopping malls and there is plenty... or nothing.... to do. The Marriott Kaua'i resort was nothing short of fantastic. The pool is amazing, the beach is the same beach used in the movie Donnevan's R... Read more

The Kauai condos for Marriott Reward members are very nice and spacious. They have grilling areas with picnic benches and picnic tables very family friendly. Unfortunately when you go to the big pool at the hotel do not take your beach towels from the condo because security will hunt you down and deny you chairs. You are allowed on the beach because it is public. And of course you can spend money in the spa and the restaurants!

Just got back from our two week timeshare vacation at the Kalapaki Beach Marriott. We love this place, it's always great, but we found out they are changing things and not for the better. They are closing down Kalapaki Grill, the best pool bar you could ask for; the staff is beyond friendly, the food & drinks are great and you always find someone new to talk to, everyone is relaxing and having fun. They are also closing down Aupauka Terrace, too, another bar that is upstairs over the pool are... Read more

Nice hotel, good customer service...but we had the far tower and took a wrong turn due to a combination of bad directions and bad sense of direction. When we tried to park in the lot near that tower, it was tiny so we ended up all the way up the hill. The carpet in our room was still damp when we arrived so that disappointing, but great hospitality from Bell redeemed the Marriott. Good enough for us...

The resort is enormous and very pretty. Our room was a nice size with a big bathroom. Unfortunately we had no view at all while our friends, in the same booking, had lovely views of the beach and pool. Not sure how that worked! We had been told we would get an upgrade but didn't. The cost of food and drinks was exorbitant. A cocktail was $13 US and I would say they were very watered down. More a pleasant fruity cordial. However some nice wines were on offer but still expensive. The restau... Read more

This hotel has a lot going for it. Beautiful landscape, awesome pool, nice beach with little to no waves if that suits you. If not, there are other beaches nearby you can get to if you have a car. There are various restaurants on the property, but I'm not a big breakfast eater and because we spent all our time out sight seeing etc I don't think we ever ate at the hotel restaurants. Within walking distance were local food options of pizza, burgers, ice cream etc. There's an awesome donut shop in... Read more

The first thing that always shocks me when we go to Hawaii is the price but now I have just come to terms with the fact that Hawaii is expensive. But with that being said we have been to several resorts we felt were way overpiced. The Kauai Marriott was worth the price tag and we had a great time staying at this beautiful resort. This is my second time staying at this resort for a work function. My previous stay was back in 2012. Since then the rooms have been remodeled and although it is a... Read more

We have stayed at this location no less than 10 times over the last 18 years. I have always looked forward to coming back. This year, as I sit by the pool I can honestly say this is the most disappointed I have been and it is probably my last time to visit unless some changes are made. First the positive: We always stay in an ocean front one bedroom suite. They are spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. Each one has a nice balcony overlooking the beach and beautiful bay. We returned to what was our favorite hotel, and found the rooms, halls, elevators all run down and not kept up in the past 7 years. The rooms are "bleh" but clean, just outdated and need some upkeep. The grounds and still beautiful, and the pool and beach can not be beat. The food has gone down hill. There is no room service anymore, only what they call quick bites. There is no breakfast menu only brunch, which was bland, and average at best. The pool side lunch spot has been closed. It seems mo... Read more

The Marriott hotel itself is not much to look at. The rooms are nice and clean and the grounds well kept. The pool was wonderful and big. My kids especially liked the kid's pool that came with a slide. The beach in front of the hotel barely has anyone on it. It seemed calm but also not that clean. Being an MVC owner and having traveled to many of their resorts this one Is a little disappointing to me. The beach is beautiful and the resort is almost magical as you enter at night with the torches lit, but, given that the owners fees are really high for the Hawaii resorts every year, I'd expect updated elevators and rooms, clean hallways, without common doors that are beat up and dingy, clean balconies that don't have loose railings, and laundry facilities that are clean. The beach and location within the island is great. But there are better places for the same price to stay. I would recommend a nice complete uplift of this Marriot unit.

As my stay at the Marriott Kauai Resort comes to a close, I'm thinking about what I enjoyed most about this property. Being located right on the beach meant having the gentle ocean waves lull me to sleep each night. The grounds are kept up like a gorgeous tropical garden, doing the Garden Isle proud. There is much to see on the resort with statues and paintings all over the place, including 2 separate art galleries. There is a jewelry shop with a friendly no pressure owner. There is a magn... This hotel was a wonderful place to stay. I would definitely return to this resort one day. There are many restaurants that are in walking distance and the staff at the restaurants on the property are wonderful. We didn't go to any activities while at the hotel but they offered many. And the fitness center was really nice! One of the best I have seen at a hotel.

We are Marriott time share owners with our home resort in Maui. These resorts are very similar since they were both converted from a hotel. We prefer the layout of the one bedroom with kitchenette in Maui. It is better laid out and more spacious. The Murphy bed is cool but takes up too much space. I don't need a full kitchen just more room in the room. We had a beautiful ocean view and preferred this beach front over Maui. We ate at the Aupaka Terrace for breakfast once. Way too pricey. ... My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Kaua'i Marriott Resort. The location is central to most attractions on Kaua'i, The rooms are fairly spacious, and the Ocean View rooms have great sunrise views. The beachfront is in a protected harbor which makes it perfect for kids. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, and the pool is exceptional. Dining options on site are very good, especially Duke's. Beautiful and very conveniently located property near the Kauai airport. The hotel felt a little too huge at times though. The service could have been better. The guy at the Marriott vacation club reminded me of a used car salesman, very slimey but he thought he was being smooth. Pool areas are very nice as is the beach. Rooms are mediocre. Elevators are beat up. Go if you're able to get around the service issue.

The staff at this hotel is wonderful, especially Tanya who checked us in. Tanya was friendly and extremely helpful with all our questions. The pool is sparkling clean and very large with water features and jacuzzis. The beach is steps away with plenty of chairs and shade trees. Many restaurants to choose from. I loved this place and would most likely stay here again.

I booked a direct flight that got us in at dusk so I knew I wanted something close. Easy shuttle that took 5 minutes to get us to the resort. It's mostly timeshares but an entire building is hotel only. Clean and large rooms and even a partial ocean view was fine. (Become a Marriott rewards member to get a good deal). The property is well maintained and lovely. A bit of a trek from the shuttle drop off to the check in and rooms so take advantage of the bag service-worth the tip! Good gentle beac... Read more

The grounds are amazing, along with view from the room. We had a partial ocean view room, but saw the entire bay. Rooms are clean and crisp. The staff are very friendly. If are you there sans children make sure your room is not directly above the kids pool.

The Marriott is very well kept and the staff is super helpful. We had an ocean front one bedroom room. The views were fantastic and the room was clean. They said the hotel was full but there was always room at the pool, beach and restaurants. It is easy walking distance to food and shoppes on Tuesday you can take the free shuttle to the mall. A taxi ride is $16 one way. The grounds are very well kept and the beach is perfect for swimming, surfing or just floating in a raft. Always a volley ball... Read more

pool service was mixed. Frank made the experience of getting your towel akin to seeing you bank manager and asking for a loan rather than a pleasant experience. We are on holiday so loosen up. Waitress by the pool said if you want iced water get it yourself. Come on guys!

This is the 4th time I've stayed here. We spent one night in a hotel room with not much of a view. The other 7 nights in a villa. The villa was a corner unit on the 8th floor with views of the hotel pool and ocean. The rooms were comfortable and in fine shape. The beds were comfortable. The temperature was fine. The Shower water was hot. We didn't hear any noise from the hallway or neighbors. Pool side service from Lei was great. She was very kind. The bell desk was always helpful and friendly.... Read more

My family has been staying in the villas at the Kauai Marriott Resort for nearly 20 years now. We come just about every other year and really love it. The property is well maintained and it is in a great location. The beach is a bit of a cove, so the ocean isn't too rough for swimming or hanging out, but you can do some surfing and paddle boarding (not great for snorkeling though). The resort pool is great, with hot tubs and a children's pool. The resort is near the airport, making it a qui... Read more

I am a firm believer people make a vacation positive or negative. The Front Desk personnel were the most pleasant. Ana and Amor made my day. I wished they worked for me. Check-in was a breeze. I enjoyed visiting with them every time I passed the front desk. Ruby, the concierge, was truly amazing. She arranged all our excursions for us, even providing us with leis for a luau. I have traveled around the world and have stayed at many beautiful places, people like Ruby come along once in a lifetime.... Read more

The pros: Beautiful resort, right on the beach with just about every amenity you can think of. The bedding is amazing and certainly aids in relaxing you!! I'm ordering their pillows! Housekeeping is definitely on top of things! Great shower pressure. I would definitely stay here again. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and hopefully you can avoid the cons. The cons: Attention to the little things, need to be worked on. Getting served at Kukui's restaurant .... we've had both excellen... Read more

The beach is a bay with very calm waters great for swimming ( but be aware there can be strong undercurrents) Dukes barefoot Bar serves great food. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Checking in was quick and problem free. wasn't given any information about the hotel or what was available and when at check in. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a great view. We tried really hard not to eat at the resort because breakfast cost us $80 and one lunch with cocktails was $140. There is an ABC store in walking distance so do yourself a favor and load up on booze for your room there. We found the location to be nice as we could access both sides of the island easily. The overall resort is a little dated but well maintained. The staff is friendly. The pool is awesome. The room service is surprising goo... Read more

We started out at this hotel for our 25 yr anniv trip. Absolutely beautiful pool area! Amazing landscape and gardens all around & a great location near airport. The cove is decent(great view of mountain but not the greatest of the ocean). Slightly higher and if not for the bigger bathroom and gorgeous pool area and koi pond I'd say it was over priced. But a great stay overall.

My wife and I had such a wonderful time! We really enjoyed the beach as while we were in Kauai the surf was really high and dangerous. The Kalapaki beach is in a protective bay which allowed us to safely swim in the ocean. The views from our room were breathtaking. The rooms were very nice as well. We really enjoyed the on site restaurant Kukui's. Their breakfast buffet was very good! We also ate dinner there a few nights and weren't disappointed. Toro Tei sushi bar was fabulous! Staff was SO friendly (shoutout to valet, housekeeping, Ricky at the bar and MIss Amy at breakfast buffet), the grounds were pristine. you're right on the beach and the bay keeps the water nice and calm. the pool is HUGE but a little cold. lots of reviews say the rooms are outdated, i couldn't disagree more. maybe it wasn't worth it to pay extra for a ocean-view room because i think any room in the resort would have a nice view. if you want to save $$ and eat outside the resort i would suggest w... We have no complaints. The location, resort and staff are excellent. Stayed for seven nights. Staff is top notch here. We are now at the Sheraton at Kaanapali in Maui and it's no comparison. The Marriott in Kauai has set the bar very high. We toured the island and are sure that if we return it will be to this Hotel. I hope management realizes what a fantastic staff they have. This place is a real gem.

Stayed in October 2016 for 6 nights on a honeymoon. Property and location were great. Pools are nice, plenty of lounge chairs, great beach space and great pooliside/beachside service. Rooms were just OK. We had a great view (that we payed extra for) and a large room and bathroom. However, on the first night I had to pick up 3 bath towels before I could find one without a stain on it. We were so pleased with the Kaua'i Marriott. Hospitality and service were excellent. Food and location were outstanding. We had an amazing beach view. We traveled to some other beaches in the area and nothing compared to the view from the hotel. We didn't like the view of our first room or that we could hear the elevator and they gave us a free upgrade the very next night at no cost. The second room was gorgeous and very spacious. We would recommend this to anyone.

Kaua'i Marriott Resort has to be hands down the best resort I've ever stayed in all over the world. We paid for the cheapest room category, I think it was a garden view room and it was beautiful, modern and clean, not to mention quiet! Just out of the way enough to be relaxing but still close enough to the pool and everything else. The service was amazing from all of the staff. The car parking was easy, the pool was huge! The room- clean and functional room Ocean view is a must at this hotel. Nice comfortable bed. Also it was contemporary. Beware if you get the garden view loud roosters will wake you up! Because they make noise in the morning and roam the resort. I could only faintly hear it from the top floor ocean view. Room service- 2 stars. Thiswas the only disappointment. For a 4-5 star resort I was expecting white cloth and silverware service. What we got was food sent up in a bag wrapped in a plastic box... Read more

Right on the beach. Beautiful, clean, comfortable hotel. Beautiful pool. Wonderful, friendly staff. I came in October and just had to come back in Nov for my annual birthday trip. It's an amazing place. Kauai is now my favorite Hawaiian island. So relaxing, peaceful, beautiful and it just makes me happy to be here. Safe and convenient to everything. The gorgeous, gigantic pool and the beach (which is a public beach) are free, but just about every other activity and amenity has a (significant) charge attached to it. Self parking is $18/day and quite a ways away. Rooms are in older buildings, but have been tastefully redone and are quite comfortable.

The 1st interaction sets the tone: late check-in made easy and welcome by Shanda who offered me towels for a late swim since the pool cabana was already closed. This after noting I had traveled 000's of mile and 16+ hours from the east coast. So thank you, just what I needed! Stayed here for two nights until our week at the Waiohai Marriott was ready. The rooms are beautiful - pocketed door to the lanai, Wolf stove, Subzero refrigerator. The location is very quiet and if you don't want a ton of kids around, it's a good place to go. On the other hand, the pool is small and there were still a lot of small kids, so maybe not as quiet as advertised. This was the second leg of our first anniversary trip around Hawaii. We had several adventures planned in Kauai and did not plan on spending much time at the resort itself. From the time we DID spent there, we were not all that impressed. There was just something impersonal about it. We don't own a timeshare, but we seem to have stayed at quite a few [Maui, Palm Desert, etc.] Yes, we did the math and it still didn't make sense for us to purchase....
