We stayed here for 7 nights with our 11 m old. Our flight was delayed so by the time we checked in our hotel, it was already passed midnight. We were given our key to the room right away on building 3 and on 3rd floor and it is a very short walk to the front desk. The room is a bit tired and dated but that's ok, because after all we are there to rest and relax and spend most of our time outdoor on various activities. The bell man that helped us that night, I forgot to get his name... We asked h... Read more

Sheraton Maui was clean, good rooms and good views. The resort facilities were great. But you end up paying for umbrellas and beach chairs on top of the resort fee. The black rock beach was always extremely crowded when we went. We always ended up stepping out to other public beaches.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Maui for 7 nights. The room was in bldg. 4, and it was spacious enough for two mobility carts to charge at night. The king size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom amenities are what you would expect at any higher end Hotel/Resort. The room, including the lanai, was kept very clean by housekeeping. The view from our room was spectacular. We had a very nice view of the ocean, the pool and the immaculate grounds. The grass was manicured to nearly putting green... Read more

The view is great from every spot at this hotel. Fun to watch people jump off of Black Rock. Snorkeling is really good. Huge sea turtles come really close to shore. Food was delicious at the Black Rock Kitchen. The pool had bean bag type floats that you could sit on and float around the lagoon pool. Really relaxing. Every stall person we encountered were so friendly. Rooms have a refrigerator. Loved it here and will definitely stay here again.

I stayed for 4 nights in August in a room with mountain views. the room was spacious and I appreciated being able to sit on the verandah and also having the door open during the day. The resort has a resident's laundry which includes washing machines and driers, which I used as I had been travelling for a while. The massage as the Spa was also very good and welcome after a couple of long flights. The free shuttle bus which ran most of the day and well into the evening was a great way to get arou... Read more

The good part first: the beach here is wonderful and the best spot for snorkeling on the island. Mornings are less crowded so if you want to enjoy a relaxing snorkel, get out there before the crowds arrive. The Sheraton rents nice two-person cabanas if you want to have some control over how much sun you are getting (and you should watch out because that sun can be brutal). Now the hotel: it's tired and a bit dull. The setting can't be beat, but the hotel for us, after several visits over the pa... Read more

The resort is located on and spread around black rock, and is right on the beach. Great place for black activities and snorkeling. Because of the reefs close to black rock, there are quite a few fish around, also turtles. There is fresh water lagoon, with a hot tub. Several restaurants for bar foods and sit-down. The room is adequate, not fantastic - we had an ocean view, and the scenery is fantastic, especially in the morning. The hotel has onsite self service coin operated laundry facili... Read more

I knew I wanted to relax and snorkel at the place I chose, and this place is bar none the best spot around the area for snorkeling thanks to black rock. I stayed in building 2 (a very long walk from the lobby) in a partial ocean view. This was a great spot, as it looked out over the grounds, then the pool, then black rock and the ocean. Perfect. The room was well sized and laid out nicely, and the bed was comfortable and modern in sheeting. The bathroom was also fine, and I love a shower head th... Read more

Great location. Nice staff. Be prepared for a lot of tacked on charges including resort fee and parking. Place is kind of a rat maze to navigate the first couple days. Don't book with the concierge desk. They take a 50 percent cut from the vendor. Book direct and typically save 10 percent.

Excellent resort. Awesome location, the beach at black rock allows even novice snorkellers or good swimmers to get out into turtle territory. I saw 3 in 6 ocean swims, plus fish. The free shuttle into Lahaina is great and provides access to more food and some shopping options. We didn't get to all of them, which means we have to come back. Whalers Village is walking distance and has a good range of shops, from cheap and cheerful to high end. Kahala shirts was my favourite - classy Hawaiian shir... Read more

Our stay at the Sheraton in Maui was excellent. It was an enjoyable weekend for us (my wife and 1 year old son). The food was quite expensive wherever you went (poolside bars, restaurants and room service). It was generally quite good though (quesadilla was very nice), though we ordered a couple of burger set meals and both burgers were overcooked (especially since we asked for medium-rare and medium). They are extremely generous with the condiments. We were given 17 ketchup packets, a similar ... Read more

I absolutely loved this resort! The staff was extremely friendly, and they catered to our every need. We decided last minute that we wanted to do a luau, and even though there were no spots left for their Luau, they were able to help us find another location to enjoy the show. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast daily, which had a lot of options. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Stayed at this property twice now (once in 2013 and once just a week ago). Both times it was great! We are platinum members for SPG so we get a welcome gift of chocolates, free valet parking, free internet, and free breakfast. Staff is very friendly and we've been upgraded to suites both visits. The rooms are very nice and they stock them with free bottles of water - they also have water stations at the pool to refill bottles while laying out. Breakfast has a big variety to pick from. We had booked a partial ocean view room, but this proved to be facing the other way to the ocean. After some negotiation, we paid extra for a room with a great view facing along the beach and the use of the lounge. While there was a fair walk to reception/Starbucks coffee/transport, we were very close to the Mai Tai bar for lunch and to the beach for swimming. The beach is a superb stretch of sand with excellent swimming - including with some turtles. The resort is not a new, modern hotel like... Read more

Overall the hotel was alright. The layout of the hotel was too convoluted. We had to take 5 elevators to get to the beach or breakfast restaurant. The hotel has multiple disconnected levels that add to the confusion. To rent a cabana on the beach cost approx $60 USD/day. It would be impossible to spend any amount of time on the beach without shade. So either you hang out at the pool, or you pay for a cabana. Spent 6 glorious days at the Sheraton. Daily buffet breakfast was delicious. Dined at the Black Rock restaurant twice and food was very good. Front desk needs some work. The manager said he had reservations but a lot of tables sat empty. Guess he didn't figure on cancellations. Dined at pool bar 2 evenings. Good fish tacos and burgers. This hotel is located in a nicer part of the lower Kaanapali Beach, where you can enjoy snorkeling right on this beach. The pool area is large, and decent. Pro's: -well, you're on the island of Maui and a resort is a nice way to enjoy it. -pool, cabana's, beach, snorkel, peace, culture -great for kids Con's: -you pay a daily resort fee...so USE the resort!!! Use the pool, etc. -car parking (even a rental) isn't cheap whilst on the property, although first night is free.... Read more

We stayed here for our honeymoon and was disappointed, for the money we paid we could have easily stayed somewhere far better at fraction of the price. The reception staff were rude and showed no drive or passion for the job they are in. The bar staff and pool staff were amazing and if it wasn't for these guys I would not have given the 3 star rating. Rooms aren't all that at all, not even any complimentary water in the room is shocking.

My husband and I had not been to Maui in over 25 years. We picked this location because of the Maui marathon. The price was reasonable. We booked a room with a king size bed. Upon arriving we were told our 'partial' ocean view room with a king was not available. We could upgrade to a full ocean view room to get a king. Seems they want to upgrade and charge you more. We chose to keep the originally booked type of room with two double beds. The beds were old, could feel the springs, were hard and uncomfortable. First off, our hotel stay was simply amazing. My husband and I actually booked a mini stay-cation after our wedding this past Friday. On Sunday evening at 6:00 pm, we had a reservation for "Dinner Under the Stars." It was a perfect view of Black Rock during sunset and very romantic. My Menu: Ahi Sashimi Trio, Waipoli Greens Salad, Fresh Catch of the Day with Mashed Potatoes and Apple Pie dessert (There was a fancier name but I failed to remember what it was.) Let's start with the good here: This property is a great location with an awesome pool area. And if that's really all you care about, then it's perfect. But, we had some problems.. First, the pool restaurant staff is very inattentive. We rented a pool cabana for the day and they checked on us once. There was a sign on our cabana that said you can download an app and order your food. Seems like a great idea -- except the app doesn't work. So we asked them to come over and take a food order. Is this the most modern hotel? No. But it's still in great condition and the staff is super friendly. Also, you can't beat the Sheraton's location! The beach is perfection - snorkeling, crystal clear water, no seaweed. It can get a little crowded so invest in a cabana. Worth it! The hotel is spread out, but you get the lay of the land pretty quickly. Request a room on an upper floor to get the best views. You can't beat the breakfast buffet. Plenty of selection and options. We splurged for an ocean front room. The view and location are truly unbeatable. ("Location" includes being close to Whaler's Village, water activities, etc.). The location is unquestionably THE draw here. The room itself was clean and fine. We had dinner on the balcony at least a couple of times. Hotel was busy, but front desk and valet service was consistently friendly and good. (We paid fairly steep resort and valet fees though.) The pool itself was excellent, with a few "complaints." ... He says it looks worse than it really is. Two issues we had with the actual hotel: they charge for beach lounge chairs and umbrellas ($55/day for hotel guests). The location is beautiful and the pool amenities are very nice as well. The room was a bit outdated and pipes made a lot of noise at night. My wife and I were definitely not happy with surprise fees such as $20 to park each day and a $25 daily charge for "hotel service" that surprised us at check out. Traveling with young kids, I liked the suites on the ground floor, so I could open the doors and let my you kiddos burn off some energy by running directly out onto the lawn. The Sheraton Maui is a nice large resort with a beautiful beach but, it is over priced for everything. You pay $25.00 a day resort fee, $30.00 a day parking fee and $60.00 a day for 2 beach chairs with a cabana. There is a man playing the guitar and a hula girl at the beach bar until 8 pm and there is no other entertainment at the resort.
