Cons: $31 resort fee; overpriced restaurants (especially breakfast); whenever i went to the beach, they ran out of beach towels and did not bother to get me one. "We just got back from our trip,and wishing we could go back ! We had a great time at the sheraton maui. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful ,the resort is top notch in my book,clean and up to date,all of the amenities a person could ask for. They have a great location on black rock close to everything , short walk and you are at whalers village or take shuttle to Lahina. Great beach with plenty of room for everyone . I would recommend this place to anyone. Our trip was feb. 1-8-2013 middle of whale season ,which we saw within first minute of our stay, and were visited by turtles daily in the bay on the right side of the beach by Black Rock, great place to snorkel for all levels of experience ."

"Everything from the upgraded room to the pool and beach area were beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative comment I have is about the $30/day additional charge that is supposedly for parking and wi/fi. Every day, I tried using their wi/fi and only was able to connect with their wi/fi in our room - no place else on the grounds, incl all pool areas. We inquired about the additional $30 and was told (very politely) that it was in the 'fine print'. But they did give us a credit on our account out of the additional $350 added on to our already pricey bill, we got $6 back for internet!! But a gorgeous tropical location to stay for sure!"

"The location is great! Right on the beach at black rock. Great snorkeling right there. Pool was very nice but too cold. Everyone had the same issue. They didn't always open the bar by the pool. For some reason they removed floats from the pool at 4:00, even asking people to get off of them so they could take them out. Ate at one restaurant there, very good. The staff was very friendly. Very close to Lahaina."

"What a lovely vacation! The Maui Sheraton is wonderful. My Husband and I got the opportunity to stay there for a week and we agree that it was the best vacation ever! The room was great, very comfortable with awesome views of the ocean. It was whate season, and from our room we could see whale splashing!! Swam with the turtles right off Black Rock. Top notch beach and rated very highly.The staff was precious...the valet parking staff was the best! So cheerful and full of local information and coupons to restaurants in town.
You are so close to town, where you have any level of restaurant you want to enjoy! The highlight of our trip was going Whale Watching with the Ultimate Whale Watching crew out of Lahaina!! We went three times and saw lots of whales up close!! When we returned to the hotel we were always welcomed back and asked about our adventure! You can' wait to return and bring some friends!! Thank you Sheraton for the special treatment! Bravo!"

"Well the hotel is very nice and clean however the daily resort fee is crazy at 26 a day to have parking and Internet. The cost of the food was crazy my hubby ordered an omelet with hashbrowns and it was 35 dollars for it. I liked the location it was near most things. The pool area gets a bit crowded at the good spots and we went on an off season. I was surprised of how everything was additional like certain pool lounges and chairs. We vacation in Mexico a lot and everything is the same there. I liked the fridge and the coffee maker in the room. I was a bit dissapointed with the fact that we asked for a king room but was offered a double bed room. After I explained we were there for our anniversary they said it would be a bit but could only offer us a ground floor room ( I also had requested an upper level room) after traveling I said fine. It was offered a higher level king room at an additional 100 a night which I thought was tacky. While at the pool I heard at least another 4 couples say they were told the same thing. To be in an off season and vacant you would think they would have just upgraded us."

"My husband and I went for our 12th anniversary. Spent 8 nights. We arrived in early evening and I asked for any free upgrades and was able to get a room with the view of the ocean and black rock. The hotel was very clean and I am very picky about cleanliness. View from room was fab, the only complaint I have about the whole stay was our bed was sooo uncomfortable. Plenty of pillows in room so we actually tried to sleep on top of the pillows. I wasn't however going to let that ruin my stay. Whaler's village is great because you have places to get snacks or cheaper meals for a switch to save a little money. Also nice because shops are there. Short walk from hotel. Also had fab restaurants upscale where you could walk to them and get great meals, fish, seafood, steak. Luau at Sheraton was very nice. Food was great. Snorkel at Black Rock if you like to snorkel we didn't but saw 2 huge green seat turtles about 4 feet from us."

Went to Maui with two best friends for a birthday (all in our early 30s). The Sheraton had beautiful grounds, the room with a view of the ocean was incredible and roomy. The curved balconies are so pretty; the bars were pricey but fun and delicious. We went to Teppan-Yaki Dan in the Sheraton--it was small but very fun and the tricks the chef did were better than at Benihana.
The weather seems to always be perfect no matter the time of year on this part of the island.
Only thing that was a slight negative: it was hard to find our way to the main grounds from our room (eg: take the elevator to the 3rd floor, go across the breezeway, take the elevator to the 8th floor, walk to the other side of the building, take the elevator to level one--get off and walk across the grounds to the pool)."

"An amazing holiday location made possible through our travel sites great deals.
The Ocean Front room on level 4 Of building 3, provided a great view of the pool, beach, Black Rock and across the channel.
The chairs around the pool are free for guests to use but you are able to pay to use some locations that are reserved. Snorklning around the Black Rock is great and we saw Sea Turltes and Eagle Rays daily.
We had breakfast included in our package which provided us with an oustanding breakfast selection.
A shuttle service operates between sister hotels ion the Kaanapali strip.
We were able to get Wifi from our room to our iPads but do note that some other guests were not able to do so with their rooms up on the Rock. The Wifi hotspot is in the main lobby. There is an Ethernet cable available though so you might be able to take along your Airport Express.
We ate twice at the restaraunt, each time selecting the special menu that changes every night. We get 20% off as we are a Starwoods member.
We were enticed to look at the Timeshare presentation which was educational and were able to decline without out too much pressure. This provided a $100 voucher that we used to reduce the hotel bill and also received 50% off voucher that we can use on another Starwoods stay.
After 9 days we didn't want to leave.

"My feeling were mixed about Sheraton, Maui.
I didn't appreciate at all the check-in process. Within the first minute the receptionist was trying to upsale me to a larger room with a big smile and once I told them that I was not interesting in spending another $1000 plus he then seriously went to work only to tell me that we would need to waiting until 3pm for a room.
I had purchasde a oceanview escape room, only to be put on the ground floor and then after requesting another they put us on the third floor near the elevator. the bacony had no privacy at all. I would have expected to be given some choices rather than be at the mercy of the receptionist.
Overall, property is very nice and nice beach. pool is very nice and great snorkling on the beach. However, I was surprised by the $45 per day charge for a beach shade and lounge chair. I've stayed in nicer hotels where they were free to guest.
Food prices were on the high side for the quality. For example, $15 for a bowl of cold cereal.
Staff was ok and didn't go out of their way to please. It was very difficult to get someone's attention at the pool area for a drink.
Internet wifi throughout hotel is very poor. My ipad and iphone had constant issues keeping the connection. I had to use my ATT wireless data.
Please be aware there's a another $26/day resort fee

"Great location, beautiful grounds, nice room, pricy food and drinks (expected). Beach was a little crowded, but the best option on Kaanapali for playing in the surf and snorkeling near Black Rock. Pool was great for relaxing, but grab your lounge chairs early. Definitely recommend a rental car to increase your options for dining, supplies, and sight seeing. Some of the best adventures are right off the road, but I would think twice about driving the entire Road to Hana. Lahaina was super convenient for groceries (bring your loyalty card), snorkel rentals (much cheaper off beach), and restaurants. Strongly recommend sunset cruise (Trilogy) and Old Lahaina Luau. Overall great anniversary trip and Sheraton was an ideal place to call home base."

"The grounds were beautiful and the location was perfect, but the room cleaning was terrible. I don't think housekeeping cleaned the rooms thoroughly. My bathroom still smelled bad after the cleaning and none of the toiletries were restocked even though they were almost empty. Some parts of the room stunk of mildew/mold(?)... I expected better accommodation with name like this hotel chain. I will try another hotel next time when I return to Maui."

"The grounds are beautiful, but it is true that the resort is outrageously expensive; you will have to travel to get good tasting and well priced food. Whaler's Village is kinda of a lost cause since there is not much choices to eat there! However Frontstreet is a great place for great food and drinks at a great price. I found that things were hard to find at this resort but dont be afraid to ask...if not you may be missing out. They have happy hour at both their bars which is the best time to drink, but the food is a total waste---to expensive and not worth it at all. Overall we had a great time at this resort and the location is impeccable. "

"The hotel setup was crazy! Everything was a maze. We were in the building sitting up on the cliff. Very quiet, but it took 3 elevators and a maze to get down to the main level where the pool, beach and lobby were. Then once you were at ground level you had to figure out which sidewalk took you where. Very confusing. Also, I had sprained my ankle on the trip, the hotel was very helpful in providing a wheel chair for me to use, but getting around the maze in a wheel chair is less than ideal."

"We could have not asked for more when it came to our room view. We opted to get an ocean front room view, and it was well worth the extra money. If you have a choice, ask for building 6 when booking your reservations and you will not regret it as you sit on your patio watching the gorgeous sunset. The pool was rather crowded with little to no seating (or shade) when the hotel is booked solid. So, if you want that shaded area, get to the pool SUPER early!!!! The beach was great, but offered very little shade or seating. Snorkeling was great for the experience and the beginners. The food was a little expensive but well worth the money. Overall, the hotel is a great experience that you will not regret."

"Beautiful grounds and the pool is fabulous. It can be hard to get a seat around the pool. The snorkeling off of Black Rock was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed in building 2 and had a good view of the beach. They have a great luau. The Teppan Yaki Dan was delicious and a lot of fun. We did not eat breakfast at the buffet because the price was ridiculously high. It is a short walk to Whalers Village and they have several reasonable restaurants there."

"My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Maui for our honeymoon. When we arrived at the hotel, we were dropped off at the group entrance with no one to greet us. There was literally no one in sight...That is strange for a 4 star resort!
When we were checking in the receptionist tried to upscale me, that was quite rude. We booked a ocean front escape room...that was a disappointment!, it was nothing to speak of. The rooms were just regular with plain white linens...bathrooms needs a bit of an upgrade too.
We had to eat elsewhere because the restaurants were very pricey...the average cost of a meal is $35-40.
Also, there isn't much to do, other than hanging out At the beach or pool , there wasn't any entertainment.It was quite boring!
The resort fee is crazy, $26 a day! And I couldn't pick up Wifi most of the time.
And when i did get connected, I had problems keeping the connection.

"we had a great room and a great time. our room had a wonderful
view of Kaanapali beach. Also the room was very clean all the week we were there. We found the staff was always available and very helpful. The Luau was fantastic and the food at the hotel never disappointed us. It was our first time to Hawaii and now we are already planning our return. we were there for our 25th anniversary.
