We loved the condo we rented here. It was a 2 level, 2 bedroom condo, beautifully kept and decorated. Our only wish would have been for AC, we've stayed in Kauai before and didn't realize how much we'd miss a good cooling off at night. The concierge was awesome too. They quickly got us booked on two excursions, and helped us again when there was a date mix up on them (our fault). The beach there was great too, we spent a lot of time floating and playing in the surf. There is a restaurant on the ... Read more

We didn't like the Kiahuna Plantation that much. Yes it is a condo complex, and they had a cleaning charge that you wouldn't ordinarily have to pay. The cleaning charge is $140.00! We were forewarned about it, but it's still a shock to see them charge this. Isn't that just part of a business, cleaning a unit after someone leaves? The unit also didn't have ANY air conditioning, and it was hot. 85 degrees most days. We did like the restaurant though. They had very good food. The bedroom is sma... Read more

My wife and I stayed in building 8, unit 36 for 3 nights and it was great. The unit was fully equipped with everything we needed, was close to parking, and very close to the beach and the main grassy area that fronts the beach. The grounds are very well kept, and the property is quite large and very quiet. We appreciated that it was close to the two Poipu shopping centers where we were able to grab basic groceries, as well as dinner one of the nights, and coffee one of the mornings. The main rea... I am writing this review because of all of the negative reviews out there. My family stayed here in August, unit 189. This was an awesome location, great ocean views, fairly updated condo. We had no issues with any bugs, noise, cleanliness, or anything else! The beach is very nice, minimal waves so it was good for surf lessons and swimming. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again!

This was a nice condo for the price. I loved the seperate bedroom which helped with the little one and the views are incredible depending on the location of your room. The lanai was great too! The drawbacks were lack of an in-room washer/dryer, no a/c, and towel replacement only once a week. They do not clean daily/change linens unless you pay extra for an upgraded maid service. Not an issue if you don't mind sand everywhere and are frugal with your allotted towels and sheets. Also don't expect... Read more

We stayed in Bldg 7 #33. The new owners have it very nicely furnished and well-stocked with quality items. They also provide some beach "toys"--snorkel gear, boogie boards, foam noodles, and more--even an underwater camera. It's an upper level, end unit, just a short 2-minute walk from the BEST sandy beach! And it's nice being able to deal directly with the owners through KiahunaOwnerDirect.com.

Although we didn't have a beach view, the grounds are spectacular with plumeria and hibiscus all over. It's was very comfortable and had everything supplied in the kitchen if you choose to cook, but it's also very close to the Poipu shopping mall with several restaurants. The lanai is very peaceful, great place to have morning coffee and watch the roosters and hens scratching around in the gardens.

I was staying at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort for business - exploring various conservation projects on the island. It was a really comfortable place to stay and was self catering as well. Ut was a spacious unit with all amenities one requires. I had a slight view of the ocean which did add value to my stay as well. The rooms are not serviced, which was fine for me. The staff were incredibly helpful and the concierges VERY accommodating in assisting with excursion details. The only downsides ... Read more

We stayed at this resort because our travel agent suggested it. Once here we upgraded to an ocean front room/condo, specifically building 3 unit 10. The unit was well appointed, clean and close to the water. We were given great service from the cleaning crew, coffee packs and clean towels every day regardless of our being willing to reuse towels - have yet to find a hotel that follows the "replace if on the floor" rule. Room was quiet until the upstairs was filled but still not bad. Washer/dryer... Read more

We stayed for one day in a one bedroom condo in building 31. It was lovely and very comfortable. It was a nice walk to the beach and the location was very central to all the activities in Poipu. We really enjoyed our stay.

My wife was running the Kauai 1/2 Marathon this year and we were looking for a place in Poipu to spend evening before race day. What a find the Kiahuna Planation Resort turned out to be... Fabulous grounds, comfortable accommodations, and incredible staff. I would recommend this property for a couple or families as it is a great ocean front property with fantastic restaurant on site and is so close to all great beaches, shopping, and other restaurants.

We were recommended here by friends and were very pleased with the choice we made. The resort is perfectly located for nearby shops and restaurants, and for access to the beach. The grounds are beautifully presented and manicured. The pool facility is across the road, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. If anything it was likely more quiet there than it would have been had it been on property. The condo was spacious, clean and comfortable. The often-raised lack of air-conditioning was a concern for us... Read more

After reading some bad reviews we had really low expectations for Kiahuna. But we were pleasantly surprised! Our apartment was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The huge lanai, TV with DVD player, kitchen and living room were great. A huge bonus in addition that the closet were filled with greatly needed beach equipment: snorkel gear, bodyboard, umbrellas, etc. The closeness to a beautiful beach and the so well held garden made us really relax from day one. This was our 4th stay at Kiahuna Plantation in Poipu since 2008. Not many condo resorts are on sandy beachfronts, so we never look elsewhere when we're visiting Kauai. This time, we opted for ocean view instead of oceanfront, and we were in unit 27 in building 6 with an excellent view of the water. The condo itself is updated, spacious and attractive, with a well-equipped kitchen. We enjoy swimming pools but visit the islands for ocean experiences, particularly snorkeling, so we never made our w... Read more

Stayed here from 9/11 to 9/18. Checking in was easy but finding the room was a little difficult. We had paid almost $400 extra for ocean view and If I could go back I wouldn't have wasted my money. We were on the ground floor in room 75 and was only able to see a glimpse of the ocean. Definitely not worth the extra money. Would rather have just paid for garden view. Nice little shopping center across the street. The only place there that we ate at and liked was Avenue cafe for breakfast. We ate... Read more

Love the Kiahuna. No place like it in the world. Stayed I building 39. Yes it's at the back of property but my second floor garden unit overlooked the beautiful cactus garden with a snippet of ocean. Used fans to cover road noise at night. Nothing comes close for the money and most Hawaiian resort I have stayed in.

This was our 5th time staying at the Kiahuna. It is still a great place to stay. I book each time through VRBO so I can choose the unit. The grounds are well cared for. BBQs are newer ones and are cleaned each day. The beach is good for playing in the waves. Beach towels are available in exchange for a card given on the first day. You can exchange the towels out for new ones allowing them to be taken to other beaches. This is a new policy since our last stay 3 years ago. Loved it. This stay we w... Read more

The property is set right on Poipu beach which is beautiful, the view is something to see for sure. Unfortunately if you were looking for a romantic vacation spot this is not it. There is no AC so to make up for that they put slats on all the windows that open and close. No actual windows just wood shutters basically, so even with them closed a passerby can hear your conversation let alone any attempts of being intimate. Probably a better spot for families rather than couples. Kitchen is stocked... Read more

We booked our unit through the owner and was pleasantly surprised. The property is huge but very well maintained. We were in the bldg. behind the Plantation Gardens restaurant and it was still only a 5 min walk to the beach. There are 2 management companies - Outrigger and Castle Resorts - and I couldn't tell the difference between the two although ours was Castle. I must admit I did book through Tripadvisor (a mistake?) the least expensive room I could find. I then called the property direct and asked about room location. I did say I wanted a quiet room. I was told by staff that they do not assign rooms until arrival. Unfortunately I took this at face value. My fault. Staff was friendly but not helpful. They could have told me that my "category" is all on the main road. If you do not like noise from cars and restaurants across the street (with bad karaoke... Read more

We stayed at the Kiahuna Plantation resort during Jersey break week. The resort is not bad, but not great either. We got unit 438, which is right next to the busy Poipu road. We heard road noises all night, but we were too tired to wake up most of the nights. Being from the East coast, we rose early. They use leaf blowers at 5AM and the sprinklers go off at 5:30AM, so it was a perfect wake up call for us. That may not work for everybody. We stayed at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort during early September. Our unit was not extravagant, but very clean and quite nice. The grounds are beautiful and it was a short walk to the beach. Our bed was very comfortable, but the sofa sleeper wasn't the greatest (sorry, kids!). We did hear karaoke one night, but it wasn't too terribly loud. We would definitely come back to stay here on our next visit to Kauai. Our garden condo was on the second floor and was clean and quiet. Since swimming pool location wasn't important to us (the pool was across the street and closes at 7 pm), we visited the beach on the property. So the week has been a bit challenging with rain and high winds. Not the best Thanksgiving for sure. That said, the thing that has saved us is the place we are staying in. The room was clean and peaceful, however our place required about 4 fans to be brought in to keep it at tolerable warm/humid level instead of damp humid as it was when we walked into the place. It's definitely a necessity to utilize windows and doors however you are supposed to shut them when not in the room.
