After alot of research my family and I decided to stay at Sugar Beach Resort. The location is a good central locale for touring the entire island. Kihei is very windy. Check in was easy for after hours arrival. Free parking and WiFi was nice. There is a little sandwich shop on the property as well as a few other shops. We stayed in unit 203. This unit has been updated . The bed was extremely comfortable. The pull out sofa bed is fine for a small child. The unit was very clean. The view was gor... Read more

As a frequent traveler to Maui and always staying at the same condo complex, we decided to change this time and try Sugar Beach. For us this was a great place and very convenient. The condo itself was great, and we truly likes am having a small store and excision bookers right in site. The location has a small Restaurant / Bar which we did not try. Although the pools is simple in design it serves it's purpose. From the location you can get into Kihei quickly and are a short drive int... Read more

Presently spending 8 days at the Sugar Beach Resort here in Maui... My words will fail to justifiably describe the beauty surrounding this little slice of paradise. This is my fourth time in Maui, and every time has been better than the last. Sugar Beach is: beautiful. Fun. Relaxing. and quiet! One of the greatest benefits of being here is the location. SBR is located far away from the more populous areas of Kihei. Therefore, less people traffic. However, the people you encounter here in Ma... Read more

This is our second time staying at the Sugar Beach Resort. It is a older property, but well kept. It is a centrally located resort without the constant action or noise of Lahaina or other resort areas. The beach is great for swimming or walking, but it can get a bit windy. The views of the ocean are fantastic from many units. The pool and hot tub are well maintained. Do your homework as each unit is individually owned and some are more updated than others. Overall a good quiet place to stay.

Had a wonderful time. Condo 605 was a great place to stay, very clean and up to date. The owner was very nice, we asked for a late check out and she was very understanding and extended our check out to late in the afternoon. Would definitely stay here again. The pool was very nice and the ocean just a few steps away. The grounds are clean and very beautifully groomed. Can't say enough good things about this place.

After a few of my friends recommended Sugar Beach Resort I decided to book it. I am so glad I did. We arrived late on a Wednesday night, so when we arrived at the hotel we had to use the phone outside the office for instructions. The gentleman was very kind and helpful. When we arrived at our condo (#433) the room was clean and inviting. We made a quick trip to the store to pick up some food (short drive to Safeway) for the week and came back and went to bed. The bed was very comfortable. My hus... Read more

Very quite and family friendly condominium. We booked oceanfront room and got the perfect view sunset view from the room balcony. This property is right on the beach which makes it very easy for the beach access. Rooms are equipped with kitchen which makes it perfect if traveling with small kid. This property is equipped with pool and people working in the store are very friendly.

Visited for one week - Sugar Beach 427. Excellent views, king bed, comfortable mattress- nice pool and beach side sitting. Quite with good facilities for eating, trip planning and snorkel gear on the premise. Great swimming location to swim and walk by/in the ocean.

Unit 424! The decor is a little outdated, but it's tropical and that's what you want when you're in Maui! The pictures online were exactly what we found when we got in the unit. The view was perfect. There are no palm trees obstructing your view from this unit. Oceanfront was the way to go. We watched the Canoe Club every morning go out and come back from their practicing. The stars in the sky at night are breathtaking! I was very surprised not to find any food items in the unit, includi... Read more

We loved everything about our condo at Sugar Beach Resort, it was absolutely the perfect setting for a week in Maui. I booked through a 3rd party, (I didn't realize I could book through the resort), it all worked out well. We were in 118 and had a very comfortable king size bed and although I didn't cook much, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The condo supplied beach towels, beach chairs, an umbrella, and a boogie board (that we didn't use), which made for the perfect set... Read more

Our room was great. My sister and I shared the condo. We were right on the beach and our view of the ocean was wonderful. We loved the pool. We also liked the fact that there was lap swimming scheduled from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. They also had water aerobics scheduled. At first, I was nervous about swimming in the ocean in front of our condo because of murky water and seemingly strong waves because of the wind; but once I got in, it was no big deal! It was wonderful swimming there in the ocean! The... Read more

ALOHA, If you're looking for a place to stay that has NO AC, NO ELECTRICITY, almost non-existent water pressure, virtually no front-desk service, and useless wi-fi - then you're at the right place. Let me elaborate: (1) We booked our stay at this resort for 16 nights but stayed there 11 nights only. On our second night, there was a power outage in the entire resort, from about 3 am to 6 pm. Once the power got back on, our AC stopped working. We were sleeping FOUR NIGHTS without AC and no ceili... Read more

This is tough, because I don't want to give away a good secret and make it tougher for me to find vacancy to return. THIS PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!! It is not the upscale luxury resort one normally thinks of when planning a Hawaii vacation. This whole complex was clean, well manicured, in excellent condition, very quiet and peaceful, and was out of the hustle and bustle of the more popular areas. We stayed on the 4th floor with a full on, unobstructed ocean view, private lanai, and a n... Read more

I've stayed here before. Each unit is different, and I prefer the plantation building. On an ocean front unit the sea is literally steps outside your door. The pool area is nice too. It's an older place, but really comfortable.

We were about to book through Expedia.com because they offered a better deal for our oceanfront condo. First, we called the resort before booking to make sure we could still choose a specific condo if we booked through Expedia (we wanted #618).She told us that we could still choose our condo, we just had to call and request it after we complete our booking on Expedia. We booked our condo and emailed the resort to request #618. They responded saying we could only request a room 3 days prior to ou... Read more

Nice, well maintained resort with elevator access to all six floors. Units are one bedroom, bath, full kitchen, air conditioned and lanai. Beautiful hot tub and pool. BBQ's down by the pool for all units and a putting green. Several shops, a place that will book trips and luaus for you and a sandwich shop. Lots of parking and best of all, very convenient to Lahaina, Kahilui and Kihei. Only drawback is that there's lots of wind pushing across the back of the buildings, but fronts open right on a ... The apartment had fantastic views, absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately accommodation offered no other benefit. Room was so dirty we had to call in cleaners soon after arrival (they responded really quickly which was a relief). Best way of describing the place is a retirement village. Almost depressing. Staff were like robots, looked like they said the same dialogue a thousand times, and not friendly. Couldn't wait to escape and explore the wonderful areas of Maui each day.

This is a Condominium rental resort. Our unit on the second floor was comfortable, with a very nice view right on the water. After checking in we didn't see much of the Staff, other than landscaping crew, but then we didn't spend much time at the resort. The suite was large, airy, central A/C (nice plus), a nice kitchenette, and ocean front balcony. The entry door was coded, which was a nice feature (not having to dig for keys). Our only real complaint were the interior doors, which are all sli... Read more

We picked this resort because it is 15 minutes from the airport, and it was absolutely great! Not only did we save time the first and last day but when we flew to the Big Island for a tour. We watched as lines of traffic headed in and out of the Lahaina stretch of road and smiled because we didn't have the traffic jams they experienced. It is only a few minutes into town for anything you could want. The little cafe onsite was a little expensive but so convenient and the staff so friendly. ... Read more

We loved Sugar Beach Resort. It had a kitchen, laundry, dining area, patio overlooking the beach and living room. Perfect. It was centrally located and just 20 min to Lahaina or the volcano or the start of the road to Hana. Convenient to shopping and restaurants Beautiful beach that we walked on most mornings, although we went to other beaches for snorkeling. Not for people who like the whole hotel experience

The kitchen so well stocked, there were things I don't even have in my kitchen! Great beach towels, and mats! The view will take your breath away every time you walk in the room, wall to wall windows! You'll find yourself having trouble getting off the comfy chaise onthe lanai! The Sugar Beach location is absolutely perfect for people who want to be close to things, but not in the centre of them. It is close to a couple of key highways and directly on the beach. There were always chaise lounges available around the pool and the ocean is right there too! Our condo was in Mill Building, 4th floor, and it was a wonderful location. The condo itself could use an update for sure. We had everything we could want, as far as kitchen, bathroom and laundry, but the couch, ch... Read more

We stayed at Sugar Beach Resort for 8 nights in October. We LOVED it. It was a perfect place for us to call home base and explore all parts of the island. Everything you need is within close proximity. We didn't mind the drive to Lahaina, Ka'anapli, or Wailea as it just gave us more time to be awe struck by the scenery. The grounds are well kept and the pool is super nice! I can't speak on the cleanliness or level of service by the resort staff because we booked our condo through Ali'i Resorts ... Read more

Normally this resort is very quiet and not so populated like other Maui vacation spots. However, there were a lot of young families in the month of November. I wish the parents would make sure their children wore diapers and visited the bathroom frequently as there were "accidents" in the Sugar Beach Resort pool in the past two weeks. There is a need for management to monitor the pool and hot tub area to ensure that guests follow the rules. This is a great weakness on the resort's part. We loved... Read more

My husband and I have been coming to Sugar Beach Resort for about 6 years and have always had a good time overall and really enjoy Maui. However, this year we have just arrived and a continual problem we have noticed in past years has become much worse. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and wanted to have a quick dip in the pool to cool off after our flight. Just as we were about to use the pool, staff came to close the pool because a child had defecated in it. A large group of people with many... Read more

This resort goes down as one of the worst condos I've ever stayed at. He biggest issue kid that while you may book with a management company, no one really is overseeing or managing this property. You risk getting a horrible room, like we did, and no one takes responsibility. The front desk does nothing. They have zero to do with anything, even extra trash bags or toilet paper. Our room was filthy and the management company , Maui home and condo did NOTHING !!! Basically you are on your own. Now ... Read more

I agree 100% with the other comments about out of control kids & their parents. We were there at the same time only for 5 weeks. We have been going to Sugar Beach Resort for the past 10 yrs. this experience was the worst ever. I disagree that the management can't do anything about it. Everyone signs the same form with the rules you need to abide. So why do we have to sign the form if nothing is enforced! Tom needs to ENFORCE the rules,,but he doesn't see anything & doesn't like to do anything ei... Read more
