We spent 14 days in a one bedroom forth floor ocean view condo, it was perfect. When we walked through the front door after our trip from Montana we were greeted with an amazing Hawaiian Sunset. The condo has everything you need for your visit and very clean. The property is beautiful with a really nice heated pool, hot tub and BBQ area to visit and meet your neighbors from all over. The beach is fantastic and sits on several miles of wildlife sanctuary beach with lots of turtle activity perfec... Read more

Sugar Beach Resort is in a great central location in Kihei, but you definitely still need a car. Nice walkable beach. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is an ideal resort. The views from a ocean front room are great, but the common area/pools need updating.

We booked late at Christmas time and took a couple of rooms here because of lack f choice. We normally stay in very high end places and we were a little somber when we saw the place. After a couple of days we were really glad we'd picked this place and are planning to come back. Kehei is much more relaxed than other places on Maui and the beaches are quieter. The resort could use a little updating but it's still a great place and would suit people who are coming for longer stays. Get an oce... Read more

You have to be minimum 80 years old to enjoy this place. You absolutely need a car to go for super at night. The beach is not worth swimming in it unless you want to drown plus lots of rocks just like Wakiki beach. You get fool by all the publicity of how beautiful Hawaii is...first the sand is the same kind has what we have in lakes...not that white color of the pictures. Ok some scenery are nice and pittoresque but not it is raining so often. December is a month of rain . First and last time... Read more

When we booked the Sugar Beach Resort back in October, we had requested an ocean view unit. However, when we arrived in December, we found the unit to be on the second floor and with a garden view with a peek-a-boo ocean view in the distance. Since we arrived at the resort very late in the evening, the office was closed so we could not tell them about our dilemma. The next morning, we went to the rental office to explain our situation - that when we booked a unit with an ocean view, we expect... Read more

I agree 100% with the other comments about out of control kids & their parents. We were there at the same time only for 5 weeks. We have been going to Sugar Beach Resort for the past 10 yrs. this experience was the worst ever. I disagree that the management can't do anything about it. Everyone signs the same form with the rules you need to abide. So why do we have to sign the form if nothing is enforced! Tom needs to ENFORCE the rules,,but he doesn't see anything & doesn't like to do anything ei... Read more

This resort goes down as one of the worst condos I've ever stayed at. He biggest issue kid that while you may book with a management company, no one really is overseeing or managing this property. You risk getting a horrible room, like we did, and no one takes responsibility. The front desk does nothing. They have zero to do with anything, even extra trash bags or toilet paper. Our room was filthy and the management company , Maui home and condo did NOTHING !!! Basically you are on your own. Now ... Read more

My husband and I have been coming to Sugar Beach Resort for about 6 years and have always had a good time overall and really enjoy Maui. However, this year we have just arrived and a continual problem we have noticed in past years has become much worse. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and wanted to have a quick dip in the pool to cool off after our flight. Just as we were about to use the pool, staff came to close the pool because a child had defecated in it. A large group of people with many... Read more

Normally this resort is very quiet and not so populated like other Maui vacation spots. However, there were a lot of young families in the month of November. I wish the parents would make sure their children wore diapers and visited the bathroom frequently as there were "accidents" in the Sugar Beach Resort pool in the past two weeks. There is a need for management to monitor the pool and hot tub area to ensure that guests follow the rules. This is a great weakness on the resort's part. We loved... Read more
