"if I enjoyed the old fashion 50's style of the hotel, I thought the bathrooms could have been cleaner. Despite the staff being really nice, I think it is a grossly overpriced hotel"

"The staff were all so friendly and accomodating, and the grounds were lovely and peaceful, with many species of birds chirping in the many different palm trees. We were enthralled with the place. Check-in went very smoothly and we arrived at the room. We knew it was an older resort with quite a bit of historical value, so didn't expect 5* accomodation, but the bathroom left a LOT to be desired. There was thick visible layer of dust on the curtains above the sink, although the fittings themselves were clean. The room itself was comfortable, and clean but the carpet looked like it needed a good deep-clean not just a quick vacuum.
We tried the pool once; it was so cold we never went back to it, and it looked like it needed a fresh lining.
However, the staff more than made up for the less than stellar cleanliness rating. Everybody was freiendly and helpful and very intersted in all their guests.
I'd recommend this hotel to certain friends."

"We arrived to a wonderful, friendly face and were so thankful they were able to have a room ready early for us. It is an older hotel but the grounds are nice and the swimming pool was great. Every employee we encountered was very nice. The room was on the bottom floor in the corner of the back building and that was fine because we were only there for one night and we were lucky to check in early. The room was fine and seemed clean until we turned on the light in the bathroom. There was hair all over the bath tub area, both long and short and black. My boyfriend had had a shower but he is blond. I just thought 'You know what it is difficult to get hair out' and just gave them the benefit of the doubt but then realised later that there was a film of residue on the toilet seat from what I'm assuming is days of sunscreen bulid up. This was thoroughly disgusting! The soap dish we didn't use had a film on it and it was blatantly obvious they just made it look like they had actually cleaned the bathroom. I would have said something, but it was later in the evening and we were only there for one night. We were leaving Maui the next day and I didn't want to ruin my last night by complaining and having to move. I just used some soap and cleaned the toilet seat myself. The fridge was also moldy smelling which wasn't noticed right away as we just threw our food in so we could enjoy the rest of the day. We had to throw everything away the next morning because it tasted like the terrible smell. I usually have a lot of patience but this was just awful. I really suggest you inspect your room if you stay here."
