Pono Kai is a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The unit (we are with Vacation Internationale) we had was relaxing, everything worked as it should and was convenient for sight seeing. The lanai overlooked the grounds and pool and most of the buildings except for a couple had this view - a couple have the ocean view. Access to the beach / Kapaa bike path was easy. The only thing that wasn't easy was the highway (there's only one up the coast) since many times of the day it's packed...but n... Read more

This resort is a delightful place to stay and enjoy the wonderful sites of Kauai. The resort was well equipped with wonderful grounds and activities. The concierge services was very knowledgeable and catered to our every desire. They arranged tours with Sunshine Helicopters, Capt. Andy's snorkel BBQ sail, and a Kalamaku Luau, but best of all was a guided tour with Kauai North Shore Limousine & Tours that was very informative about the culture, history, and famous sites of east and north Kauai (B... We stayed in a ocean front condo(rented thru VRBO). The resort grounds are very nice, a large of grassy area, with volleyball and practice putting green, pool and hot tub. Every building has its own Gas BBQ. We liked staying in this area of Kauai (Kapa'a), easy to travel north or south to sight see. The south part of Kauai, is very crowed a lot of resorts and people, not our thing. This is not a real upscale resort, but good a value.

Had a timeshare exchange for a week. Checked in a little early and they had no problem since the place was ready. Super nice front desk and everyone I met on this property had the aloha spirit. Pool is small but nice and was completely empty when I used it. They even have lift chairs for the pool which was impressive. Grounds meticulously kept. Had an ocean view on the second floor. Great room with full kitchen, air, fans, large bathroom. As others noted the sounds from above are rather loud ( I... Read more

We go here every year and love the place. The units are large and while dated they do keep them up well. This year they started to remodel and they had a model unit open. They are going to be nice! It will take a few years for them to finish the 150 units and some units will be out of service for a while so book early. We already have our reservation for next February. Remember some units are owned by one owner and those will not be the same as the Pono Kai association units. Some are better a... Read more

I used timeshare points to stay here (about 3 years worth!) but it was worth it. Kapa'a is the perfect location for a stay in Kawai as it's almost equidistant to adventure north or south on the island. The grounds were beautiful and included a pool and fun lawn games. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations for what to do. The rooms were totally suitable and I didn't feel like they were dated.

Centrally located on Kauai in Kapa'a it is convenient for excursions to the north and south shore. Had a 2 bedroom overlooking the ocean to the east. Clean, full kitchen with a balcony. Generally quiet and within walking distance of downtown Kapa'a with all the shops and restaurants. As timeshare/rental they are set up with concierge service (Cyrus)set us up with great activities for our stay. They also had a welcome party for incoming guest where we won a 2-for-1 Paddle board lesson. Looked at... Read more

Spent 4 nights at the resort and we were very pleased with resort and the friendly staff. The only complaint was half the family was in one building with an ocean view and the other half had a view of the pool. However it is my understanding that it was not the resorts fault for not putting us in the same building, even when we booked 7 months in advance. It was our timeshare company that was in charge of the room arrangements. The resort was very clean and well kept. The pool and hot tub... Read more

Room e102.....owned by Pono Kai resort which in years past has been a clean pleasant experience in other rooms/condos. Although the staff are very friendly, the room we chose this time was a bit on the smelly side. Very musty. Close to the boardwalk and the beach. Because its so close to the small town, restaurants, and beach, id give it a 4 out of 5. The room being a bit worn out, i cannot give it a 5.

I loved this resort as our little home away from home during our stay in Kapa'a. We had a nice suite with kitchen, a grand open counter looking into the dining room, living room area. And I especially loved the view from our balcony. Friendly staff, good recreation on site. I would definitely stay here again. Only downside is that when leaving the main parking area, you cannot turn left, so we had to make this little loop around everyday we wanted to head out to the south. Oh well.

We booked via a timeshare exchange for a 1 week stay. We requested ocean view and got it. I remember we left some cookies in a container out during the first day and ants got to it. We got rid of the cookies and the ants were gone. Overall, this place met our expectations. We booked a couple of months in advance and feel that it was budget friendly and centrally located on Kauai. We would consider staying here again.

We spent a week at the Pono Kai. It's not a luxury resort, but it is very nice and clean and the staff is terrific. You can't beat the location in Kapaa, centrally located to the north and south shores. Our unit was recently renovated with a nice, modern bathroom. This is an older property with comfortable accommodations but not in the luxury category. This time I would like to point out the little things that make this place attractive.
