We loved our stay at the hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The view is breathtaking! We started each day at the restaurant with an amazing view of the ocean. It was so relaxing and laid back. The food was very good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere with the ocean view and live music nightly. The location of the hotel is perfect and centrally located making the north and south coasts of the island very accessible. The rooms were n... Read more

My wife and I stayed this hotel for 5 days(5/4/16 ~5/9/16) and I didn't realize it was located right in front of beautiful beach considering the price i paid for it. Also enjoyed sunrise from sea walking alongside beach and gardens because we woke up early every morning due to the 3 hour time difference from San Francisco where we came. Rooms were comfortable and quite. Its location was suitable in order to look around the whole island because it is located almost middle of the whole island. we... Read more

I recently returned from a week‚??s vacation in Kauai, Hawaii. I stayed at Kauai Shores Hotel during my visit and found the hotel to be very charming. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Also, there was an Expedia desk in the lobby and the representative helped us plan our tours/shopping, etc. The rooms are nice, clean and ours had a great view of the ocean. We had breakfast every morning at the Lava Lava restaurant, which is attached to the hotel, watching the waves come in. It... Read more

If you really love Hawaii, by that I mean a retro 60's hotel with a nice makeover a nice bar, good food ..and all of it on the beach then you should come here. If you need a place that has "Beach Activities" a "Spa", a " Dolphin Pool" and a hotel room that looks like it could be in Chicago. then don't. What this place is selling is the Sun, the Sea and the Beach

I chose this hotel for a week-long trip with my mom, the first time in Kauai for me, and the first to any part of Hawaii for her. I'd been looking for a comfortable home base that wouldn't kill my budget, and Kauai Shores more than delivered. Our second floor room was large, comfortable and quiet, and the beach access was close and convenient. For overall look and feel, the hotel is retro in the very best way -- a '60s feel but with all the updates you'd want to make it fresh and new.

Stayed here only one night before checking into a time share the next day. Front desk people, valet parking guy all very nice. Room was air conditioned and very comfortable. Would definitely stay for a longer time period in the future. Great room for the price and perfect location for me.

My first thought is that this place is trying to be something that it's not, but I really like what it is. You can tell it is an older property, but the recent rehab is so very nice and pleasant. It is obvious that someone invested a lot of money in improving the property. The rooms are nice and beds are comfortable. The bathrooms albeit small, are nicely appointed and clean. You can tell they left some of the older fixtures like the toilet, but replaced things like the shower head which ... Read more

This hotel may have been remodeled, but it is still an old building that has major security issues. The sliding doors don't really slide and they have installed lock bars rather than replacing the doors. The detail of cleaning was really lacking; upon check in: shelf in front of bathroom sink was dirty, vent on exterior door was filthy, bathroom fan vent was filthy, smudges on dresser were actually sticky and gooey, and the base of the beds were covered with sprayed soda. The beds were comf... Read more

The driveway width restricts traffic to and from the hotel. We had to wait for five minutes until the outgoing traffic cleared the driveway so we could enter. REALLY! Once in the motor court we are welcomed by very friendly valets under a beautiful Porte Cochere. The lobby space was open and well decorated in traditional island d√©cor. The staff was wonderful and I just can‚??t say enough about that. However, that is where the positive ends for this hotel. Only a few rooms actually have o... Read more

Stayed 3 days in June 2016. Rooms all redone with balconies (very nicely done), refrigerator, HD Flat screen TV with mega channels. Hotel was a great value for the price. The location is great to go exploring either North or South and is still close to airport and stores. There are also good restaurants close to the property and an ABC Store 100 yards away. Get a pool side rooms as there are some that face parking with no view. We had room 238 and it is one of the best (corner, close to stairs a... Read more

This newly redone hotel has everything in one place and right on the beach. Close enough to walk to most anything you could ever want. Light and bright colors make it a fun place to stay without having to leave the property and enjoy outstanding food and music everyday. The staff are very pleasant and give the hotel a family feel. With many choices this hotel is the most unique property on the island and the reasonable rates make you want to stay again and again.

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a car so there was free parking. The rooms are very comfortable and modern after renovating and have all the amenities. The bathroom vanity is very small but we managed with hanging our toiletry bags. Maybe some extra hanging or shelving would help. The rooms are air-conditioned and have a fan. Each room has a balcony and chairs and table. The grounds are well maintained. We had a meal and drinks at Lava. We found it to be expensive compared to other places. It i... Read more

Stayed here the first night in Kauai. Clean rooms but nothing fancy. Room was $140. On the beach in Kapaa. Bar and restaurant on the beach. Had breakfast right next to ocean. Everything reasonably priced. Would book there again. Nothing really stands out but liked it just the same. Did not even look for amenities.

This was our second time staying at Kauai Shores and again excellent! With the opening of the Lava Lava Beach Club bar and grill that faces right on their own beach this hotel is perfect for people looking for a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere on well established grounds with flowers everywhere, sprawling grass and palm trees located just a mile south of Kapaa where shopping and good food is abundant!! Highly recommend it to all!

The only thing I don't like is if someone makes ne pay for a service I didn't use! No one told about 75$ "Servicefee" as I made my reservation, no on as I booked it! But as I checkend in the cashed my creditcard! For what? The Pool or the towels i don't used?!? For what extra service?? I am angry about that! Not In Honolulu not in Hilo in no other Aqua hotel I payed "extra"!!!

First place we stayed in Hawaii - intent was to stay here a couple of days to adjust to time, do a helicopter tour, and some kayaking before heading to the north shore. Perfect location for our purposes. Nice property with restaurant (Lava) right on the small beach. So nice view and food. Reasonably priced. Nice to have air conditioning (which we later found out was not all the common in the places we stayed in Hawaii). Clean, comfortable room. Did not use the pool, but they do have a sm... Read more

First time in Kauai. We didn't pay for 5 star so weren't expecting it. Our room was average size with a tv, small balcony and a king bed, plus a very small bathroom. The aircon was extremely noisy. The breakfast at lava lava was not bad but not great. Dinner at lava lava was not too bad. We didn't use the pools. The laundry was useful however with only a few - we had to wait a few times. The parking lot is quite large so plenty places to park. Next door is an ABC store which is handy. My only re... Read more
