Really enjoyed our trip. Beds were comfortable but mattresses a little worn as they were concaved in the middle, nice large bathroom, appreciated small kitchenette and drawers in the bed frame. Beautiful property, glad to be on the beach but would have appreciated a maintained beach (lots of debris - wood, etc. so we just went to public beaches). Reasonable rates considering close proximity to ocean but Kauai is a little more reasonably priced in some areas. Overall a good experience if not look... Read more

Loved the Islander! We stayed in 211. Perfect place for a nice relaxing vacation. The grounds were beautiful. We stayed in the main building where the lobby is on the second floor. Had a great view of the ocean even though it was in the back. We hung out at the pool every morning and most of the time were the only ones there. It got busier in the later afternoon when people would start using the BBQ's. All the staff were very nice and helpful. There are lounge chairs out by the beach bu... Read more

This is our 3rd time to stay at the Aston Islander on the beach. We have been more than pleased each time. Beds comfortable. They provided a handicapped unit for hubby with bad knees. The view is lovely. Can see ocean out the back sliding glass door. We have access to pool, hot tub, beach, BBQ grills. The room is stocked with kitchen supplies, snorkel sets, refrigerator, microwave. Tiled floors throughout. Walk in shower gets water on the bathroom floor. Grounds are clean, manicured landscape ... Our unit was in the perfect location -- beachfront and close to the pool. We had an incredible view. The price was very affordable and the location is perfect for visiting all the attractions on the islands. Free parking was a great perk as well. Would definitely stay here again!

This was our 3rd stay at the Islander, and we will continue to visit this resort on future stays. Let me start with check-in: We had booked an oceanview room, like we usually do, and we're completely surprised when we were upgraded to a beautiful oceanfront room! Best. Check-in. Ever! The view from our room was amazing, as were the sounds of the waves against the rocks. As for the room itself: it was clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom roomy with plenty of hot water, and a nice, cold mini... Read more

Staying at Aston on the beach is like living in a garden. The grounds are very well taken care of. The rooms are clean and bright. They have coffee makers in each room and coffee in the lobby. There is a trip planner in the lobby area.

Every time I visit Kauai I stay at Islander on the Beach. Conveniently located On the edge of Kapaa, HI. I have stayed here many times around Christmas and been treated like Hawaiian royalty every time. The grounds are impeccably maintained with security on premises and it is quiet with no blaring lights. First off there are three types of rooms... Garden, Ocean View, and Ocean Front. I always get the Ocean Front because I like the sound of the waves lulling me to sleep. The units are privatel... Read more

Loved the hotel. We stayed there 2 years ago just my husband and I. This year we stayed there again but this time with the kids. They loved it. The rooms were clean, the girls upfront were very cordial. Loved that you are just steps from a beautiful beach. I sat on the porch every morning to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful flowers and trees around me. Kudos to the gardener or team of gardeners that keep up the landscaping. Everywhere you look,it's just beautiful. Will stay t... Read more

I have stayed at IOB many times. It is a relaxing place with good views, a beautiful beach (although not generally swimmable), very friendly staff, great location for exploring, and many of the owner owned condos have been recently updated so it has a fresh look inside. Get up early and watch the sunrise. Go next door for a good breakfast at Lava Lava Beach Club. Relax. Great place for that.

This is my second visit to IOB and once again had an awesome time. Beautiful hotel and beach (not advisable for swimming but still beautiful). The room was great and very comfortable for three. The staff (especially Casie) is always helpful and pleasant. The included mini fridge and microwave as well as dishes make it even better for buying food and making it in the room. The location of the hotel (east side) makes is great because you are between the North Shore (Hanalei and Princevi... Read more

We stayed one night at the Aston Islander before heading home from vacation. The hotel is within 15 minutes from the airport and sits on the beach by the Coconut Marketplace. We were a little hesitant as the hotel is on the lower end of the resort spectrum, but were pleasantly surprised. The location is excellent. We were able to sit in lounge chairs on the beach and sip complimentary mango limonade from the bar. The facility is older but has been beautifully renovated and has a very Hawaiia... Read more

We had a great time at this hotel. The location was awesome and there weren't any bugs! So, it was perfect ;) The pool was small. The beach could not really be safely swam in, but if you've got a car you can go where you need to for a good swim. The surrounding areas were accessible and super easy to get to by car. It was a great hotel for the 2 of us. If I went with my kids I would need a bigger room, but it was perfect for our needs. Free wifi, although it didn't work for our last 3 days and... Read more

Service was not very good. Both at check-in and check-out the person was not very attentive, doing other things. The location of our room was far away from the ocean and pool, behind 3 other buildings. Our view was of a tree. The water was rough the first couple of days so we couldn't swim in the ocean by the hotel until our last day, that was really nice, wish we could have swam in the ocean everyday. Security let guests at the pool play the stereo loudly, until the songs had swear words then t... Read more

We have spent 5 days at this wonderful resort right on the beach. From our room, it was a 2 minute walk to the beach and pool. From our balcony we could see past the building in front of us so we had semi sea view. The room was big enough and clean. There was nothing that we missed. There is plenty of parking space so no problem with your rental. We are absolutely in love with the Hawaiian island but Kauai was our favorite, and this resort definitely helped! The hotel is located on the east coast (directly on a beach) with many shopping opportunities (groceries, pharmacy, restaurants, etc...) close by. It is also a good starting point to discover the rest of this great island (rental car recommended)! The rooms are big, comfy and clean (including fridge, small coffee maker and mikrowave) and the staff is very helpfull and friendly. Overall a wonderful place to stay and rest!

We stayed here in June 2016. Loved the place, well situated on the island if you have a car as most destinations are within an hour (kind of the HUB of Kauai). Decent pool and nice beach. There are also some nice restaurants nearby. Staff were nice. Rooms were a decent size. Good AC. When we were there, the hot tub was inexplicably shut down/out of order for ten solid days which IMO isn't reasonable. But whatever overall it was great.

It was my first time visiting the state of Hawaii. The Island of Kauai is simply amazing. You must give it a try. My wife and I lost 2 full days from our 1 week vacation, thanks to TSA airport "security" and American Airlines for closing the gate just as we arrived, because TSA made us late. All of that madness aside, Here's the Hawaiian part of our adventure. This is an older resort that has been nicely upgraded. Just steps from the beach, pool and bar. The only complaint is that there is not enough parking. Spaces should be numbered so that guests have spaces available close to their room. If you are handicapped, be sure to request a downstairs room. There are no elevators to the rooms.

I have stayed at the Islander 4 times now, and it never disappoints. The rooms are kept very clean with ALL bedding being changed between guests, not just the sheets. Most rooms have at least a partial view of the ocean. There is a DVD machine (like redbox) that is included with your resort fee, and you can also check out beach towels daily so you don't need to bring your own. Beware though that you need to book an Aston room NOT a private room for these amenities.

This resort is in a great location, with easy access to restaurants, activities, and necessities. It's only ten minutes from the airport, and a happy middle ground to travel to any other area of the island for the day. Some staff were friendlier and more helpful than others. This resort is in best location on Kauai. There's a small beach area with chairs and pool. The water was too rough for me but still nice to end the day sitting by the water. The location of resort was perfect for going north or south. I didn't feel that I was spending most of my day in car, unlike the other islands. The grounds were immaculate and very 'Hawaiian'. I also did not understand why we could not use the on premises laundry. But it is a pleasant place to stay in a great, central location. A 24 hour Safeway is close by.
