Stayed for four nights in a partial ocean view room which had a few over carpark with a small view of the bay. We had been warned before we left home however that partial ocean may mean only a glimpse so not too surprised. Beds were super comfortable. Room was a good size, was always clean and tidy and shower was good. I loved this place apart from the fact that the pool and poolside bar closed very early and we were unable to use it once we had been out exploring all day. This is a wasted o... Read more

Wow, what a wonderful hotel, was our first time in Hawaii and after a week in Honolulu, Kona was a wonderful change. The hotel was brilliantly kept, the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has a great pool and lounge facilities. No better place to sit and watch the sunset of an afternoon. The shuttle service is a little poor, basically get stuck wherever you get dropped for a long time before another comes back. The hotel is quite secluded so there isn't much for food beside... The Sheraton has an amazing pool & grounds to dream for. The checking in was a hassle giving us the wrong room, but once the friendly male manager got involved it was sorted giving us a $100 voucher. Keep in mind it is the furthest hotel away from city Centre. Over all the hotel was gorgeous & clean.

The check in process was quick and easy. I was a starwoods preferred member and had stayed here previously. The lady at check in was very helpful gave us maps to the area and away we went. Parking at the hotel is free once you check in just get a card from reception and pop it on your car. We had a side mountain view room with a balcony. Our room was very spacious large comfortable king bed standard amenities and a decent bathroom. During our stay we often used the pools & spa which closes at 1... Read more

I must admit that I had very low expectations for this property. I stayed there for two nights while in town on business, at the client's request. Overall, I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. Yes, the property is very dated. But it's a good value, the people are very friendly, the pool looked awesome for kids, etc. I would definitely stay there again if I needed to be on that part of the island.

This place is located on the South end of Kona but close to a small shopping center with a grocery store. Our initial experience was not positive: We were told we would be called when the room was ready but that did not happen. We had some confusion finding the room due to poor directions from the front desk and because the map they provide is backwards, meaning that it shows the layout from the perspective of within the grounds, not from the parking lot. What's more is that there are no name... Read more

I hate resort fees but the Sheraton Kona actually earnt theirs from the moment we stepped through the door of this huge resort. I was here for my 50th birthday and we really felt welcome. Valet was terrific, more helpful than usual (particularly Tommy), check in with Vicki was a breeze, she was really interested in us, helpful and welcoming, even upgrading our room. Bags showed up in our room in less than 5 minutes and all other staff I encountered were excellent. This along with thorough ho... Read more

Pros: Nice and convenient location Plenty parking space. Shuttle service The staff are extremely friendly. Cons: Very small lounge and few options. They just started to offer lounge access. It's a learning curve. I asked 2 staff at the poolside restaurant how to get to the lounge. One didn't know. The other told me 2nd floor. Actually it should be the 4th floor. My room was not very good. As a gold member i don't know if I was upgraded or not.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for the first part of honeymoon and we really enjoyed our stay! The hotel itself is very beautiful, as well as the two pools on the property. Rays on the Bay, their premiere restaurant is very good, and the view is stunning! Their breakfast buffet is decent, slightly overpriced. It is a little ways away from the heart of Kona, but who cares. You need a car if you're staying in the big island anyway. So it's convenient either way. Also another tip,... Read more

This is an absolutely elegant property. It is right next to the ocean, and it offers beautiful views. It is a little way from the city center. However the Kona Trolley runs back & forth from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or so, making all the stops in-between the hotel and town. The hotel has several restaurants to satisfy your appetite, and the food is very good. There is a large indoor pool, which includes a hot tub. It is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The fitness room is open 24 hours. The hotel is very clea... Read more

This resort is huge with several buildings. Some are located near the action: front desk, pools, restaurants, etc. Other buildings are not so close and require a significant hike. Those close to the main area are color coded: Helani Wing 1 Gold; Ahiahi Wing 2 Red; Ehukai Wing 3 Blue; Kualono Wing 4 Green. There is a major difference in terminology when asking for an oceanview (can just be a peek of the ocean beyond a golf course or other obstruction) and oceanfront (the room directly faces the... We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The location is ideal, just on the bay and with close proximity to the airport. The rooms are very spacious and most of them enjoy sea-views. The hotel has a nice big lobby, offering wonderful sea-views of the bay. The resort has great facilities, such as outdoor pool, restaurants/bars, gift shops, public areas, and also a program of activities, however we did not manage to try these due to our little time available. Checked-in yesterday afternoon, we are staying in Sheraton Kona as relaxing part of our honeymoon trip to Hawaii, after few days in Honolulu and Hilo. Despite being on honeymoon, we are given a room facing the car park area... Entering the room what we can see is a stain on the carpet and a cigarette butt on the balcony. The hotel is clean but in desperate need of renovating and modernizing. The air-conditioning in the room is very noisy. The pool area needs a lot more shade options. We were taken back by the expectations to tip when breakfast is included and pre paid. Hire of swimming and snorkeling equipment is very expensive. Should be included for hotel guests.

Many room view choices: ocean and pool, inner pool, garden/mountain. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Just a note the Sheraton is actually a little bit outside Kona town, however please review the actual hotels available in Kona town as soon as it is night Kona town seems a bit dodgy. This hotel has beautiful, open common areas and creates a great first impression. Unfortunately the rooms are in dire need of updating and were quite disappointing. What a nice hotel. With 4 wings, it's a large property. Dining: There are a few food options ranging from casual (the Keahou Bay Coffee Restaurant was very casual and had an excellent Ahi Burger) to classier (Rays on the Bay looked very nice - we got a drink at the bar there, and watched the manta rays from the patio). This is one of those Sheratons that feels like it's going to be dropped after the merger. It is evident that little money has been put into the resort lately. The paint is a little peely, the carpet a little worn and some areas are hanging on. That said, it is a cool location and the restaurant has a nice view.

We've stayed here many times over the years and it seems to have gone downhill. Valet was great. Check in was ok. We asked for a quiet room and here we are by housekeeping/service and the ice machine and it's not quiet. The partial ocean view isn't bad once you look over the parking lot. The room is a bit tired. I find it so interesting to try to gauge ratings based on other people's unknown taste and expectations or standards. Based on the positive reviews, we booked a week here after staying at Westin Villas in Maui. Big disappointment, by comparison but that's like going from 5 star to a 3 star. The resort itself is ok. This hotel was pretty average. Entrance to rooms were located outside more like a motel. Rooms were a little outdated. Pools, and restaurant were nice. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. It is not located on the beach so you only have to pool to use. I assumed this hotel would be more luxury because it was in Hawaii so I guess that was the main disappointment.
