If you're going to come here, spend the extra money and stay in the ocean side rooms. Sleeping with the screens open and listening to the ocean at night was so relaxing and all I could as for from my Hawaii trip. Close to shops and beaches. Our room was right by the "Banyans"- a local surf spot. Watching these talented locals surf in the morning while drinking a coffee or even in the evening was amazing. Only thing was I went to the pool once and wasn't too impressed. And go visit the poke shac... Read more

I love this hotel. Having a condo with all the amenities makes traveling so much easier. We had an ocean view room, mom loved sitting on the lanai watching the surfers in the morning with breakfast. The condo was nicely furnished and even included some beach equipment such as snorkel masks, buckets etc. The hotel has a lovely pool and Jacuzzi which I took full advantage of. There is even an "Adult only" hour from 9pm - 10pm so that we can relax in a kid free zone. I cannot say enough about ... Read more

Our recent stay at the hotel was very plesant. It is located conveniently with clean well furnished rooms, convenient parking, pools and mostly great views. Since it is located right on Ali'i drive; so is easy to find even if you arrive late at night. There are several buildings on either side of the road; so finding your room might take some effort; although the helpful front desk staff would certainly give you directions. Most rooms irrespective of ocean or mountain side, has a private lanai.... Read more

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we chose this location because our friends were also staying here. We booked our condo on trip advisor and it was more amazing then we hoped for. We checked in and the girl downstairs was very friendly and inviting. She gave us all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. We stayed in condo 207 and to our surprise it was awesome. Yes it was older and yes there was local bugs and a few minor issues such as a broken blender but that was nothing compared to... Read more

Complex is older but very clean and well maintained. There is a pool and whirlpool which are open late which is nice and also not busy so it is relaxing to sit by and to use. Pool is heated...a bonus. The complex is a short distance from secret beach which is an awesome place to see turtles and enjoy the ocean without the pummeling waves. Would definitely stay at complex again but in a different unit, by different owner.

If you are a fan of intense ocean front locations, this is the place. Great direct ocean front condos with outstanding views of the Banyan surf spot, great BBQ area, nice staff, and in my case a condo that was very well equipped with everything a visitor needs for a great vacation week.

We had a condo on the forth floor. Very well thought of and we found everything we needed for our holidays. Nice ocean view! Amazing to wake up to the sound of waves and see the ocean and surfers and then breakfast on the balcony. The complex has outdoors swimming pool and jacuzzi near reception area and it is full of kids every evening.

We stay at Kona Bali Kai frequently using both the Castle hotel rooms and private rentals through VRBO and smaller management companies. We always stay in the oceanfront rooms as they are the reason to visit this property. Built in the late 60's when the mandatory setback from the water's edge was only 25 feet, the views and ocean sounds from the spacious lanais are truly spectacular. A reliable surf break provides views of local surfers on the southern end of the oceanfront building which is ... Read more

Our oceanfront lanai, was only 20 feet from the ocean. Sea turtles abound, and we enjoyed watching the spear fisherman enter the ocean from the lava rocks. Great location, quiet at night, and the courtyard pool was inviting. Our condo had everything we needed, kitchen stocked well for cooking. Only wish the ocean front condos had air conditioning. Thank goodness for the ocean breeze. Had a lovely time.

Stayed here 2 nights. We were put in the studio apartments across the road from the main building. These have no lifts so beware with luggage. The rooms are spacious with kitchenette and wifi. No AC however. Location is along Ali'i drive but is a bit down from the main strip of shops. All in all, a reasonable option. A word of note, the listed price in Expedia does not include a mandatory "cleaning fee" (the booking confirmation did mention it) so do keep in mind this extra cost above what ... Read more

This place is about 10 mins south of the main part of town, right on the beach. They have a large main building along the shore and another one across the road. While we were in this second one, the ocean view from the balcony was great as is the location in general. The beach directly in front of the hotel is for surfers (though there are some nice tidepools), but there is a nice beach for swimming (Magic Sands) about 1 mile S and for snorkeling about 2.5 m south. The place is a vacation c... Read more

We stayed 7 days in unit 319. It was nicely updated with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It has a large kitchen. I also liked the 2 sliding doors leading to patio that overlooks the ocean. Nice cool breezes and the sound of the ocean all night! The location is nice and quiet. We loved the beach and tide pools right out front. Everyday my daughter went out and looked at sea turtles, fish, crabs and other tide pool creatures even cowries. So cool. The location is ideal as it is close to a lot ... Read more

Booked this pretty last minute, mainly due to deciding to get an early flight out. I thought the price was too good to be true... And it was! $50 "Cleaning fee". For a one night stay. Payable on check-in. Isn't cleaning a pretty standard requirement for a hotel, not an optional extra! Even worse, the monosyballic receptionist didn't actually tell me what I was signing for, it even that she was devoting my card! Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

We stayed in #314 which had an ocean view. It was well appointed and had everything we needed. The bed was superb - so comfortable. We loved sitting on the lanai watching turtles in the rock pools. The complex is a bit out of the hustle and bustle of Kona - we enjoyed that. da Poke Shack downstairs had the best Poke on the island.

Stayed here two weeks. Second floor condo directly on the water. Watch surfers, sea turtles, Dolphins from your lanai. Spacious 2 bed, 2 bath. Huge lanai. Pool is a little dated, but spent most of our water time at beach. The rental agent for this condo (205) is Holly. Very responsive and attentive. Great home base for exploring the Big Island.

This is the third time we have stayed and Kona Bali Kai. It is south of the hustle bustle part of Kailua Kona, but right on Alii Drive. Small beach, great view of boats, parasailing, surfers and turtles. Love the convenience of a kitchen and laundry. The Lanai is great.

This Condo while beachside has many units across the street from the beach a few miles outside of Kona on Ali Drive. It had one small air conditioner that was adequate for the living room, but didn't offer cooling in the bed room. The bed room cooled off at about 9pm to the point where you could sleep with shutters open to allow air in. You should also beware that if you book on an on-line booking service that you will incur about a $25/day "cleaning" cost that is unexpected and seems unfair.... Read more

We booked a last minute trip here for our family of 20. We had 5 rooms booked through our travel agent who said everything was included in the price we paid through Expedia. We arrived 3 hours before check in, we were waiting in the lobby to see if we could leave our luggage somewhere so we could get some food, the front clerk was helping another guest so we waited. Before the clerk was done with her guest, she yelled very upset that check in wasn't until 3 and no we couldn't check in early. We ... Read more

We recently stayed in a 3rd floor oceanfront condo at Bali Kai. This condo was absolutely perfect. The kitchen was nicely upgraded with cherry soft close cabinets and drawers and granite countertops. The sliders worked great which is a rarity in oceanfront condos (from my past stays at other condos). We had free wifi and a washer and dryer which was a plus. We rented through VRBO and there were no hidden fees. Now that we've gotten to know and trust the owner, we will go directly through him in... Read more

Needs updating. Bedrooms and living area have ceiling fans which are to small for the size rooms. Bathrooms are fine. Beds are not good. Dirty carpet in bedrooms. Check-in was quick and easy. Got to the room and there were no towels. Patio furniture is rusty, we refused to use it.

Great location not too far from town but far enough away to be away from the hustle and bustle and traffic. Fantastic ocean views and breezes from the lanai. Have seen turtles and dolphins and whales from the lanai. Well decorated and comfortable condos. Have stayed at two different condos at this complex and both were great. No problems with parking at all.
