"What a great experience! Perfect location away from the insanity of Waikiki yet you can gaze upon it from the lanai or spend ten minutes to stroll into it. Obvious from staff performance the great management in place from the hotel to the restaurant and all other services. We had an ocean view room and enjoyed the 180 degree view of ocean, Waikiki and the inland parks below us. Would recommend to anybody. Restaurant was a bit pricey but the cuisine was first class. Fortunately our package included breakfast every morning which helped on the expenses."

"I recently stayed at this hotel and booked the Diamond Head view. Upon arrival I requested for an upgraded and got ocean front superior. The upgrade was well worth the extra $$. On our last day there, we had requested if we may use a hospitality room because of the red eye flight. We checked out and came back around 9PM to get fresh for our flight. They put us in the Annex room and it was a whole 360 from the Superior Room.

The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms facing the ocean were great and clean and the hotels location was perfect for a quiet and relaxing time."

"We stayed in the wing off the main hotel. I would say the only problem was getting your luggage up 3 flights of stairs (no elevator) but they did offer to carry the luggage for us. Our cookies from the 'welcome bag' were discovered and swarmed with ants in our room. Other than those two items, it was a great room. It was very large with a bedroom, living room, dining area, microwave, sink, frig, dressing area and bathroom. Pretty view (partial ocean and park), great beach right outside of door, easy walk to downtown, Hau Tree Restaurant was very good but very expensive and the staff will accommodate you even without reservations."

"The staff were really friendly and nice, the private beach was quite busy and it was about a 15 minute walk to Waikiki and the main beach and restaurants. Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant as it was always very busy. The room was clean and the balcony was lovely to sit on. Was a little disappointed with the size of the room and hotel services given the price we paid. Also you had to pay for the fitness facilities which we decided not to do given the price we had already had to pay for the room, would have expected gym to be free."

"This was a very bad honeymoon experience for us. I travel a lot all over the world and this is by far one of the worst hotels I have been to. Room was very small and bet up. Carpet was ripped and they have half open slide door in bathroom that you can be seen from your room. When we got there I wanted to make the best out of it so I told them I want to upgrade no matter how much it cost because we were staying 2 weeks and they told us they don't have any better rooms that they are all taken and of course pictures from that room were professionally done by photo shop so everything looked amazing from pictures then we booked it. Hotel has only one bar and two restaurants that you have to make reservations. They charge their customers $5 dollars for cup of coffee where you can get it anywhere in the downtown fancy restaurants for $3. Food was ok but super expensive compare to other beautiful restaurants down town. My recommendation is pay little more and stays at fancier place because you will not be happy with this hotel. Don't make same mistake I did."

"The Otani was the perfect choice for me because it was off the strip, on the beach but still close to everything and very economical for Honolulu.. Semi private beach next to the park & walking distance to waikiki, Honolulu Aquarium & Zoo. The rooms are what you'd expect for the price, not super luxury, but I wasn't looking to stay in the room! It's clean, the bed and sheets are clean and comfortable and the staff is super nice. Only ate at the main restaurant once - and it was ok. Cocktails were very tasty and the staff will give you tips on the local scene if that's what you want. Everything is expensive in Honolulu and Hotel food is not my favorite, so it's worth it to do some research and get 'da Kine'! Up the road ~ 1/4 mi. is Rainbow drive in which is a cheap local Hawaiian style take out place which was by far the best for getting the flavor of the locals: bbq pork, mac salad and rice was super tasty and loads of food."

"The water and weather is excellent if you like the sun and we do. Hotel room was a little small but how much time do you really spend in it anyways. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

The outside patio restaurant served fantastic dinners and breakfasts. Dinners were a little pricey. Service was excellent.

Beach was great. No sea weed. Water was warm and people were swimming evening, day and morning.

We'd return."

"The hotel was excellent for the money. Nice staff and the casual restaurant was very good. We stayed in a Ocean View Superior and was very small. Smaller then any hotel room I've stayed in but we only slept in it so it worked out. The 'free' high-speed internet was a joke. It kicked me off multiple times and couldn't find 3/4 of the websites I was looking for. I do everything online so that was a disappointment."

"The hotel has a fantastic location right on Waikiki Beach. Tip: If you feel like saving some money and not paying $24/day valet parking at the hotel, across the street there are meters that are free before 10am and after 6pm. Or there is parallel parking on the same side of the street as the hotel. There is no breakfast included which is a good and bad thing. Good because it forces you to explore many great breakfast spots, though most require driving to get to. The hotel rooms are very outdated in style and the standard room is fairly small, 2 twin size beds or 1 queen set ups. You have a balcony. My mother did spot a cockroach one time in the bathroom on one of the first couple days we were there."

"This has to be the best hotel in Honolulu for location. It's about a 10 minute walk through parklands or along the beach from Waikiki Beach, or there is a bus stop nearby. I enjoyed an Ocean Front Deluxe room on Floor 7 which was absolute sea-front, with views both towards Waikiki and over the ocean itself. Absolute relaxation lying in bed or on the lay-about on the lanai listening to the waves, and watching the clouds roll overhead. During the day (especially at weekends) there's a bit of noise from kids enjoying themselves, but at night and very early in the morning, the atmosphere was just magical - just the lapping of the waves. I felt sorry for all those people braving the hustle and bustle of 'downtown Waikiki'.

The hotel's casual restaurant/breakfast room ('the Hau Tree') is just that - tables set out in the open air, underneath the branches of 3 enormous Hau trees - beautiful! I only tried breakfast there, but the food was very good, with quite a good choice. (Menu for dinner had too much fish and not much else.) Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Only down-side was that the 3 coffee-makers I tried didn't work properly."
