Nice hotel located on the end of Waikiki. very friendly staff. Walking distance to a few chain restaurants, and just a little further to some of the beach front dining available at the larger hotels. Parking is valet only ($25 per night) and they close at 10am. I missed the tiny driveway my first time around. Rooms are smallish, but comfortable and clean. This was perfect for a solo business trip (me) , or a couple looking to be away from the beach front action. Balcony is nice with a small ta... Read more

Had a nice stay at the Equus. I actually took them up on their Polo match tickets on Sunday! A must do. Super fun gathering with tons of locals. The hotel was also a nice place to stay and had deals on tourist attraction. The location was pretty good if you want to be close to the mall.

My Ohana and I recently stayed at Equus for the weekend as we came to O'ahu for a wedding. When we checked in on Friday, we were greeted by the lovely Rene. Check in was quick and easy and we couldn't wait to get to our room. Seriously THE BEST BED EVER! With the AC on full blast and the cool and extremely comfortable down comforter, we had such a hard time leaving the room! When we did leave, the guys downstairs were really friendly an were prompt in getting our car. When we left early Saturday... Read more

We booked the hotel through a United Vacation Package, and it was a terrible mistake. We will NEVER stay in this hotel again. Their service is very slow, even check-in took almost thirty minutes because the guy managing the front desk went off to attend to someone's bags (and this was around 11 pm at night when we were already supremely exhausted), and at first we thought it was just the pace of the island lifestyle. But then, during our week long stay, our room was not cleaned for three days-... Read more

I had to review this hotel again after staying there last month. Our company has a corporate contract with the Equus, and I'm normally a grouchy traveler when it comes to Hawai'i because our office is over by the airport, and with no nice hotels out there, I have to stay in Waiks which means tourist, traffic, tourists, and of course no parking. While the hotel charges for valet, they seemed to have fixed some of the kinks from my previous visit and I never had to wait more than a few minutes f... Read more

Air conditioning was not working properly in our room. Maintenance man could not fix the air conditioner to make it get cooler. We had to change rooms and lost our king bed but the unit in the room was working properly. Another lady said her room was not very cool. When we checked out the next day the lady at the front desk said we were the second complaint about the room in which we were originally booked. Overall room was ok and good location and staff very helpful.

We stayed at the Equus on a trip to the Philippines. The location was good and parking while available, expensive per night. There was no elevator from street to lobby; there is an elevator to room floors. We found the staff efficient if not overly helpful. Rooms are comfortable and while you can hear street traffic, i expect you can hear this from all the hotels on Ala Moana Blvd due to the traffic. Hotel is abit long in the tooth, but again comfortable beds. I wish they served breakfast o... Read more

When I lived in Italy, I sought out properties like this one, over bigger, flashier hotels. The Equus is simple and elegant with the slightly European feel that all truly-kama'aina establishments offer.

My wife and I only had the chance to stay at the Equus for one night, but it was a great night! Staff is friendly and very attentive...my wife and I were traveling with a significant amount of baggage but were offered prompt help in moving everything around. Rooms are clean, cool, and well appointed to make for a comfortable stay after your day out and about. Management is hands on and extremely friendly...you are treated like 'ohana' (family). Location is perfect and this boutique hotel offers ... Read more

I was staying in Marina Towers Waikiki and they closed the only remaining elevator until the 180 kph winds subsided. The other elevator had never worked. My room was on the 38th floor. Mariah, the General Manager at The Equus, took me in free of charge and I spent the remainder of my Honolulu stay there in safety. She gave me a pass to buy dinner and made me very welcome. The hotel was clean, had everything you needed and was a godsend. Thank you Mariah. Big hug coming your way.

What a gem to find in the amoung the towering corporate owned hotels in Honolulu. Our room was a little suite complete with a wine cooler, mini frig and sink. NO stove but who cares when there are great locally owned restaurants like the Aloha Kitchen and Goofy's within walking distance. The kitchen and bathroom were newly renovated but the charm about our room was it was filled with antique, hand carved polynisain furniture. General manager, Mariah Dailey, Assu and her staff were wonderful ... Read more

Excellent location, friendly staff, great entertainment options, and a happy hour make the Equus a winner! Short walk to Waikiki beach, plenty of restaurants within short walking distance, the Ala Moana shopping mall is right around the corner, and the Ala Moana Promenade is great for a walk or morning jog.

I cant forget to mention very friendly staff, especially the guy at the front desk, his name was Ramon and he was very helpful and was able to solve all our inquries! Thanks again and Im definitely coming back!

The Equus is nice hotel in a great location and offers some of the best value for your dollar in Honolulu. Rooms are big and clean with large flatscreen TVs. The bed was very comfortable. Furniture is in good condition. The fridge even has a freezer. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. Waikiki is a short 10-15 minute walk away, and Ala Moana Center about 5 minutes. I use the bus to get around the island, so being only a short walk away from the main bus terminal was ver... Travelling with a friend and having just graduated we didnt have alot of money. The Equus was great it was right opposite the big name hotels (The Hilton, The Modern, The Ilikai), which meant you got the experience of staying expensive but without the cost. The rooms were perfect - the staff went out of their way to attend to our requests for two beds and were immacuately cleaned every day. Ala Moana mall (the big shopping precinct) was a 5 minute walk down the road and in the opposite directio... Read more

There are a couple of cliches to consider here..... "You should never judge a book by its cover" and "You get what you pay for". This hotel is trying hard to be a "boutique" hotel but all it really is is a re-vamped block of old flats. When they did the makeover the developers should have spent some extra money on a couple of things they completely overlooked or couldn't stretch the money far enough. 1) One thing they overlooked was the large aluminium framed glass sliding doors on the balcon... But Rene was so fresh and helpful and amazing. She was so pleasant and had a room ready early and also recommended the most amazing breakfast spot that we went to right away. She ha... Read more

Every time I have the opportunity to come to Honolulu, I always stay at the Equus Hotel. The staff at the Equus, from the front desk to housekeeping are absolutely phenomenal. Their willingness to serve and to make your stay an enjoyable one is beyond words. Additionally, Ms. Rene Kahumoku always remembers me by name and greets me with such a warm welcome. We liked our short stay at Equus. We only stayed one night there but the desk men were so lovely and helpful. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. And spacious too. So close to shopping and beach!! Not to mention food and restaurants. Great value for money. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Equus again.

The Equus Hotel had a friendly desk staff, valet, and concierge. Rooms are small, bathroom is small, and the balcony overlooked the busy street. The hotel is small and settled in between condos. However, it is within walking distance to the beach (you do have to cross a busy street), there are a few restaurants close by, and trolley and bus stops are close by. I would recommend downloading the Uber app to call for rides if you do not have a car, which is almost half the price of what a taxi will... Read more

The hotel was in a great location as it was very close to the beach. It was within walking distance to a bunch of little shops and also to the ABC Corner store, which luckily sells a lot of useful little items like toiletries. The hotel seemed a bit dated, but it got the job done. I only use it for sleeping and nothing else. The room and bed were clean and we were provided fresh towels. The hotel staff was very friendly. For the price, this was a perfect hotel, but if you look at the star rating on certain sites, it's not a 3 star. More like a 21/2. We were only there for 2 nights. They only have valet parking, so it gets expensive to tip on top of $25- parking fee. The rooms are okay, they don't exactly match the pictures or we got a room that wasn't sunny like the picture. Yoshi and the other front desk person was very friendly and helpful. The internet was down for most of the duration of our stay, so ... Read more

We booked this hotel for the two nights we were in Honolulu (specifically for our Pearl Harbor tour) and chose it for the price. The reviews had me a little nervous, so we went not expecting anything all that nice. The room was basic. Full beds, not huge, nothing awful, and nothing to write home about. And it was loud, but it's in a city, there's traffic noise and I'm not sure how any hotel in that area wouldn't be loud - and we certainly slept fine, so it wasn't THAT loud. But the bathroom...
