We only stayed two nights but wish we had longer. We had previously stayed at outrigger on the beach, but actually liked the reef better. This is because the pool is larger and nicer, liked the pool bar. We did experience the Kareoke in the shorebird it was fun. All staff were great, we got the deal from Hotwire so we're not expecting a great room, but it was really nice and large. Lots of bars and resturants just meters away, we liked the Yard House. Would definitely return.

The Outrigger Hotel is located in the heart of Waikiki overlooking the gorgeous beach. The best aspect of this hotel is definitely the location. We didn't stay here as we were staying elsewhere but we visited many times to dine at the restaurants & also to use the beach. The restaurants are fabulous especially Dukes for a casual lunch & also Hula Grill for dinner. Staff were always friendly & efficient. I loved this hotel. It was in a perfect location for walking to restaurants and shopping. We were there for only two nights but could have stayed longer. The check-in process was a breeze and I felt welcomed the moment we arrived. The room was beautiful with more than just a partial view of the ocean. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Our group arrived well prior to check in time & the hotel was more than happy to accommodate us with a room to change our clothes and kept hold of our luggage until check in time. The reception staff were excellent and very friendly, the rooms were a good size and very clean. I never had to ask for anything for our room - it was all stocked well promptly every day. My only criticism, which is minor, is that the service whilst sitting at tables around the bar/pool area was a little slow. I wo... Read more

This hotel turned out to be the perfect setting for our 20 year anniversary celebration. As part of the accommodation package the hotel offers a wedding vow renewal service. The location was ideal - right on the beach at Waikiki - and the organisation was superb. The service needs to be booked in advance.

Overall the hotel is good. Check in took pretty long time, but that wasn't hotel's fault. A tour group were front of us, check in one by one, took a bit longer....of course the hotel is great, I have no complain about it. The reason I give 4star instead 5. It's the sound insulation has a bit problem. I can hear people walk around up than my room also kids ran around in hallway. So if you are a light sleeper, that will bother you. Otherwise all good.

This review is actually for two trips to the Outrigger Reef (Jan and Dec 2015) We will be back again in December. The first trip we had a partial ocean view on a high floor in the Pacific Tower and the second time we had a Diamond Head Ocean View. Stayed here for 3 days prior to cruise. We were offered an upgrade to ocean front and concierge level upon check in for $70 more and we took it. Yes it was ocean front but the balcony was sooo small we never went out on it. However, we did take advantage of the free breakfast and cocktails offered. Nicely laid out with a large quiet deck ocean front and great place to start the day if you do not prefer the sand. The room was small but clean. The entire hotel staff were friendly and helpful... We and our extended family (three families) stayed here a night before heading to our North Shore rental. This is a family friendly hotel with great beach access and a nice pool and happy hour. They run several on-line deals (upgrades, free drinks, etc), so check those our before booking. (Note the resort fee--not a whole lot of extra activities offered, they just need to call it a wi-fi fee.) Rooms were all very clean and views were beautiful. I have stayed in multiple properties on Waikiki Beach, but keep gravitating back to the Outrigger Reef. Why? 1) Although on paper it doesn't occupy the choicest stretch of beach, in reality, it does: the stretch in front of the Reef is much quieter than the main beach and - huge bonus - this is where the honu (Hawaiian sea turtles) hang out! That said, the honu are here because it's a reef - if you want a nice, sandy bottom, walk down the beach a ways to where they've imported a lot of sand. O... Read more

I like everything about this hotel except its location. I would prefer a hotel closer to the main part of Waikiki Beach. This hotel has balcony rooms. The hotel has three hot tubs and a large saltwater pool. The hotel is on the ocean but there are a lot of rocks on the beach. This hotel features cultural lessons and a free trolley that goes to Diamondhead. I would suggest the shuttle to run more often and run later until 10 or 11 PM. At least to the Duke Statue. No complaints about our 3 night stay at the Outrigger Reef. Staff Friendly, Room clean and as described. Food decent (Great steak on offer at the Shorebird). Wonderful hotel right on Waikiki beach. The staff were friendly and we were in a room on the side which had partial ocean views. The room was spacious and had a small balcony. As the name implies, the hotel is located near the reef, so it hurts your feet if you want to go into the ocean in front of the hotel so I recommend walking up towards the other outrigger where Dukes is (only 5 mins and a beautiful walk along the water). Being used to Fully Inclusive hotels meant I would always be moaning about something with a self catering hotel stay but to be honest we got used to the way of things before long. This hotel is average in my opinion but Waikiki made up for it so all in all it was a good holiday. We had a room beachfront on the 9th floor. There is an express elevator direct to the lobby. Maid service was impeccable. Check in was a breeze. A hospitality room is offered for those of us with a flight out long after our check out time. We had time for a quick shower and fresh up before leaving for the airport. During our stay we were treated like royalty and will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was very well kept and had a beautiful design and layout. It is pretty much right in the heart of downtown Waikiki. The pool is about 9 feet deep, the hottub is hot, and the drinks flow at the bar. There are plenty of places to grab food near the hotel as well. The beach is below average, as you have to pay to rent the chairs right out front of the hotel. Overall, a great experience!

It was my first time in Hawaii, my husband has been there many times, but never in this hotel. We wanted an ocean view room, but they did not have it, so, we had a partial ocean view room, the room was very spacious, comfortable, clean, and the best thing that we had a nice balcony, in front the live music bar. We stayed here very happy for 6 nights! All the staff were friendly and smilie. This hotel was very clean, service was impeccable and great location. It was amazing experience!!!

We checked into the Outrigger Reef on November 17 for 4 nights. The property is in excellent physical condition, with smiling staff faces and warm Aloha feelings throughout. Room condition was excellent. Fast elevators, terrific valet parking staff, great spot at the entrance of Waikiki Beach. Prices were very fair for the type of accommodation received. We have stayed in Waikiki hotels for years, and find the smaller size of the Reef to be a definite benefit. When compared to the other cold-fee... Read more

We stayed for 7 nights at the Outrigger Reef, prior to boarding the Celebrity Solstice to cruise back to Sydney. This hotel is lovely. On check-in we were offered fresh juice and cool towels by the Reception staff. We arrived early morning after a night flight from Sydney. We had booked three rooms in the Hotel but only one was ready to check-in to straight away. No biggy, just something to know for next time. Our room was quite large and very comfortable. A big bathroom with a bath and shower... Read more

Hotel - rooms and public areas - are very clean and nicely decorated. Staff are extremely pleasant, capable and helpful. Shorebird restaurant offers a good breakfast for a good price and if you are early (or late) you can sit right by the beach. Many restaurants and excellent shopping a few minutes walk away. Negatives include: ocean view room is more of an ocean glimpse (a real view requires an ocean front room and an even larger price tag); beach in front of hotel is quite narrow with a lot of... We stayed on the 9th floor ocean front. What a magnificent view! The 9th and 10th floors had a separate lift which was very easy and quick for us to access. On arrival the cool towel and juice was a refreshing welcome after being on a plane for 10 hours. The process was very quick, our room wasn't ready but we could store our bags while we went and explored waiting for our room to be ready. The check in staff member told us he would contact housekeeping to prioritise our room. It wasn't lon... Read more
