We had the only two bedroom, two bath unit in the building. While it was extremely spacious, it needs significant updating, a good cleaning, and kitchen supplies. Most of the furniture was tired and old, with some unappealing stains of dubious origin. The microwave was full of crumbs (not ours) and the master bathroom was not well cleaned before our arrival. The unit has a stunningly large lanai, which unfortunately was littered with beer bottle caps and cigarette butts, again, not ours. It... Read more

The rooms were nice, the view was upgraded to partial ocean, the service was impeccable and the price was comparatively low. My wife slipped on the tile floor and was given immediate care by the manager who offered to call paramedics and filed a report of the accident (thankfully nothing serious). This place is well worth it!

Well the hotel was fine, the staff is friendly, food is average, rooms are a little outdated and the prices are not too high. If you're looking for an average hotel with an average price that's where you should go. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach so that's convenient too. I didn't have the best experience with the activity desk there though. I wanted to find something to do in Hawaii so I went to the Local Expert desk to get a tour and the concierge seemed like he doesn't care about me and... Read more

After a long flight and finally getting to the hotel after riding a shuttle from the airport we were greeted at the hotel by a great front desk person who helped us. He uprated us to a sweet which was really nice and made our stay a lot nicer. He helped us in every way possible and even things I didn't think of. Great staff and nice place to stay. Ten minute walk to the beach. I like the place and I can see Diamond Head and the beach from my room.

waikiki is not my cuppa tea, too expensive, too many tourists, however, the staff was super friendly and helpful and worked hard to make our visit great. the room has kind of a kitchen but ultimately on a small bar fridge, seems like they would have a microwave. got a lot of traffic noise but not sure you can escape that. pool was nice, nice pool chairs.

This hotel met our needs very well. It is not 5 star, elaborate or grand but we were very content there. The location was great for us also. It was a nice walk over to Hilton Hawaiian Village for Lapperts ice cream. Also it was close enough to do the nice long walk along the Waikiki beach sidewalk. It was certainly walking distance to the Army Museum and restaurants. I went alone in the dark by myself and felt very safe in the main touristy area. The tiled floors were clean. We stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and had a fantastic stay so we thought we would return and stay here again, Last time we rated this hotel 5 star. Sadly this time only 2, only because of the elevators, be prepared to wait 10-15 mins just to get into the lift. Such a pain when you are on the 16th floor. Could not fault the staff though, very friendly and apologetic about the elevator problems. Only 1 or 3 lifts were working during our stay

My husband and I were so excited to be celebrating our honeymoon in Hawaii! We bundled our packages to get a cheaper flight and better hotel. I did research on the hotel beforehand and it looked to be pretty neat looking. We got a kitchenette with partial ocean view. From the pictures that we saw online it showed the partial ocean view to be more open and not dead center in city view. We were able to see a small little area of the ocean, very tiny part while having to go out on balcony. From the... Read more

Our group of nine had four rooms which we booked directly with the hotel 7 months ahead for the night before and night after our NCL POA cruise. The rooms were reasonably priced and we honestly stayed in them both nights for less than 12 hours due to flights and excursions. With it being short overnight stays, the location and view of the ocean wasn't a big issue. Both nights we had trouble getting rooms with two queen beds we requested which made some sleeping arrangements a little uncomfortabl... Read more

We were in Honolulu for a conference, and chose this hotel for its location near the Hawaii Convention Center and reasonable price. The room was good, though a big aged. Had excellent small kitchen and it would be possible to eat all meals in the room (though this would mean missing some very nice restaurants). Our double bed was comfortable, but having only one lamp was a source of some discussion. WiFI was free, of course, and bathroom amenities were good. Staff were very good, helped us f... Read more

Right from the moment we arrived a the hotel the less than average service began. We walked past the staff member at the driveway lugging our suitcases up the steps only to find out later there is a ramp to the side of the hotel. There was a lengthy rushed intro to the hotel and then off to our city view room. The room itself whilst a little tired and old was spacious and clean. The air conditioner which was fitted into the window was so incredibly noisy we couldn't hear the TV over top of it. W... Read more

We stopped at this hotel before flying home - the room was fine although a little odd to have kitchen area with no oven, hob, microwave or kettle. No breakfast served at the hotel at all. No mini bar. There are three lifts but only one working and it seemed very odd - going up it would stop on every floor no matter what and going down similar - us and others often waited 15 - 20 mins for the lift only to then spend another 5 squashed inside as it stopped on every floor - it may sound like a smal... One of the lifts was not working. I believe they are slowly updating them however it's quite an inconvenience.Wait times on them can be long. Luckily we were on the 3rd floor so not so bad for us. Although most times it arrived it was packed full of people and we all had to squeeze in. The room I felt was a bit dated. The hotel is in a good location close to shops. This hotel is totally deceptive. As you approach you see this beautiful facade and entryway, the foyer is fantastic but then as you get further and further into the hotel you discover that the front is a facade and the interior rooms and service experience are just not up to par in many ways. There is a laundry where you can do your own washing unless you want them to do it at a price. Its roughly about 70 metres from the Waikiki beach line. Stayed here for a couple of nights upon arrival in Hawaii before heading to the north shore where I had a beach house booked for the rest of my stay. There isn't really anything "wrong" with the Luana and if you're after a decent place in a handy location for exploring Waikiki at a good price then this will definitely fit the bill. When I stay at a 3.5 hotel, I expect a Hilton/Hyatt/Marriott. This wasn't that level of a hotel. The elevators are falling apart and it seems like they have done a kind of face lift. The front desk people are great and the lobby is beautiful. I got this on Hotwire, but I normally wouldn't stay at a place like this. For the price, it was excellent, so overall it was average.

We had a partial ocean view hotel room with a small kitchenette on the 12th floor. This provided excellent value as you could eat some of your meals in the room and save significant money. Although not directly on the beach, access was through a very nice park. Very central location. Gym and pool were small but more than adequate and the staff were very informative and friendly. The only thing that was a negative were the very slow elevators which are in the midst of a much needed upgrade.

I booked this hotel with Priceline for $143/night. I thought that was on the nicer end of budget hotel spending and with a 3.8 out of 5 rating I thought, how bad could it be? It was pretty terrible. There was only one working elevator, $35/night parking, and thin walls. Our room over looked a gas station and you could hear EVERY noise from outside- garbage truck, skateboarder, you name it. The staff was very nice and the hotel was relatively clean but I would never stay here again.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly, generally tidy hotel but the rooms were smaller than expected and you couldn't swing a cat in the bathroom! The elevators were so slow I ended up taking the stairs! On check out, I found out they bill you about US$18 per day for a "hospitality fee". This pays for the use of the pool, free video, WIFI, etc - excuse me, I didn't use the pool nor hired any videos although I did use the WIFI to check my emails. Definitely not 4 star, maybe 3 star.
