We stayed here our first few days on Oahu and would recommend this hotel to other travelers. The room we had was a good size and had a view of the city, mountains, and ocean. I loved that the hotel was a short walk to the beach and to Waikiki stores and restaurants! I'll come again!

Hotel staff are all very pleasant & friendly - especially Erica in reservations! She was SO helpful & caring. ??? That's where the compliments end however......the hotel is in desperate need of repair & updating!! Carpets old/dirty, bathroom from the 70's, pool small, balcony FULL of concrete cancer - almost too scared to stand on, a/c noisy & old. Price paid $187.00 USD/nt. Would rather have paid more to stay somewhere more reassuring!

The Reservation staff and the front desk staff was very accommodating, when I wanted to check in a day earlier than my original reservation. They said I had to check out and check back in for the hotel stay if I wanted to check in a day earlier. They made it happen where I didn't have to switch rooms and it was awesome. Overall this stay was a good today and I plan to be back. On a side note they have breakfast buffet which is $12.95 per person and they offer free Kama'aina Parking...

The good - the staff is very friendly and helpful. I agree with another reviewer that whatever you needed the staff will supply promptly and with a smile. The room was cleaned every day, the views are fantastic, and you can't beat the location with walking distance to the beach, shopping, and food! The rooms are very pretty. The bad - Guest room amenities are not free. They cost $10 per day. The pool area needs work, but why go to the pool when the beach is within walking distance?? The ugly -... Read more

Our family just relocated to Honolulu and was staying in Waikiki Gateway for couple of days. Everything seems pretty decent except the Wifi didn't work in our room which slows down our house searching process a bit. Other than that, it was a pretty nice stay. Especially, I would like to give a big thanks to one of the hotel staff "Miles Tynanes" for his warm Aloha spirit. He's been very friendly and helpful after we checked out with our 10 luggages. Stayed for 4 days and the room was o.k. Price of the room was good but small for a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys. Location was good. But our bathroom was very run-down and is in need of repair. The waterfall at the pool wasn't working as advertised. The view from the balcony was beautiful. What made the stay worthwhile was the staff. Front desk staff always a smile and aloha. The valet guys were awesome! Showing kokua to my o'hana and always asking how our day went.

This hotel is meant to be 3* I'm not sure I'd even give it 2* and it was by no means inexpensive. On arrival at the hotel after dark it was clear to see this was not the best hotel. We checked in and to be fair the staff seemed lovely. We had booked a deluxe Waikiki view room but the room they gave us was far from deluxe. There's a bad smell in this hotel the minute you get out the elevator. We'd hoped by the time we got in the room the smell would disappear. We were seriously disappointed! No... Read more

You can access this hotel to the airport within 30 minuets by uber.If you arrive the hotel early before check-in, you can keep your luggages in the hotel, It is $1 per luggage. This hotel provide high speed Wi-Fi in the room. But the Wi-fi only can be accessable in front of door.

We stayed here for a week, the rooms are clean and well maintained with a decent 50" tv. The pool looks better in the pictures than it is, but the hotel is only a short walk from the beach anyway. Abc store downstairs is handy and convenient. Overall a good hotel considering the money we paid, only issue was the wifi which was extremely slow and dropped out frequently.

The Waikiki Gateway was rated a 2.9 out of 4 stars by Travelocity. A more accurate score should have been 1.9 stars. The rooms and amenities are old, the bath tub was peeling and there was insufficient space for a desk in the room. Finally, the hotel decided to begin full scale renovations on our floor which disrupted the quality of my stay. If the hotel needed to do the renovations, they should have not rented rooms on my floor.

Very clean and yes they are doing upgrading, but the workers were very nice, kept the spaces they were working clean, and we were never disturbed by t... Read more

I'm very disappointed with my stay here, I thought it was average and overpriced. The young girl at the front with the braces on check in tried to rip me off, I wanted to pay my balance of the accommodation in cash and she said it was $40 short I said it wasn't so she counted again and her excuse was the $100 notes got stuck... Which doesn't even make sense! She made me quite angry. The location was ok the room was average, the hairdryer made the power go out on 5 separate occasions and the air ... Read more

Rooms are very clean, in fact the entire Gateway hotel was clean! Everything worked properly in regards to fixtures, toilet, lights, tv, ac, etc. The view is great, and it was actually quite peaceful considering it's location. Speaking of location, it's very easy to get to and the staff there are amazing! From the 24hr. Front desk to the incredibly polite valets, they were ALWAYS courteous...especially the front desk...they way they tend to you it's like you're "royalty" or something! NOTE: The ... Read more

Princess and Aaron at the front desk were amazing as far as customer service goes, they were able to accommodate all my needs and even assigned us a different room after speaking on the needs that I had with wanting a bigger room. If there's one thing that I really appreciate its good customer service coming from a customer service-based industry myself and I have to say Princess and Aaron did a great job moving us from that specific room to a bigger room considering that this was our first day ... I've been coming to Hawaii for decades and for the best price value the most excellent customer service in Waikiki, remodeling of rooms is the Gateway Hotel! Why go to an overpriced Hotel where you get treated at like the average Joe why not go someplace a little more quaint and be treated like a king or queen after all isn't that what vacation supposed to be.

I've never stayed at this hotel, however I believe I'm entitled to review it since I did pay over $2000 for an 11 night stay. I emailed reservations as we were flying in from Australia and our flight lands at 6am. Since check in is at 3pm, that left a lot of hours with 2 young kids after an 11 hour flight. I was unable to book the prior night without starting a new booking so I emailed reception to see if they could make the reservation on their end. And I waited. Given the time difference, a... The front desk were truly awesome and polite. The staff assisted with my family engagement arraignment with a perfect room for Friday's firework display, when I proposed. We're planning to stay there next year.

Stayed here recently, the hotel is being renovated so some of the hallway and common areas are obviously being repaired. When we got to our room, the room itself was nicely renovated and was appealing. But when I got to the bathroom, well this was another subject. The sink had rust stains at the drain, the mirror was obviously in need of replacement, the tub/shower had dirt stains in it, the drain, faucet, were all worn out. The wall in back of the toilet was waving, like it had water damage... Read more

I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. The staff is what truly made the stay wonderful. Will, Princess, and Pablo are just a few of the staff members that made the stay that much better. Special thanks to Pablo for pointing us in the right direction and getting us amazing deals on the Waikiki Trolley and the Paradise Cove Lu'au. The beds were comfy and pillows as well! Large deck on the 16th floor to relax and lounge and have a few drinks. Great place!

The staff was very accommodating to us. I've never met nicer people in my life. They made sure our stay was great, provided great customer service, and I thought we received great value from our stay. The breakfast was good, the parking wasn't expensive and room rate was cheap. The view from the room was amazing.

We loved Waikiki gateway. Our room was clean and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool and loved having buffet breakfast. I loved the idea of texting your needs to reception and it would be attended to right away. The best thing about this place was the staff. They were always warm and welcoming. Miles was awesome. He's very knowledgeable about the local scene and gave us advice on where to go to take the kids. Reception staff Sierra and Princess were so kind and friendly. My husband even got a... Read more
