Stayed here for three nights while in Honolulu May 4-7. The room we had on the 16th floor had a galley kitchen, living room and bedroom that could be closed off. The room was clean, bed comfortable and furnishings ok, but outdated. The bathroom was clean, but the shower has been re-calked so much it would be better and look much better to put in a new shower. The lobby area is nice, staff helpful/friendly and there is a small store and small breakfast/lunch area serving food that is quite go... Read more

This hotel is well situated just two short blocks from Waikiki Beach and the shopping strip in one direction with the Zoo and Aquarium in the other. It had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. As I was travelling with a friend we had single beds which was a bit of a problem for space as my bed was up against the wardrobe and had to be moved to get at the clothes or the safe. The rest of the unit was spacious enough with a living room area, dining area and a galley kitchen. The kitchen ... Read more

We got hit with hidden fees including a mandatory extra per night charge for DVD rental + other standard amenities. This bumped our (already expensive!) advertised nightly stay up by 20% - 30%. Watch out for this! Not once did the valet pick up the phone when I called (4 times). The rooms are horrible. They look and feel like they're from the 90's. Further, our room came with two single beds when we specified a double, queen or king. You want tea or coffee? Enjoy the milk powder. No mini bar... Read more

Enjoyed our stay near waikiki beach-one block away. Lots of restaurants and shopping and close to diamond head. You can also take the Bus anywhere for $ 2.25.Hawaii's beautiful and has a good vibe. The condo was ok not super but had a great view-choose a higher roomonly the apt was a bit dated not too shabby though.

Loved my stay at the Banyan... a short stroll to the beach in one direction or the zoo in the other. While in Oahu, there were a lot of construction sites happening in the more central part of Waikiki, so we were lucky to be on the outskirt of all this noise!! The room was comfortable, a bit outdated in décor but the beds were extremely comfy and our room was kept clean for us, it was, after all, just a place to sleep as theres so much to see and do! Our room was on the 33rd floor and the vi... Read more

We stayed here for 5 nights. This hotel accommodated our family of 5. The hotel was walking distance to the beach aquarium restaurants ect. The front desk staff were very polite and helped us book our tickets for various activities we wanted to go to. Overall the room itself was a little outdated but we barely stayed in there anyways. It was a great family vacation and thank you to the staff at Waikiki banyan for your great service.

We arrived at 8am and were not able to check in until 3pm. Not happy. We had travelled from NZ for 8 hours so were very tired. I don't know why we had to wait for 7 hours to get in. We were able to leave our cases at the hotel but then had to find something to do for that time. Tired, grumpy and very very hot. Surely they could clean our room faster than that.

First, let me say the managers were really nice! and they did everything they could to make up for the horrible room that was given to us the first time!!! This place needs upgrading!!! The elevator had plywood on the floor!!! what???! uh! low budget!!!!! They gave us a room that was on the 25th floors that had amazing views but.... we walked in the door and it was horrible!!! The floor had vynly flooring that was blue and white/turning yellow!!! The carpet must've been original because it was b... Read more

The initial impression was pretty much a "wow". The lobby is all that we expected of a hotel in Hawaii-open aired with a Polynesian feel and a waterfall. Even the elevator was classy. And our view was stunning. That's where the impressiveness ended. Although the room was large and had a mini kitchen, I wouldn't have used the appliances. The light switch was dirty, the floor was dirty, and everything had a less than clean feel to it. Maybe it was because the furniture and decor were so outdated, ... Read more

It was a stay with my family; 3 adults, 1 kids of 3 year-old, 1 baby of 5 months. I had reservations of 2 rooms. One for us of 4 , the other one is for my mother. Our room was the nearest(same position in opposite side) as I had requested. This hotel doesn't have any connecting room. Our rooms were on 23th floor. I requested them to have higher floor. My room had twin bed. My mother's room had double bed(connected one). It was different from my request. I asked reservation staff to have doubl... Read more

We had an apartment which was a bit " dated" and "tired " in need of upgrading...nevertheless the beds were comfortable and we did have a bath as well as a shower .The kitchen facilities were also good ,the daily housekeeping was just to make the beds and change towels with full vacuuming etc done only every 3 days !The highlight of staying at this facilities is the close proximity to Waikiki beach and trolley stop.... beach 5 minutes walk and trolley 2 minutes ( just around the corner ) Unfor... This was a perfect location. We made this our "base" and walked and drove the entire island of Oahu. We were on island for 6 days. Spectacular mountain side view-tower 2. The staff was wonderful. we stayed in tower 2. There was laundry on every floor. There was a mini mart. Parking available but quite spends! $20 per day. We stayed in a room with kitchenette which was stocked nicely with most everything we needed. We went to Safeway which was about a mile a way and got our evening meals, sn... Read more

We loved condo 2003 in tower II. The whole process was quick and easy for renting it and getting in on the first day. Inside it is large and welcoming. The newly remodeled unit is light and bright and stylish. The air conditioner is a nice touch too. It was a quiet location with a great view day and night. My family liked the location, and we walked every where. The other things I liked were free parking, free wifi and no resort fee. I spent a lot of time trying to find something like this in Wa... Pros: This properties are in great location. Right off Kuhio Blvd and two blocks away from Waikiki beach. Close to a lot of good restaurants and local dives. This properties is located on the south end of Waikiki easy in and out of the area to Kapahulu blvd & the freeway without having to meander through Waikiki traffic. Great location to get in and out of Waikiki. Within walking distance of Kuhio Beach (safe shallow swimming area, no rocks, with lifeguard station and seawalls), Queens Beach with shallow swimming area and rocky area (lots of fishes). The Honolulu Zoo and Aquarium are also within easy walking distance. 1 Bedroom, 1 bath, 1 small full kitchen and living room. Lanai to sit out on. We faced the Ala Wai Canal. we go to Hawaii every year to be with family. We tried several places until we went to the Banyon. We have now been there the last 12 years. The rooms are large, full kitchen, wifi, parking, views, bbqs and more. Location is great one block from the beach and two blocks from the zoo. With the full kitchen we save heaps. But there are many places to eat nearby. Parking seals the deal. It is a place I am happy to be at, as a former local it is a place my ohana loves to meet at. Sometimes when you ... Read more

I stayed 10 days at the Banyan Waikiki end of June 2016. First time in Honolulu. Familly of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids - 8 and 10 ). We loved the great location which is 1 block from the beach. It is located on a more quiet area of waikiki which is great for famillies with kids. We took an ocean view room on the 34th floor which was great to wake up to I was disapointed that my unit was not a renovated one. Everything inside was old and dated. This is an average hotel that is showing its age. It is located just a short walk back from the beach and the area is quite quiet. The curtain in our bedroom consisted of simply a net-lace, which failed to block out the light. This meant we woke at sunrise when a bit more of a sleep after a long flight would have been welcomed.

I think this property is great for families and longer stays, but it was just too old and outdated for me. It's a few blocks to Waikiki, and they have a little convenience store next to the elevators. The view from my first room was incredible, Diamond Head and partial ocean view, but the room itself was bland with tacky furniture. I checked with the front desk and they said I could look at another room the next day. I received excellent customer service from the following employees: Ihilan... Read more

The rooms in this hotel were very much in need of renovations. Every cushion on our couches had holes/rips. The bathroom had patched holes on the wall. The carpet was old and stained. But the location is excellent. The size of the rooms were good. Full kitchen in the room. Great kids playground and pool onsite. Good convenience store and coffee shop in the foyer area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. With renovations I'd rate this 4/5 but they are long overdue.

I agree with a few of the other reviews, the hotel is in need of renovations and it is a bit outdated but the location is the best! The rooms we had were very dated and definitely needed a makeover. The beds were comfortable and clean. It's a great location with only a short walk to the beach. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the beach front so a lot quieter.
