Great remodel done on the few floors they have done. Didn't hear any construction noises during our stay. Pool area was nice and clean, the water fall was fun and looked good at night. Only bad part was when they redid the room door they didn't sand the edges so the door was hard to open and close and the A/C unit needed a good cleaning some mold was forming.

After reading TA reviews and studying the Aqua Bamboo website I wanted to love this hotel! I will start with the positives... Friendly staff, clean, attractive lobby, beautiful pool area, family suites with three beds and kitchenette, nice beds and linens, lemon water in the lobby and close to Waikiki Beach! Now the negatives...Hallways, rooms, furnishings are all very dingy and worn. Sliding glass doors to balconies are very hard to open. The traffic was so loud that it felt like I was trying ... If you are looking for a reasonably quiet room, ask for a room which over looks the pool. Otherwise with a street facing room you will be subjected to intolerable street noise from vehicles and tourist buses. Some of the rooms are double glazed which reduces some noise but we stayed in a room with old glazing and I was weeping with relief when we checked out after 5 nights of incessant noise. IF we hadnt hired a car and escaped Waikiki for one of the days we were staying I'm unsure if I would... Read more

We didn't stay in this hotel long (just one night) since we were off to Kauai right after, but I still felt the hotel deserved a review. The day we arrived the hotel had a lovely outdoor event prepared complete with lei making, live music, fresh juice cocktails and food. It was such a welcome surprise! The staff is friendly and the hotel is in a great location next to Waikiki beach. Definitely recommend this area!

We spent about a week at the Aqua Bamboo. We enjoyed our stay. The kitchenette was a great feature. The Managers Hour on Thursdays was also good featuring music, dancing and free food and drink! We had a courtyard facing room on level 9 which was lovely and we could see the pool and a little bit of the ocean! Aja was very helpful, so friendly and always remembered little things about our day that made us feel welcome. She is a star! There is a shuttle that runs between the aqua hotels which is ... Right in the center of Waikiki, close to the beach and all amenities, but hotel is old and rooms are noisy due to old air conditioning. Even with the more expensive rooms we had a very small double bed. The pool area is not very inviting, the pizzas are good though. Ok for a night before moving on to other islands.

A fantastic place to stay. Was put up on the twelfth floor. WOW great view with two balconies. Centrally located with everything within walking distance. Car rental next door so we went to the north shore one day. I can't wait to go back. I will definitely request the twelfth floor again!

The lobby is lovely and sets an expectations of the rooms. The kitchennette in our room was great and the beds were comfy. However, the bathroom had red stains all up and down the walls of the shower and seemed very "murder-scene esc." The a/c also leaked onto our carpet and down the balcony door. The majority of the leak was thankfully outside. Hotel staff were kind and friendly. Location was great! Right by the food pantry and only 2 blocks from the beach. The stinky smoke shop next door was ... Read more

The Aqua Bamboo is an older property redesigned and fashioned into a comfortable boutique hotel. Just two blocks from Waikiki, in the midst of numerous restaurants and shops, this fourteen story hotel with a limited underground parking lot is very reasonably priced for Oahu. The hotel does charge a $15/ day resort fee that includes wifi and beach equipment. Rooms with kitchenettes have extra fees and include microwaves, refrigerators, two burner cooktops and all necessary kitchen equipment. T... Read more

My wife and I were in Hawaii for a friend's wedding, and most of the guests stayed at the Aqua Bamboo hotel. I have to start with our first night there. We had a terrible room with a strong mildew smell from damp carpets, a big cockroach lurking around the kitchen area, and the air con was noisy! This was on the 12th floor, and right next to the laundry room. It was not a good experience at all. So, we made a complaint to reception the next morning and requested for a room change. Aja was on ... Read more

We are a family of four with two teenage children. We stayed at the Aqua Bamboo for 10 days in May. What you see in the photos is what you get. The rooms are quite dated and could do with refurbishing. Air conditioning was extremely noisy there was no way you could have it on at night. The location was fantastic. We had a one bedroom unit on the 4th floor it was very small but we knew that when we booked. It was very noisy, the hotel is on a main thoroughfare into Waikiki so traffic noise... Read more

The photos in the advertising are nothing like the "real" thing. So shabby. The age of the place would not have been a problem had the maintenance been kept up. Just awful. The curtains in our room were mended with black "dogtooth" thread on cream fabric. Air conditioner so loud we had to turn it off, and the "wet" smell in the whole building was off putting. My husband and I have travelled extensively and been in many types of hotels, old and new, luxurious and humble. But the smell and shabbin... Read more

We our a military family and stayed here on the TLA program for a week before heading to our next duty station. We enjoyed our stay very much. I have read many of the reviews of this hotel and sometimes I feel you just can't please some people. They are going to find something to complain about and they expect everything to be perfect. We lived on the island for 3 years and the cost of living is expensive. I understand that this hotel doesn't want to waste lobby space or hall space when real est... Read more

We extended our holiday by one night and ended up staying at the Bamboo (we booked into the Aqua Pacific next door but they overbooked so put us up in the Bamboo). Although it was just my wife and I, were given a family room (twin room, separate double bedroom, kitchen) which was a nice surprise. However, the room was situated by the main room and it is very, very noisy. It is nigh on impossible to get any sleep beyond 6am and the windows are so thin you might as well sleep on the balcony. When I arrived, I found that the room was nice, but overlooked a service area in the building right next door. I asked if another room was available - I was given a much upgraded suite. There was no problem and the front desk clerk was very amenable. The room overlooked Kuhio. It was noisy because Waikiki is noisy and busy at all hours. The kitchen area was really clean, and the appliances new. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows soft and squishy. The pool area is attractive and a quiet... Read more

Upon arrival, shown to our room, not appealing at all. Tap handles fell off, power point not working, could not connect to WIFI. Air conditioner very noisy. Complained to management, they agreed to move us. 2nd Disappointment, room overlooked busy street so besides a noisy air con, we also had extreme traffic noise. Once again complained to management, obligingly they moved us again, success at last, unable to use aircon at night, due to noise, outlook much better, overlooked pool area.. Lokahi... Read more

We had a room with a fully equipped kitchen with two balconies, one with a sideview and the other poolside. It is centrally located near the beach, luxury row (shopping), and the zoo. There is also public transportation that will also take you anywhere you need to go. We had a late flight and for a reasonable fee we were aloud to get an evening check out.

We stayed 3 nights at the Bamboo. The hotel is in a great location. Room was clean and had good amenities. It is an easy 2 minute walk to beach, cafes, restaurants and the busy centre of Waikiki. We had a tour booked - the tour pick ups are at the Sheraton which is a 1 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel if you are out and about and want a good clean place to stay.

This older hotel has only 12 floors, making it more welcome, attentive, and easy to get in and out of than a plain, overcrowded high-rise hotel. The decor and furnishings are perfectly adorned with bamboo and tropical plants. The room had plumeria blooms tucked in many places, which gave a very appreciated touch. The outdoor pool and garden area was absolutely beautiful; you really wouldn't know you are in the middle of the city. The plants and trees were tall, lush, and green, and I loved t... Read more

Great location. Unfortunately we had a street facing room on the 5th floor and it was very noisy. Lots of street noise so you couldn't enjoy the balcony day or night. The air conditioning units in both rooms were also very noisy so you couldn't have them on at night. The Lovin' Oven pizza was excellent as was most of the staff and the couple of issues we had on check-in were attended to. Our small gift on checking out was appreciated.

Well, lets' do the air conditioners first. Yes, they are noisy! But after two days I did't even notice them. Plus they take away the street noise in the morning to help you sleep in:) The staff here are ALL great! They treat you like you are their friends and make you feel very comfortable. The pool area is a unique setting and feels very Hawaiian. Loved it. The property is very close to the beach also...a nice bonus! The rooms are older, but nice. That's why the four rating.Would suggest to ge... Read more

Enjoying our stay - great location, close access to beach, shopping and restaurants. Whilst the property is a little dated, rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Amenities are good with kitchenette in our room, laundry facilities located on several floors. Pizza Cafe by the pool, and their pizza is delicious! Looking forward to the remainder of our stay!

The service at this Hotel is amazing. The staff are gracious, patient & friendly and always approachable. No question was every a problem. The only flaw was the rooms. The Air Con was extremely loud and in our sons room it leaked. The fridge had no water jug for cold water and the kitchenette no kettle, or 'hot pot' as Americans call it. Very small and basic rooms when your bunking in with a 13 year old but needless to say the beds were quite comfy. I think a 3 star rating for the amenities... Read more

After reading previous trip advisor reviews we requested an upper level room. We were on the 11th floor street and this was great. Very limited street noise and our toddler had no trouble with day time sleeps. Short walk to the beach and shops. All staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and fresh. The bus stop was on the opposite side of the road so it was easy to get around if required. Food pantry (supermarket) was 2 blocks away. The washer and dryer came in handy located on 3... Read more

I booked my Hawaii trip last minute and couldn't be happier with staying at the Aqua Bamboo Hotel in Wakiki. The rooms are spacious, cleaned to the highest level every single day and everyone in service has a genuine smile and desire to help and answer any questions that you have. I love to travel, but get nervous about things, such as where to go, how to get a cab, etc and the staff here answered all of my questions and I never felt like a wimp asking for it.
