The location was lovely and the view from my room was awesome, total ocean view! Hotel under remodeling construction, no phones in room, no room service, should be nice when completed. No restaurants available, needed microwave for continental breakfast.

I would recommend if you have to stay in Hilo, best to look some where else to stay. Hilo Naniloa has an ideal location, however, the massive renovation is a nightmare. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, it will be okay. There are no amenities, a room, shower, and a bed that is what you are going to get. No place to eat or sight see around the hotel, a hotel staffer actually told me "At your own risk" to walk around the hotel. You throw in some Coqui frogs during the night time, a... Read more

The Naniloa is undergoing extensive renovation, which does not make it very attractive to visitors staying at the hotel. We had a wonderful ocean front room with a large balcony which made our stay worthwhile. The room could still use some upgrading and repairs although I saw a lot of work done to the room. I don't know if the workers missed some areas or it just was not addressed. Improvement on amenities in the room would be most helpful, iron, ironing board, microwave, etc. We had no pho... Read more

We stayed two nights here in April. It is going under extensive renovations. We chose a corner room with a full view. It was so worth it. Yes, the hotel is not all up to par but for us who are not looking to hang out at the hotel all day it was just fine and at a great price. The grounds are beautiful! We watched turtles and fish swim all around. The elevators and hallways were bare bones but again I care more for the room and price rather then everything else. They did have a pool that people ... It was a great rate of $96 a night. But all the dust drilling sawing nail pounding durinf the day was not relaxful. God thing we start off property durinf the day. The lobby is finished and there is a new bar and louge area with a fantastic view of Hilo bay and Mauna Kea Mountain. There is a small pool as compared to the amount if rooms. There also are only 3 elevators that make the wait time longer than usual. The is a complimentary continental breakfast with papaya and pineapples along with p... Read more

I just checked in yesterday but I highly recommend this hotel just due to the great service and comfort my family has received thus far. We flew over from Oahu one day after my Daughter and my brother to meet up with them at the hotel they were stay at. Only did we realize that their were TWO airports on the island! We got in through the Hiilo airport and realized our mistake when our family told us we were on the wrong side. So as a last minute booking we booked with this hotel so we could driv... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for several weeks while on a work assignment. The hotel is undergoing serious renovations, so some information I provide now may not be relevant once the construction is completed. I found the staff to be very welcoming and accommodating, as I was always greeted with a smile and help from the reception staff was swift. In the lobby, I always saw staff members mopping the floor, so attention to cleanliness and neatness in the common areas was well attended to. There... Read more

I stayed at Naniloa 3 nights. When I checked in I was not warned that the property has been under renovation, and there is a lot of noise and commotion during the day. Rooms don't have phones or Internet. Elevators weren't working most of the times. Front desk people were less than helpful and even less friendly. The room was decent, but the balcony slider door was worn out and nearly impossible to open. When I complained the receptionist Glenn said that he was not interested to hear my complai... Read more

This was our first time staying at the Naniloa Hotel. We were disappointed because of the renovation going on. Our room was a little dusty, there was no wifi or phone in the room, and the continental breakfast was ok. We had to go to the lobby for the wifi which was an inconvenience. We didn't like the smell in our room from the construction work. I will say that the service personnel were very friendly. Also the location is convenient to downtown Hilo. We walked to the Farmers Market wh... Read more

Beautiful location. Major problems with hotel. Do NOT stay here until they get their act together. Stayed in a "newly renovated room" with shoddy workmanship. Don't go barefoot because the carpet tacking straps are exposed. Carpet is held down by black electrical tape. No restaurant or food service. No air conditioning in meeting room. This is a troubled renovation project. Tragic situation because of the gorgeous setting and proximity to the airport.

My family has a reunion every 2 years..So I could come back again & again..But the answer is NO..The room was dirty. There is no screens on the window..Therefore no fresh air, in Hawaii that has tradewinds..is unheard of..also I was bitten by mosquitoes..Breakfast included was a joke..Best Western & Comfort Inn put out a better spread..At least they have a microwave to warm your danish up..Not a toaster to get electrocuted..Make staff clean the toast when people us it..No cereal in boxes with pl... The room was nice. Construction really is messing things up, no phone in the room, very slow check in pool is small and many locals use it. elevators were very slow only one of the three seemed to be working no internet in the rooms even considering they says they have it.

I stayed here about six months ago and it is much better. It is still under construction and needs work but it is getting there. The lack of phones and wifi in the rooms are an issue as are the limited parking and no room service but the lobby is quite nice with lots of seating and the staff are very friendly. The height of the tub is really high and will be an issue for older travelers or people with knee issues. The beds are pretty basic and there are places in the hallways that are still ... Read more

This hotel is under major renovation. Our room on the 5th floor had not been redone yet. The style of the room is minimalistic, which is fine. But when there isn't much in the room, the blemishes really show up. The beds were comfortable if you like really soft beds (I do). The linens were clean and bright white. The main problem was that the woodwork was scarred up and the room was in dire need of a paint job. AND there was no hair dryer in our room! Very unusual. I don't believe I've ever stay... Read more

We have stayed in Hilo Naniloa Hotel for a night on 29 Jun 2016. As first we are quite worries about staying in this hotel as the reviews of this hotel are comparative poor. Since they are still under renovation. Some of the hotel section still look like a construction site insteadd of a hotel. As we have prepared for that before coming, it gave us a great surpurse that the actual environment was not that worse. We are assigned to stay on the 7th floor with great view. This is a partly renov... Read more
