Guests have access to the variety of adventure and cultural tours available on the unspoiled East side of the Big Island. Guests can take romantic day trips, explore the white, black, and even green sand beaches, go surfing, fishing, hiking, take a helicopter tour, or even a stargazing tour. There is a 9 hole golf course adjacent to the property, and all registered guests receive a FREE round of golf DAILY.

Hotel renovations are scheduled to begin August 1, 2014. By the week of July 21, 2014, the temporary lobby will be located in the lower lobby of Mauna Kea building fronting the elevators.  Vehicles may pull up in the lower lobby porte cochere, between the Polynesian room and the Mauna Kea/Mauna Loa Towers. Signage will be prominently displayed to direct guests.  Work hours are scheduled from 8am-4pm, seven days a week. Work will be completed in neighboring buildings to minimize any impact to guests. The main lobby/public area will be closed to public access from August 1. The renovation project at Hilo Naniloa Hotel is
continuing to the next phase which includes enhancements to the pool and pool deck area. The pool and pool deck area is now closed through December 30, 2015. One of the 3 elevators will be reserved for construction use and will be unavailable to guests during work hours. Hotel Renovation to be completed on March 31, 2016, renovation work hours
are limited between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, seven (7) days a week.

We were there in Mar,14. Upon Arrival, I saw the pictures of the hotel, I read review, I knew I shouldn't expect too much, but nothing would have prepared me to what we saw. Wow! There are 3 buildings there, only one is running. The whole thing looked like Zoombie land. I am not joking. My husband and my 2 kids suggested we should just drive back to the Kona side right the way. The whole building has no phone. There were ants crawling on the floor.
