We were on the cruise and decided to stay overnight on Hilo and drive across the island to meet the ship on Kona. We had a nice balcony room and were fortunate to see the cruise ship leaving port on the night we were in Hilo. Enjoyed the balcony! Check in was easy as was checkout the next morning. We had a little difficulty getting the free wi-fi to work in the room, so the front desk offered us some free time on the lobby computers. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that... Read more

The hotel in general was just fine. It is a little dated when you enter the front but the room we stayed in seemed very nice. Definitely worth the extra to get the ocean view rooms. There's an amazing view of Mauna Kea, a beautiful view of the bay, and of course Coconut Island. One major issue with the rooms is that the light for the toilet turns on the lights at the sink also, which is open to the bedroom. So if someone gets up in the middle of the night to use the facilities, the whole ro... Read more

This hotel is only ten minutes from the airport, however there is no shuttle service and one needs a taxi. The rooms are small but comfortable and have a TV, refrigerator, and coffee maker. There's also a small balcony with chairs. The staff is very friendly and outgoing and very helpful. There is complementary fruit in the lobby and breakfast is included in the price of the room. The hotel has two computers in the lobby for guests to use. The grounds around the place are attractive and there ar... Read more

We were very happy with the facility and the room at this hotel. The room we received had a nice lanai that overlooked the beautiful bay. Room was very nice but was not over the top fantastic. The area was fantastic with beautiful walking areas through a park and bayfront. A few restaurants nearby but majority of town services about a mile away. Near airport but had no noise issue.

What a pleasant surprise this hotel turned out to be. The reviews I had read made me believe parking and the condition was an issue. It was not! It is an older facility, but well maintained. The minor issues that came up where quickly handled by an extremely friendly staff. Restaurant food was very good. Dinners were limited if you did' want the Buffet on the weekends. I would stay there again.

A nice place to visit offering quick access to drive either north up the coast or south to the volcanoes. A good restaurant and helpful hints from the staff of thing to do and see in the Hilo area. Fabulous view of Mauna Kea from our balcony. Would definitely stay again.

The hotels on the Hilo side of the island seem to all be in a row (at least the ones I saw). The Hilo Hawaiian is in a good location for sightseeing and the airport. The hotel is older, but well taken care of and clean. I would stay here again.

We stayed there one night on Jan 1st night. We arrived late, after 8:30 pm, and were fortunate that it's restaurant was open and served us. This is place is on the ocean and next to a beautiful seaside park. It is close to downtown Hilo. We had a travel-related issue and they let us check out as late as 1 pm. Overall, was happy with this place.

Great service. Friendly staff. Nice view. The hotel is a little bit old, but the location is great. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. Everything worked in the room and the room was clean.

Very nice, covered parking, very close to airport. Arrived late at night and woke to beautiful views out on a park and the ocean. Beautiful landscaping, not new, but neat and clean. Hilo farmers market right down the street was great place to find great Hawaiian crafts.
