"We were very surprised when we arrived as we managed to get some amazing cheap flights from Oahu to Hilo for a couple of days that included our accomodation.

The hotel was above our expectation with nice comfy rooms and a great view of coconut island. The undercover free parking was an added bonus and unlimited free WI-FI in the lobby really helped out with planning some activities.

Everyone was very helpful and the food in the restaurant was great value and good quality.

Will without a doubt return back there in out next trip and was a fantastic representation of Hawaiian hospitality/ :)"

"I would not stay at this hotel again. When we checked in, the front desk clerk was not friendly and seemed like she was mad. I think the deal-breaker came the next morning when I called the front desk (new clerk) and asked if we could have a second packet of coffee for the coffee maker. We woke early and had the one packet they gave us; there was no place open to get coffee. The front desk person said 'sure, come on down.' When I went down there, the guy behind the front desk looked at me angrily and after asking me if he could help me, I asked if I could get a second packet of coffee. He said very gruffly that each packet would cost me two dollars and eight cents. Sheesh: I paid more than $100 for that room and you'd think they could slide me a $2 packet of instant coffee.

Overall, the poor customer service and attitude of the hotel employees, coupled with the dated and worn building and rooms, won't see me back. That said, the room was clean."

"I am not a hard person to please, but this hotel was awful. The town was not the greatest to begin with, but the hotel, the staff, the amenities, cleanliness was very poor.Thank God we were able to book a quick flight out. I would not recommend this hotel. Thanks!"

"We boked a 7 night trip to the Big Island of Hawaii through Bookit.com

Stayed at the Castle Hilo Hawaiian.

The first person at the registration desk we met was a riot. Had us laughing and relaxed before we even checked in.

Our room was a superior, 2 queen beds with balcony, coffee pot, unfortunately no refrigerator. The view on the Banyan tree side was awesome. Had a sneak peak at Hilo Bay. We were right next to Coconut Island and the Japanese Gardens.

The rooms were clean, the staff very efficient and friendly. The lounge in the hotel was great. If you stay your have to try their Furikake Poke Cakes......awesome if you like seared tuna.

We are definetly going to go back again. We loved it and have even looked at a few homes for sale......one only knows."
