"I am not sure where to begin. I will tell you the 2 positive things first. The bed was very comfortable and since we stayed on the 13th floor the view was nice. Other than that I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the room and the staff. We stayed in the State suite which is the largest suite in the hotel. It is listed as the 'Carter Suite' on the door. I am assuming Jimmy Carter stayed there at one point and it seemed as if it had not been remodeled since he was president. The master bath tub had paint peeling off the side and it was about a foot and a half in diameter. The furniture looked like the whole town has had 'relations' on it and there were exposed staples sticking up where the carpet met the tile. We stayed for our anniversary and when I went down to the bar to get some matches to light a candle I was told they didn't have any. I went to the front desk and was told to go to the bar. I told them the bar was out and they called room service. Room service told the front desk attendant that they bar had them and the attendant just shrugged his shoulders. I went back to the bar and was told to go to the store across the street! I walked 2 blocks to the store and they were closed..at 8 PM. Frustrated, I went back to the front desk and told them I couldn't believe what I was having to go through to light a candle on my 10th anniversary. At this point the front desk attendant told me he would have one brought to my room. Why he didn't offer this to begin with is beyond me. Several other things bothered me about the staff's snide smiles and polite sorry's when asked for assistance with things. I never once asked for anything comped or requested anything for free. I don't mind paying for services rendered...I just expect customer service in return. Overall, the city of Savannah is a great destination....just don't stay at this hotel or you WILL be dissapointed."
