We've stayed in Savannah several times. We stayed at the Hilton Desoto because of a neighborhood Priceline Bid. The location is excellent and the service (valet, front desk and coffee shop) was very good. The hotel though, is an upscale hotel that is somewhat dated and drab. Room was fine, bathroom was very small. Shower was nothing more than a trickle but after asking about it, maintenance did come and made it much stronger. There are many, many charming places to stay in Savannah. Desot... Read more

We have stayed at the Desoto five times over the past 20 years .Our first experience was wonderful and welcoming . Comfortable and the most delicious homemade breakfast buffet anywhere . It was $99.00 . We returned three other times in the early 2000 .All was still lovely although the price crept a bit , not unexpected . On our recent trip in May '16 the experience was quite different from the start . I was told that I couldn't book one night as they wanted two night stays and at a very hefty $2... Read more

Great guest services and awesome breakfast. Great location for easy walk to the riverfront. The only thing I didn't like was having to pay for valet parking because it was the only thing available unless you wanted to pay for parking in a parking garage away from the hotel or along the street.

Nice enough historic hotel at the heart of the Savannah historic district. The lobby and rooms are a little bit dated. Everything works, but the faucet was loose in the bathroom and we had to call housekeeping to help drain the bathtub. A nice location within walking distance to the river front and public market but far enough away to be quiet. Safe neighborhood.

We were there for several things from our Son's graduation to my husbands birthday. It was my first visit to Savannah, my husband let me chose the hotel. After staying at the Hilton Desoto for 4 nights and 5 days, all I can say is WOW! The very first great impression was from the Valet, then the bellhop. The front desk gave us a map and went thru it with us, asking what things we'd like to do and see, literally circling areas on the map that were a must see based on our interests. The time sp... Room was clean enough but the common areas like elevators and hallways were dirty and gross (like hairballs and bottle caps) the entire 4 days we were there. Room decor made me feel like I was at Grandma's house. Good central location though. Worst part: Housekeeping gave us some lip about not being able to deliver new towels! Unreal. Room service was so slow on a pot of coffee I had to cancel after 40 min. We won't hurry back.

The Desoto Hilton is a fair hotel. Great location and good for a view if you get city side. Parking is all valet. Rooms are fairly small and noisy. Not much in the way of insulation. Luckily on my visit the families and teenagers mostly left half way through my stay. The hotel has its charms, but the beds have seen a better day. My husband and I were in town to attend a military reunion. The hotel selected was the Savannah Hilton Desoto. From the moment of our arrival, until our departure, the staff did everything to make us feel well cared for and they were friendly and professional. We decided to upgrade our room to a corner suite. It was well worth the extra money, as the views from our room, (912) were simply amazing. The room was large, the bathroom first class, and we found that we hosted our friends in the afte... I recently stayed at the Hilton Savannah Desoto for a night during a trip across the US. I found the staff to exemplify the term "Southern Hospitality" and enjoyed every part of my stay there. Excellent stay, great service, beautiful view from 13th floor with some noise from construction. Good location. We were there for a wedding so we got a goox price, but otherwise a bit pricey. Food was delicious too.

Our room was a bit old so I asked the desk if there were any remodeled rooms and the quickly moved us to the 4th floor. Room was new, clean and very nice. We used the concierge , Susan Allen, and she really made our trip complete. She planned our tours and was extremely helpful. Definitely made our trip worthwhile touring Savannah.

The hotel was very well located, the staff was friendly, and the room had a beautiful view. I have stayed at the hotel many times and would highly recommend it. The in room dining is very good. It is also a very easy walk to most of the restaurants in the down town area.

Hotel us dated and rooms are in need of renovation. Internet was not good. All staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel is under much needed renovations now. Hopefully this will improve the guest experience.

We were never told that the hotel was under total renovation, either in advance or during check in. We were given a room directly below where a jackhammer was operating and the noise plus vibration was unbearable. They were going to move us to a room a couple floors lower, but told by other guests that was also very noisy. We asked for manager who was not particularly apologetic, only saying nothing he could do about it, and would give us another room or move us to another hotel.

This was the first stop on our vacation. The valet was extremely helpful as was the lady at the front desk. When we checked in she said if anything is wrong give us a chance to make it right. When we got in our room we noticed the tub looked unclean. So we called down to the front desk. She sent up someone from house keeping/maintenance. He appeared to be very annoyed we called about the tub. After five minutes he said it was stained and it wasn't coming out. We checked it and the spot was lig... Read more

Stayed here for a night the week before Thanksgiving. Was able to check in when getting there, around noon. Thought the location was great, central to everything you would want to do in Savannah. We stayed in a recently renovated room on the third floor (from what I understand renovations were being done on 8 while we were there), couldn't hear any noise related to it and thought the rooms were very nice looking. Walls were paper thin and I could hear sirens all night so bring earplugs if needed... Read more

We arrived at our hotel a week after Matthew the hurricane hit! We knew Savannah had suffered some damage but fortunately it was minimal as far as our program was concerned, so we were able to check in fairly easily. The hotel is located in the heart of the historic area; everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. Each morning we were treated to a large buffet breakfast, the menu changed daily, and the food was good. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful, I want to menti... Read more

I was not told that there were renovations going on and the bathroom I had contained mold and a shower converted from a bathtub. The toilet ran on and on and it was not seated level so it was awkward. The people were nice.

Stayed here over many years, mainly attracted because staff very professional and upbeat, also great location. Newly renovated rooms (ours was 1001) take away the worn, but very well maintained, rooms in favor for very up to date, modern, elegantly furnished rooms. Colors, photos on wall, upscale furniture and splendid marble and tile work in bathrooms stunning! Lighting needs some work, though, dim single intensity bulbs in three way sockets, unlit coffee nook, no reading lamp on right side of ... Read more

This is a nice hotel in a good location. However there is construction going on and it was very noisy from 8 am to 4pm every day. Also someone from the staff holding a clipboard woke us up one morning. We weren't sure why but believe it was to see if we were still there so they could come in and clean the room.
