This hotel is less than two miles from my reason for being here in the AM and the price was reasonable, so here I am. Mixed reviews had me worried and my room on the fourth floor is not that bad, but not great either. Older and in need of renovation. Permanent stains on desk and dresser tops. Noisy AC. These things did not bother me as much as the fact that the carpet had not been vacuumed ( small bits of debris on floor made this obvious ). Renovation is a corporate call but housekeeping falls ... I mostly liked this Holiday Inn. The courtyard area was beautiful. The room was very nice EXCEPT for the odd film on desk and dresser. My guess? A massive build-up of wax, but it felt very gross and took quite a bit of scrubbing to remove the film from the desk area. Single serve coffee maker in room. Very small refrigerator and a microwave Even though my room was near the stairs and elevators, it was quiet. This is a non-smoking hotel.

I would give it a lower rating if I could. Absolutely rude staff who acted like we were bothering them upon check in. The carpets were filthy, the lounge library area was dusty, the patio area was unkept as were the grounds. We were told that there was no manager on site. The rooms smelled of heavy chemical spray as if trying to cover up other smells. Very noisy halls, outdated fixtures. The ice machine had slimy black mold on it, and when we turned down the bed there was hair on the sheets. Abs... Read more

We were in town for the basketball league last weekend and ended up booking this hotel. "Holiday Inn",we were in our high expectations since this hotel holds a good reputation and brand name. It failed my expectations....check in was not nice.we got there 45 mins earlier before regular c/in time but front desk said room wasn't ready yet. We booked 10 rooms here and none of the rooms is ready???Ridiculous! So end up waiting on the bfast area and have to check with the FD if our room is ready.Fina... Read more

I took my family to Gainesville in April, which was our first time visiting Georgia, and we stayed at this hotel. Everything about the experience was embarrassing. We arrived about 1 1/4 hours past check-in time, yet our room still was not ready. We were told five minutes, but it took more like 15 minutes, and then we were told to expect wet carpets because they had just shampooed them. Sure enough, the carpet in our room was wet. Everywhere in the hotel had a dirty appearance, as though it is n... Read more

We stayed here in May 2016. We arrived at the hotel a little after 9PM. After waiting at the front desk for over 10 minutes, I finally did a walk about and found the night clerk. When my fiancé went back to unload our car, he was approached by a sketchy man asking for money because his car broke down and he needed money for a cab. My fiancé reported it to the front desk and was told they would notify security, but about 20 minutes later, the man was still in the parking lot. About an hour... Read more

We called the hotel at 1am to make a quick reservation. Chris answered and got us exactly what we needed. He was friendly and fast. Our breakfast was excellent. We have visited hotels before where the servers at the breakfast are angry when the food is gone. You are welcomed happily and no one had to ask for anything. The servers were right on it.

This is a gem I just discovered. I stay Gainesville once or twice a year on business. Not sure why I have not been staying here. Little old but love the aviance. The pool and court yard are the best part other than the price. beautiful! This is a full service hotel but still offered a free breakfast that was really good. (some full service HI like Louisville charge more with no breakfast.) One little complaint the carpet seemed a little dirty. I left a note and when I returned that night all cle... Read more

After driving nearly 11 hours (2 stuck in traffic from Atlanta), we were glad we found this hotel. It was nicer than the expensive hotel we stayed in Atlanta. It had a fridge, a microwave and full length mirrors. We couldn't get our Keurig to work, but the free breakfast buffet started at 6 a.m. and that was a pleasant surprise. A pot of coffee, plenty of good food and other beverage choices. We will stay here again next time.

Stayed one night with family members at this aging Holiday Inn conveniently located in the center of town. Desk clerk was shy and seemed unfamiliar with the hotel's computer system. Our room was comfortable and clean, and our request for a ground floor was honored. This property has undergone several changes in franchise over the decades, and shows it. It maintains its hotel bar and restaurant, both with a view of the pool area and pool guests. The on-site restaurant offers a predictabl... Read more

We were at this hotel for one night, we had a king suite overlooking the pool. The bed was crazy comfortable. This hotel is over 27 years years old and well maintained but could use some updating. The furnishings were a bit out dated in the room and the bathtub was stained which gave the impression it wasn't very clean. Overall a great stay and I would recommend the Holiday Inn over other places in the area.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. We booked it last minute this visit. Check in was smooth. The room was a good size. However it was obvious that the room had not cleaned thoroughly. There was paper on the floor and they used plastic wrapped cups & we found wrappings that was left behind from the previous occupants. In the corners if the room there was plenty of dust which explained my runny nose and sneezing. When I went to adjust the AC cobwebs & dust in the corner. The bed... Read more

We came here after spending a night at chateau Elan so this review is difficult but must admit that we came here to the holiday inn as an alternative when chateau Elan was fully booked, good stay, clean, customer friendly and quiet. As a nurse who advocate for patients and staff I'm big on customer service so when a hotel like this one has good front desk staff who are friendly and welcoming, it goes a long way and truly makes a difference.

Was looking for reasonable place to stay. Restaurant was very disappointing; Food quality & cleanliness. Staff acted like they didn't care. Hotel room and restaurant were not clean/hygienic. Expect better standards from a brand name hotel.

Got there after 4pm and room wasn't ready after we realized they gave us a king and we asked for 2 queens. Waited for close to an hour in our parents room which was awful too. Beds uncomfortable, bathrooms not clean, this is one you definitely don't want to put anything on the floor including your feet. Pool is terrible, weeds growing all around the sides of the pool, merky/cloudy water with lots of bugs. My daughter would not even get in. My son got in but we told him not to go under/open his m... Stopped here overnight on the way from Atlanta to the start of the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway in Cherokee. Very nice typical Holiday Inn close to the centre of a very pleasant town. Nice bar for a quick drink and very helpful staff. Easy walk to bars and restaurants around the town square and green. Rooms clean and tidy but getting a bit tired. Otherwise well recommended.

We recently stayed her for a family situation and I will tell you that though the hotel is nice our stay was less than that. Our bathroom toilet never worked and had we not also had family in another room we would have to go to the lobby to use the bathroom. We were promised everyday that this would be taken care of and it wasn't. After a week they finally moved to another room . They did comp our room for the last few nights. I would recommend this hotel and hope that your stay is better than o... Read more

Visited Gainesville for business. Booked a room at the HI as it was convenient to both downtown and the address I was in town for. HI is in the center of town and appears to have been located at this location for several decades. The property is fairly dated and not the cleanest HI that I have had the opportunity to visit. The room was a non-smoking room, but clearly smelled of cigarettes. Not sure it there was a recent smoker in the room or the smell was imbedded due to years of allowing smoki... Read more

I have stayed here before; however, this time we were very disappointed in the condition of our "executive king" room. Broken bath fixtures, trash and pine straw on the carpet, and baseboards that looked as if they had never been dusted. The black desk chair had crumbs and white lint all over it. The bottom bed sheet had not been pulled under the mattress correctly and an uninviting old mattress was visible. Yucky and icky and very creepy best describes this room. Jukizi advertised was really... Read more

The hotel is located perfectly in the heart of Gainesville, Georgia, close to Brenau University and city and county government centers. The staff is congenial and helpful. It has a restaurant and lounge and most of the amenities offered by a full service hotel. It has enjoyed a good run, but the property has become very worn, dirty and dated. The rooms are verging on shabby. Lamp shades in my room were bent, tape sealed some kind of work on the bathroom ceiling. There was no trash can in th... Read more

My wife were traveling to Maggie Valley, NC for the fall changes and stopped here for one night. The hotel has been in Gainesville for some time now but has been kept up nicely. The property boast a bar and full service restaurant along with offering a nice hot breakfast included in the room price; you actually eat off real plates with real silverware. Our room was quiet, clean and very acceptable. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful with questions. We would stay at this prop... Read more

Our first room had stains on the window curtain, peeling paint on the bathroom door and a toilet that didn't flush properly. We decided to buck up and deal with those issues for the 3 nights we were scheduled to stay. But a huge cockroach on the wall on our last night caused us to move 3 doors down. Unfortunately, the new room hosted a large silverfish on the wall and some kind of flying insect on the ceiling. We checked out early the next morning and won't be staying there again!

My son and I stayed at this Holiday Inn on our way from Atlanta to Clemson. We were going to a football game on Saturday, and didn't want to pay "Football Weekend" rates on Friday night (typically double or triple the normal rate). The Gainesville Holiday Inn was perfect. It was just far enough from Clemson that we didn't have to pay an inflated rate, and the hotel had a very comfortable room for us. I wish we could have spent more time there to take in the hotel offerings, but I feel comfortabl... Read more
