This hotel is centrally located in the commercial area with good restaurants nearby. The parking is excellent and at no cost to guests. It is clean and the staff extraordinarily friendly. For parents visiting students at the university, the hotel is perfectly situated and one can walk to just about anywhere including the stadium.

Stayed here for a wedding - same weekend as graduation ceremonies, which probably added to the check-in issues. 3pm check-in was guaranteed. Oddly, they only had "doubles/queens" available - and these were available earlier than 3pm. The guests that reserved a room with a "king" beds had to wait as these were not ready (despite being told the day prior that we could have early check-in, likely "around 1pm". By 3pm there was a LONG line of guests that had reserved rooms with "king" beds wai... Read more

The Hilton Garden Inn is located very close to the center of downtown Athens. If you are visiting Athens and plan to enjoy the shops, restaurant and bars in the downtown area, this is the best place to stay. There are not a lot of amenities here, but what they have is well done. The bar area is small and closes relatively early. The dining area seems to be the place to go if you want to get breakfast at at the hotel. They have a buffet for items that don't require cooking and then have a ful... Read more

We stayed at the Hilton for our anniversary. We used to live in Athens so we know the area very well and wanted to get back in town to see friends and visit our old haunts. The hotel is very conveniently located downtown with a parking deck. Strike one, the deck should be included in a nights stay, cost us an extra $10 when we could park 3 blocks away at a university deck free since it was the weekend. Strike two was also deck related. The only walkway from the deck to the hotel goes through... Read more

And in walking distance to our hotel. The room was clean and the beds are very comfortable. Great location for a Bulldog game!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary night on the town, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was large and comfortable and we had a view of the Classic Center so we could people-watch whenever we weren't part of the action ourselves. The best part of this hotel is its location. Everything a person would want to do downtown is within steps of this place, and it's surprisingly quiet inside despite being so close to so many bars. I would definitely stay here again. This hotel is kept very clean. The lobby is beautiful, it's got a decent restaurant downstairs, and the staff is very friendly. There's a little store behind the front counter with beverages and whatnot. The rooms are comfortable. And the hotel is right downtown. Parking is the only complaint, but it always is with anything downtown.

2nd time stating here for the golfing event at the Georgia Club. The location is fantastic; easy walk to the plethora of great restaurants nearby. Nice bar for a cocktail or 3 is a nice touch and we've had their breakfast buffet on the pervious visit and that too was enjoyable. The staff are extra pleasant and helpful and the grounds, hallways and room itself were in tip top shape. LIKED it!

We stayed at the Hilton Garden for a wedding weekend as did family and friends of 4 other weddings. The staff was so friendly, never got impatient though there were lots of folks to attend to there. Overall, I was not impressed by the comfort level of the room. It was at best comparable to any motel stay and fell under my expectations of many other hotels I have stayed in. The bed was like sleeping on the floor! The refrigerator was making a loud knocking noise. The restaurant overcharged for my wife to eat a continental breakfast amount. She was charged full price for a buffet, which by the way, should be included in the room charge. Most other hotels included a free continental breakfast.

This HGI has it together. Despite being in an extremely busy location due to the University of Georgia, the hotel does not skimp on details. Rooms are clean, beds are very comfy, breakfast was perfectly made to order, and the staff was friendly. You can walk across the street for the convention center or walk less than two blocks to be in the midst of downtown Athens. Perfect.

When I got in the shower, I saw "hair" stuck all over the walls! Hotels aren't known to be sterile places to begin with, but knowing I was in a room that was merely "cosmetically cleaned", and in this case not even an effort to do that, I couldn't sleep the entire night....disgusting!

The staff is super nice here, but the hotel looks exactly like it did the last two times we visited 4 and 2 years ago, but with more wear and tear. This hotel is in a great location in downtown Athens, but the rooms look and feel like they are 30 years old. Hilton needs to renovate this hotel instead of resting on the location. I may look elsewhere next time in town.

This hotel would not be in business but for its location. The rooms smell bad and are coated with spiders. One elevator was broken down for the entire 3 days that we were there. The bar tender leaves a lot to be desired, the pours between customers was amazingly different! Don't know that we will ever go there for an after dinner drink again. The only good thing were the employees at the front desk. If you don't HAVE to be in downtown Athens, stay at the Hampton Inn.

The two biggest pluses here are the staff and location. This puts you within walking distance to a variety of highly rated restaurants and the university campus. The staff was very helpful with recommendations for dinner. The rooms could probably use a slight update if you're concerned with such details; however, very clean.

This is a great location to downtown, you can walk to the University, and all the shops and restaurants! The staff was very nice , especially the bartender who stayed open a little later , as even on a weekend they close at 10pm. There isn't any nightlife here , or a real restaurant , although breakfast is very good but expensive . Some outdoor seating with a bar would have been a welcome touch . Rooms were clean and of good size . Parking was for a fee. There is no pool.

Staff is awesome, very friendly. Someone from maintenance offered to help with my luggage. Somp remembers names/drinks and has your drink on counter as you walk up. He's very personable. New increased parking fee of $30 per night STINKS! It's always been $9.95 and room rates are increased for game weekends already so there is no need to increase parking fee. GO DAWGS!

I came over to Athens to visit my girlfriend and experience the charm and vibrancy of UGA. I wasn't disappointed at all, as we were a short walk from numerous establishments, but had no issues with noise, crowds, or anything like that. Parking was a breeze, and the hotel staff was among the best I've seen for a similar establishment. I'll gladly come back!

Lovely hotel; convenient to the city's attractions; excellent staff. Everyone was welcoming and attentive from the minute we walked in the door. Check-in was easy and so was check-out. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. Excellent breakfasts with omelets made to order. Overall, a great experience.

Setting - The downtown Hilton Gardens in Athens, GA is a very nice hotel. It is located literally across the street from Athen's marvelous Convention Center. The hotel is right in the middle of every sort of dining area you can imagine. I never had to move my car from the parking deck while staying there four nights. There are also many unique shopping stores nearby and if you like the bar scene, you are in business. The University is a couple of blocks over. Staff - The hotel's staff is obviou... Read more

The hotel is a typical Hilton Garden Inn with its best appeal being its location. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city; very close to restaurants, cafes, and bars. It has parking in the back as well. The rooms are big and comfortable with typical American decor. It has a bar and restaurant in the lobby but I didn't use it. The fitness center is very small with only 2 treadmills and some other cardio machines. Good place for a short stay.

The service was superb prior to arriving, during the duration and the check out out process. The breakfast was excellent and more that enough food shared. One of the workers conversed with me on the profession I was able to share information as well as him. I love the name badges that share the activities

The hotel was very nice and the location was excellent. The breakfast selection was good and the bar stayed open late so we could enjoy the late football games on the television. Valet would be nice to have available.

We were in town for a georgia home game and decided to stay at the hilton garden inn. We were very pleased with our choice. It was great being down town and being able to walk places for breakfast and dinner. It was also close to the stadium so we didn't have far to walk. We also decided to tailgate in the parking lot of the hotel which was very convenient. After the game we came inside for a small gathering around the fireplace. Staff was very pleasant i would highly recommend this hotel.

Prime location. Needs some major updating in the rooms, especially for the price during football season. Loved the bar tender. Food menu could use more of options for appetizer/bar foods. Great location. Close to all the downtown Athens bars and resturants.

I stayed here for a business appointment near Athens. The hotel is right downtown and many restaurants close by. I was able to check in and had a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. I walked to a pus and enjoyed a local beer and food. The room was comfortable and the hotel was located very well. Parking was $9.99 per day. So, be prepared for that.

Spent the night here after a UGA game. Good food in the afternoon, bartender was very attentive and made delicious drinks. Comfortable seating in bar area with a couple of TVs to watch the other games. Room was clean, if a little warm. Cut the A/C down as far as it would go but it never really got cold in the room. Our room was next to elevators, but we never heard them through the walls. Breakfast was included in our cost and was very good, with made-to-order omelettes, hot and cold buffet, and... Read more

Clean hotel, friendly staff, quiet room, and conveniently located for anything on the UGA campus. We stayed here for a Georgia vs Georgia Tech game (Go Jackets!) due to close proximity to the stadium and were glad we did.
