Stayed for an anniversary weekend. Lunch at Alfresco, dinner at Marchand's. Saturday morning by the pool and relaxing in a rocker on the verandah. Great for people watching. Luxurious, but fun. So close to the park and everything that's going on on Beach Drive.

Let me start this review with the caveat that as a business traveler, I did not get to experience any of the amenities this hotel offers. The tennis, golf, fitness and spa may be amazing. It is a beautiful hotel and when I first pulled up, the valet was very nice and the front desk staff very helpful. They upgraded me to a room with a balcony and bay view which was beautiful. The downsides are mostly about cleanliness. I was on the fifth floor of the Guest Tower. When I arrived, there was a cup... Read more

This is one of my favorite places to stay when visiting the Tampa area. It is a beautiful hotel and service is great! There is a restraunt located inside that has a great breakfast buffet and dinner as well. It has a beautiful view of the the water. In just a quaint little area.

We were impressed with the Valet service being how very busy it was. Service desk was very courteous upon arrival. The rooms are gorgeous, must be 1,000 thread count sheets! Did not have a pleasant view, but that was alright. Our company event went off without a hitch. The steak for dinner was just so-so, it seemed steamed rather than grilled. The rest of the food was very good, shrimp, grits with goat cheese, and a lovely salad. Visit was too short, but I'd love to go back.

Stayed at the Vinoy for one night, a quick getaway. The property is classic and elegant. Location excellent, within walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. The front desk staff was efficient and extremely friendly. Did not have the opportunity to use any of the amenities. I was upgraded to a tower room with a balcony. The room itself was spacious and updated. Now to the reasons I could not give the Vinoy 5 stars. In the morning I ordered room service for breakfast, the order arrive... Read more

After ten years of visiting St. Pete two or three times a year, and staying at other hotels on occasion (either due to bringing the dogs, or last-minute trip and no rooms available at Vinoy), the Vinoy is our favorite. The service is the best, no matter where you are - the front Verandah, housekeeping, or the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the hotel is relaxed (as it is near the beach) but quietly elegant. The views of bay are outstanding, the location is the best - out the front ... Read more

This was the first time that we have stayed at the Vinoy and we really enjoyed it. Great location in downtown St. Pete. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Also, have great walking paths along the bay for people that like to walk. We had three rooms since there were 6 of us. Our rooms were in the original building which was convenient for the lobby and restaurant. Rooms were good size we had a king and the rooms with two queens were quite large. The resort is pretty ... What a great place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I commented on the lovely signature scent in the hotel and how much I loved it. When we went up to the room to change, there was a beautiful, handwritten note from the front desk agent, Katherine and a candle with the signature scent. We were touched by the thoughtfulness.

We went to the Vinoy for my wife's birthday and I was very impressed. The rooms are incredibly spacious and the beds incredibly soft practically begging you to fall to sleep. All of the staff was extremely courteous and nice but I must highlight JoAnne the Navigator. She pointed out several historical tidbits about the hotel highlighting items we wouldn't have noticed or paid attention to otherwise. A great historical place to stay.

We stayed on our boat at the Vinoy Marina for Memorial Weekend. Due to the holiday weekend, the resort was almost at maximum capacity. Nevertheless, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive both at the marina and inside the resort, despite being extremely busy in the sweltering heat. The hotel is gorgeous- lots of history and old-Florida charm. The pool on the second level is very nice, we had no problem finding lounge chairs in the sun and enjoyed a few pina coladas. There was a slight snafu with my reservation which was promptly addressed upon my arrival. The room was on the nice side of moderate and the bedding was as expected at a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel. I would recommend taking the time to walk around the halls and read the history of the hotel; the revival story garners some attention. The hotel is in the National Hotel Historic Treasury. The staff was great and if you stay during Baseball Season you might get lucky enough to see some Major Leaguers who are in town to play the Rays. the History, architecture and art are such that you can't help but feel like you have stepped back to the roaring 20's. if you are a Dale Chihuly fan like myself, there are pieces scattered throughout the property.

I loved this hotel it was very nice and the staff was all about service. It is an old hotel that has been restored so the elevators and rooms are smaller than some newer hotels. The resort is beautiful, a vestige of the golden age of glamorous hotel resorts that have largely disappeared. Unfortunately, everything is extra. Internet? Extra. Breakfast? Extra. And we sat down at the Sunday brunch, only to find out the cost was $45 PER PERSON. Sorry, but I don't care how delicious your omelets are, they're not worth that much. Next time we'll stay at the hotel near the highway where they know how to treat their guests. Oh, and they'll charge half as much for the room!

When you first walk into the great room that is Marchand's Restaurant and Bar at the historic Vinoy hotel you are unfortunately illuminated by lighting that is more suitable for a convenience store! A trendy downtown has grown up all one one side of the Vinoy and you have the bay and parks right there as well. Sail exercise or dine within a block from the hotel. Also within blocks are the Chahully Glass Museum Art Museum and the Dali Museum. The hotel has a very well appointed gym and a spa. This place is SO COOL! A last minute business trip with no hotel reserved, my local teammate HIGHLY recommended this spot. Massive props to the recommendation. The history of this landmark is completely priceless. There are a lot of local hotels options. I will choose the Vinoy every time. ONE SUGGESTION...okay TWO. 1. 2nd Floor Patio. There is a massive patio on the second floor overlooking the lobby. Throw some rocking chairs up there with a portable bar or even a cocktail waitress and pipe... Read more

Have stayed there several times. The old part of the hotel is beautifully restored. The lobby and Marchand's dining room are places of beauty and peace. Sit in a rocker on the veranda and sip a drink as the light fades. The rooms in the old part have a lot of charm. The rooms in the new part are attractive and modern. If you get a bay view room that adds to the experience. The food in Marchand's restaurant was good and the Alfresco was a good place to have lunch. There is also the... Read more

Stayed for a weekend at the Vinoy as a quick break from the norm. And to my surprise, I felt like I was on a little vacation. Its a good size hotel, that has some fun amenities. There is a tennis court, really nice gym, spinning classes, a spa, great swimming pool area with a little waterfall, and a great front sitting area with a bar. So, it really does a bunch of outdoor seating so you can just relax or enjoy a cocktail outside on a nice evening. The rooms are decent sized, but the bathro... Read more

The Vinoy is a resort hotel in the heart of St Pete right by the water. This means you are not trapped on the grounds. walk out the door and you have museums and restaurants and shops to walk to The golf course is elsewhere. You walk into a great lobby with couches everywhere so you can visit with friends easily. The lobby bar is welcoming. A short walk off the lobby is there excellent restaurant. The pool and the cafe with indoor and outdoor seating are excellent. We stayed in the tower which ... Read more

I absolutely love this place. Second time visiting. Both times we stayed in the historic building. Rooms are good: Comfortable bed, large enough room, double sink bathroom. Additionally the housekeeping service was always punctual. We would go for walks in the morning and the room would be done by the time we got back. The pool is large and very nice. Pool service is good. Food menu at the pool is good. There is a DJ at the pool on Saturdays. We ate at all the restaurants and liked them all. Thi... Read more

Spent a wonderful weekend here right across from the St Petersburg Bay. Lovely hotel with great restaurants and a wonderful relaxing pool. Walking distance to the city Art Museum, the docks, and all the downtown action. Staff were very attentive and helpful.

This hotel has outstanding service. It is beautiful and right in the heart of st.pete- a charming area. You can see the docks and has many fine resturants. The pool is really cool too. It has a waterfall that comes down on top of you.

Early dinner with a view. Who would think you could dine in a fine upscale restaurant in a beautiful, historic resort hotel for $19.95 per person. The food was wonderful, the view of the waterfront spectacular and the service exquisite. Try Marchands and you will return again and again.

St. Petersburg, Florida, is home to two of the most luxurious and elegant and historic hotels in the country, Loews Don CeSar on St. Petersburg Beach and the Vinoy Renaissance Resort and Golf Club on Tampa Bay in downtown St. Petersburg. Both were built in the 1920s, both have played host to celebrities from Babe Ruth to Walter Hagen to James Stewart to Calvin Coolidge to Herbert Hoover to Marilyn Monroe to Joe DiMaggio to Harrison Ford to Paul Newman. And both are painted in a pink color that m... Read more

Hotel was fantastic. Staff were friendly and most helpful. Lost our house keys outside. Didn't realize until we got home. Called the next day and they were located at the valet stand. Lost and found fedx'd them to us, at no charge. We were so appreciative. Very helpful recommending restaurants around town. Always offered us bottled water when leaving hotel for walks, etc.

Just got home from our anniversary celebration which always include a stay at the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort. The hotel has ALWAYS been a special part of a trip we take in September. This year we were both disappointed. Certainly not in the service. Service is fabulous, outstanding. The hotel is getting a little old and run-down. Also terribly cold in the hallways and restaurant. Don't think we will come back.

When we went to check in our room was not ready and so they offered room # 849. However, they said it was quirky, so we went to check it out. It is only one of two rooms with its own entrance and 180 degrees private balcony. It does require walking up a very narrow flight of steps, but it is extra extra quiet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also if on a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to check out Fred's Cellar, you will need a code to enter

Chelsea helped us again with a beautiful room. Then Bobby remembered me from my last stay and bought all the bags to our room. Then Chris and Craig were good getting our car. But Stevenson was really funny with all his jokes. Of course I Love you big bar after dinner and the show.

Beautiful. The restoration is gorgeous and majestic. Walking through his halls and having a drink in the outdoors enjoying the comfortable rocking chairs brought me back to 1925. The 400 Seafood restaurant near is the best.

We visited for one night in September 2016 as we made our way around the gulf coast of Florida. We stayed in a different higher end hotel every night from Clearwater to Sarasota. We choose the Vinoy over the Don Cesar for several reasons...rooms are bigger and the St. Pete area has so much to see and do within walking distance. The service at the Vinoy was excellent!! We also played a round of golf at their course and it was very nice and challenging. We did breakfast at the restaurant and ... Read more
