We enjoyed our stay in this historic hotel this past Monday. Our room was small and simple and offered the basic essentials. The one thing that I will praise over and over was how clean our room was. The room eas as clean as I would clean my own home, right down to the window sills and removable AC filter. I always check the AC filter since I have bad dust allergies. The towels were folded to look like a seashell which added a nice touch to the decor of the bathroom. The view from the 6th ... Read more

I've recently returned home from a long Florida vacation with my boyfriend, and we visited as many beach towns as we could. Although, there wasn't a beach nearby, this was in a quaint downtown area. We were able to park our car for the night and walk to bars and restaurants. The hotel room was small, but it was cool. We had a really good time. We especially enjoyed the shower. There was a concert venue nearby, and although we didn't buy tickets and go to the concert, we were able to sit on a ben... Read more

This is a great place to stay and wander around St. Petersburg. It reminded me of being in Europe. You can walk everywhere. The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean, CLEAN, while the baths are small. The renovation has keep the ambiance of the days of yore. It is "bare bones", but what you need is there, including a great "on site" restaurant. It is my thought, that if you are going to stay in your hotel all the time while visiting a city, then you want luxury. If you are just going to sle... Read more

I travel often. I've stayed in "boutique" hotels all across the country. This hotel is not a boutique hotel - it's just old. Old rooms, old, questionably clean bathrooms, and old windows and AC units. Couple that with the construction noise (that seems almost constant) and this hotel gets a thumbs down for me. The only plus is the location. I was able to easily walk to nice bars and restaurants because I absolutely didn't want to be in my room.

A friend and I booked this hotel for one night for my birthday weekend. I understand that this is an old building, but it's obvious they just slapped a new paint job on the walls and made some minor updates. This building needs work. There was a musty, moldy smell throughout the whole place. When we got into our room, the door wasn't even shut all the way. I was able to push it open without using my key card. There are wood floors, and I noticed they hadn't been vacuumed/swept very well as there ... Read more

Love the location, classic bar with wonderful sangria and tapas but.....the rooms and service were a challege. This is our second stay. Tiny room with coffee but no available plugin, so we had to make coffee on the floor. The maid never unplugged, or refilled and we discover the pot was still on 24 hrs later. The bathroom was tiny, with hair dryer so close to totally humid outlet ( no fan), my wife was afraid to use it. Otherwise good value, but we would shop around before staying again. I must ... Original place with average over priced menu for average taste food and sangria/wine. Male waiter had brought 1 out of 4 wrong order and forgotten the right one. Ceviche tuna was small but fresh and with 4 salad meals and 2 pints of sangria bill has been $ 125 without the tip. Location is nice as well as terrace and interior.

We stayed in this hotel just one night, thank goodness! Fantastic location but call it "hotel" is really an exaggeration. Very small room. I had requested a crib for my daughter at the time of booking but on our arrival in the room there wasn't . The bathtub faucet dripping and we found the bathroom flooded on our return after the evening. The mini refrigerator was not working and I had to throw way in the morning all the babyfood and my daughter's milk (11 months old). Ponce is an older hotel that has been updated so it is going to have many of the downsides that an older place can have;especially small rooms and few glitches. However, one is going to have to pay a whole lot more in downtown St Pete to get much of an upgrade. The place compares very favorably to the Indigo (old hotel made funky new) and has a bit better location albeit without a pond sized pool. I will not hesitate to stay here again as it is among the best bargains for a cute place in town.

The hotel advertised a room for two with separate sleeping quarters and what we got was a large room with a trundle bed that pulled out of the wall. The bed would not stay on the ground without placing objects on it to weigh it down. The shower did not have hot water and the bathtub leaked. The A/C units were not upkept. Disappointed in the room completely. There was one tiny elevator that had a long wait. Reminded me of a small European hotel. The staff were nice, but did not speak Engli... Read more

I have stayed at the Ponce de Leon several times, the location is unsurpassable and the rates are the lowest for the area. I have had really small rooms (one bathroom was so small, the sink was in the bedroom) and larger rooms; rooms without a view and a room with an amazing East view that left me breathless in the morning. Unfortunately this time there was nothing good about the room I got. The noise was unbearable, I could hear the chairs being dragged on the sidewalk tables of the the restaur... Read more

This was our first stay at the Ponce De Leon Hotel. We went based on recommendations from good friends. We were pleased with the room. This is an old building, but that is part of the charm. The room was clean, comfortable and a great value for the location. The parking is a bit confusing. The front desk told us about nearby garage parking, but gave vague directions. We drove around looking for where she had pointed, and ended up parking a block further away. We found the garage she was referrin... Read more

This was the perfect place for a sultry boudoir shoot. The updated, modern decor lent it hands to making the shoot great! Easy access to everything downtown and LOVED that the windows opened - you don't get that anymore. The Art Deco character is still present amongst the updates. Just great atmosphere and location.

We stayed here two nights this past weekend for a concert and were very happy with our room. We were on the third floor so we never needed to take the elevator. The room was like a tiny studio apartment, and when we entered they had just finished cleaning it so the hardwood floors were freshly mopped. It was very clean, unlike some of the prior reviews I have read. I was worried it would be humid or warm being that it's older, but our room was freezing by evening, it was amazing. Nice place, very small, not for a long stay. We were here for 4 days. It would be a nice weekender. Close to marina, several dining & drinking establishment choices nearby, within walking distance. Very nostalgic. Restaurant located within/ attached to hotel is very good. Can be an expensive area. Nice park nearby. Parking is scarce, there is a parking garage caddy cornered from hotel, get the multi day pass, it's worth it.

We have stayed at this property before and loved it, but now the construction right next door that will be going on for two years the front desk person told us is very disruptive. We arrived around 4:30 pm and thankfully had plans off site for the entire night so we did not have to deal with it but for 10 minutes as we changed clothes. The hotel is in a great location, on Central avenue where you have so many different bars, restaurants, and little shops to visit. Publix is within walking distance, though you have to pay $10 a day for parking at the parking garage across the street. We spent everyday walk to the parks in the harbor front, It seems all the places are within walking distance, if not, you can always take a city trolley.
