Stopped here to relax a bit after a long day of driving and before going on to Orlando. We loved this hotel. Beautifully decorated. Friendly, fast service. Close to the beautiful beach! Close to many restaurants. Our room was spacious and beautiful! The bed was very comfortable too! A very nice choice for the evening.

First time in St. Augustine and we had such a great time! The hotel was spotless and had a view to the ocean from our balcony. Loved the idea of the hot tub in the room but we never got around to using it...if we want another beach stay in st. Augustine we will definitely think of Castillo real although next time I think we will try a B and B in the city. We definitely recommend!

The rooms at Castillo Real are Clean & Well Kept. We went in two pairs of Families with children. Kids enjoyed the pool which was nice and clean. There is a jacuzzi. They have a sound system outside which plays some good background music. Beach is short fun walk behind the hotel. Kids loved playing on the beach and washing off outside the hotel under a convenient little shower.

I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor. I am so glad I stuck with the plan to stay at the Castillo Real! The young woman at the check in desk was very friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions and got us checked in very quickly. We then went up to our room and it was just beautiful! Everything looked practically brand new. We saw none of the issues others have posted. It was just beautiful. We had a view of the road but that did not matter w... Read more

Definitely coming back here! Right near the beach, great pool. Excellent rooms and a five star restaurant below. We found this on trip advisor while on the road heading back from a business trip in the mountains. From mountains to the beach. Rooms with a view of the beach, huge king size beds, clean and a bonus was the jacuzzi in the room! Thank you Castillo Real!

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday had a wonderful experience! The hotel is right by the beach and so many great local restaurants all just a short walk away! Our hotel service was by far the best we've encountered with us being frequent travelers! Even though we left the "do not disturb" sign up, they always had fresh towels and things next to our door! You have to check out Mangoes Mangoes and Café 11! They have great food and café 11 has interesting beers, if you're into that kin... Read more

We stayed here the other day. It was great except for being awoken at 11:40 pm & asked to move my car! Don't park in the spot on the side of the building with the two manhole covers on the ground because I had to move as some workers needed access to these. The hotel was clean & quiet. Workers were friendly. The elevator is hot and somewhat slow, so sometimes we took the stairs. It's proximity to the gorgeous beach cannot be beat! Make sure you visit the beach! We stayed for one night as a romantic getaway. When you walk in, the decor has a very old, Spanish feel. We thought it was lovely. Our room was a partial-ocean view located on the third floor. Our king bed suite included a whirlpool tub, shower, lighted vanity area, wardrobe cabinet, desk, bench and balcony. Our room was very clean except we noticed hair on the top of the drain in the shower and a couple of single hairs on the rear wall of the shower. Our room had a binder with local restau... Read more

OK, we have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last four years. My extended family lives at the beach, and my parents are in St Augustine. I'm thinking with Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, new babies, birthday parties and reunions of my fathers many sisters, I have stayed here more than 99% of the population. I have written multiple glowing reviews. BUT this time I used a 3rd party booking since the hotel only had king size rooms, and we needed 2 queens f... Read more

Arrived here at 1pm but couldn't check in until 4pm. We were given room 103. When we opened the door we could smell bleach and assumed that the room must have only just been cleaned. However we think it was to disguise the foul smell that seemed to emanate from the shower drain. We tried covering it with a rubber shower mat which helped but we could still smell it. With hindsight we should have asked to be moved but we had unpacked and the thought of moving everything when we were only there... Read more

Dirty shower sink and toilet. Tiles are moldy. Horribly uncomfortable bed. Pillows were the size of throw pillows and there were only three. Hallways and elevator were hot. Coffee pot was rusty. If this were an $80 hotel I could deal with it but I paid 140 through Hotwire, complete ripoff and very disappointing.

We just returned from our fourth and LAST stay at this luxury hotel. It's really too bad, because the hotel has some nice amenities. It is close to the beach, most of the staff is very nice, and the beds are comfortable. But while there, my husband bled on one of the chairs due to a medical condition. Rather than leave it and say nothing, he was up front about the situation and reported it to the front desk, offering to pay any cleaning charge. The manager consulted the owners, and without ... We booked this room through Priceline at a reasonable rate. We arrived, were checked in quickly, and went straight to our room. I have not one complaint about the room. It was clean, well kept, and comfortable. The shower pressure was good, TV and WiFi were good. Loved the pool and the short walk to a very clean and convenient section of the beach. I loved the ambiance of the hotel and the fact that it had a personality as opposed to many of the chains we usually stay in. I see that the hotel h... Read more

My family and I stayed at this hotel 5 nights. We were on the 4th floor across from the elevator. I was worried the noise from the elevator would keep us awake at night but not once did we hear it. We had a view of the ocean (looking between buildings). We used the pool daily, while it is small it was never crowded. Great hotel, we will stay here again.

My wife and I had stayed at the hotel across the street several times and the experience was horrible to say the least. We decided to give the Castillo Real a try. The price is higher than what we are used to but we thought if it checked most of the boxes, it would be worth it. We arrived before check in and asked if we could be contacted when our room was available. Castillo Real is a very nice hotel just a short walk from the beach. Lovely room is just the right size, nice staff, great pool. There is a restaurant on site but it seemed a bit pricey and there's plenty of other choices in walking distance. Check out Cafe 11 just across the street for happy hour with great prices!

Having just arrived from a Mediterranean Hotel a few days ago, I walked into the lobby of the Castillo Real and felt transported back there. The attention to detail in the picturesque entrance is also used in the beautiful rooms. The pool feels very private and the beach is about 100 yards away. In-house restaurant is very convenient and free shuttle to the historic district is stress free. The staff are eager to please. We had an excellent stay.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and my husband enjoyed his breakfast in their restaurant. It didn't really feel like a resort, however, I would stay there again. The pool is nice but small and there is no direct beach access but there is a nearby entrance only a short walk away.

If you're visiting St. Augustine this is a great place to stay. It is about 6 miles from downtown on Anastasia Island. And only 500 feet away from the beach. Lovely hotel with nice comfortable beds, linens, towels and robes. Excellent parking, Great AC too! There is always coffee in the lobby. And the pool area is wonderful. It is sunny during the peak daylight hours, then shaddy in the late afternoon when it is hottest. They also use a water chiller to keep the water coming off the "mushroom... Read more

I took a chance last year by booking this hotel online, knowing nothing about it, and boy was I glad. I've been back a couple of times since. It's my definite go-to when staying in St. Augustine. This hotel is clean. The employees are friendly. They are home to an excellent restaurant, La Cocina. The rooms are roomy, pun intended. It is safe and secure and classy. I love it!

We stayed 4 nights. Excellent location just off the beach and they have pick up for the trolley beach bus (not free but you can get tickets at the hotel) to take you into town. The only minor issue was that our room stayed on the warmer side, but it was just a little issue for us.

We stayed two nights had a group of nine. The hotel had a pool , nice location to the beach. We walked to dinner, plenty of great places to eat. This is a nice hotel, which had great reviews. It is hard to write this review, because nothing was really wrong,,,, it was clean and had nice furnishings and stuff. The pool was clean, but on the small side. But I have to say, I was a tad disappointed overall. I guess I like a "beachier" feel when going to the ocean. This hotel is NOT oceanfront, or even oceanview. It is just a short walk to the beach, but you can only see it from a few limited-view rooms. Also, the restaurant on site is... Read more

The room we stayed in was huge quiet and had a welcomed refrigerator . Great location and staff was pleasant. Although not on the beach it was a quick flipflop to the ocean . I did not eat in restaurant but it looked good and front desk offered a 8$ voucher for breakfast which in hindsight was probably better than the buffet across the street .(dingy) I will be back to this upscale hotel.

Having been traveling for a couple of long days it was nice to breeze in to this really nice establishment with their quirky artwork all over and Spanish Deco thing happening and after our previous night in a thinly walled Holiday Inn Express in West Va where people argued from our arrival at 2am and a kid ran around in the suite above from 5am it was indeed a welcome, quiet respite that had 2 comfy queens and enough space for our baby pack N play. Nice rooms and comfortable beds. I enjoyed the large shower. the room and the pool area were kept clean. The only complaint I have was that they did not get the coffee (fresh) ready until later in the morning. there were nice restaurants close by. We had to drive to old downtown but we wanted to be near the beach so it is a trade off when you stay in St. Augustine.
