First time to Sanibel and Sundial Beach Resort & Spa was fantastic. The Condo out did itself. We spent three nights there and all the staff made us feel at home. With the beach so close we skipped the pools and stayed in the ocean. Not real close to restaurants but the island is great to explore. As a guest we had beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels whenever we needed. If we could change one thing the master bed could use upgraded.

My husband and I went in May for vacation for 5 days. We had some issues with the resort.I gave it an average rating (instead of poor) b/c every single employee we came across was super friendly and nice. I don't expect perfection but with the issues we had, it was helpful that all employees were very nice and tried to be helpful. Issue one-housekeeping forgot to leave us new towels one day and the next day they didn't even come so we had no towels. When I spoke to front desk the issue was reso... Read more

This was out first (but not last) trip to Sanibel and the Sundial Resort! We absolutely loved it! Our two bedroom condo was beautiful and spacious with a view of the ocean. The beach was great and not crowded. The food at the restaurants was awesome, we visited all of them! Just a couple things that could use improvement...1. The restaurants were very very expensive, don't get me wrong we don't mind paying for good things. food was great but the service could use a little improvement. I really d... Read more

We had a great vacation at Sundial. Special shout out to servers Christine and Tyleigh! in the restaurants and Mike at the poolside bar. Top notch service! We'll be back. We had a wonderful and relaxing time. Room setup was great though bathroom was a little cramped. Rooms weren't cookie cutter either. We sent with friends and had 4 separate rooms. Each was set up slightly different than the others!

We stayed at the Sundial Beach Resort for just under a week. When you arrive, you receive cards to charge things to your room, towel cards as well. When we got to our room, our A/C unit had blown in the unit, but it was quickly resolved by Rita, who was fantastic, and by Gene in maintenance. They gave us an even better room for the same rate, AND refunded us $100. This was our first visit to Sanibel, so we just went exploring. We visited with friends here for a day. The Ammenities are nice, however everywhere you turn there are signs telling u all the things you can't do or have. It was like being stuck in a retirement home. I would not waste the money they ask for to be told how to enjoy my vacation. It's not kid friendly.

Stayed at the Sundial Resort for three days. I don't think we could of had a better stay. The beach was just lovely, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. We did the "Made in the Shade" deal where we got a free cabana for one day (if used at the pool), we decided to have the cabana on the beach (up charge of $50), but well worth it. They supplied a very nice size cabana (fit three lounge chairs and a small table) also included was a cooler w/waters and snacks. Our room/condo was a 2/2 it was v... Read more

Good review overall. We enjoyed the convienence of amenities: biking, beach umbrellas with your basic loungers, and the beautiful well kept grounds. However there are some things we will consider before booking here again. Master bedroom did not lock, and the main pool was clean but not refreshingly cool, it was uncomfortably warm. On a more minor note the kitchen was in desperate need of an update and repair. Dishwasher did not clean dishes even though dishes were pre-rinsed, stove burners... Read more

We stayed in a one bedroom unit for 2 nights. Based on other reviews I have read, and the fact I specifically requested an updated unit, we had a much better room than what others have noted. However, it wasn't nearly as nice as the photos on the website and the mattress was hard. Still, we got a great deal so the value was still good. A few more utensils in the kitchen wouldn't hurt! We took advantage of the bikes and kayaks included with the resort fee. My kayak was broken and no one was on... Read more

The staff was very helpful and the view was as promised. Benefits were good- free kayaks, paddleboards, and bikes, but they get reserved quickly. We had one dinner at the restaurant and one we paid for a dinner on the beach and both experiences were excellent. The room itself was a bit in disrepair and the elevators are tiny and sketchy. We tried the breakfast buffet and it was definitely not worth the money. It was basically a continental breakfast that you get for free at a highway hotel and w... Read more

I love to travel and therefore rarely return to the same place. However, my family and I have now been to Sanibel Island three years in a row. We have returned to the Sundial Beach Resort each time because of the great amenities. Each year we find something new. My daughter particularly likes the Sanibel Sea School and the Slice of Paradise. I love the forced relaxation and searching for shells. My husband enjoys an afternoon nap poolside under the fans. We checked into the resort the week after a major storm has passed. We were disappointed to find that the normally blue/green water was a murky brown. We were told that after storms or during the rainy season the County releases the water from Lake Ockechobee into the river which in turn runs into the ocean. It seems to be an ongoing problem the the lower gulf side of the island. It was much better by the end of the week, but still not the quality of the water on Captiva. Our room was ni... Read more

This is a condo complex that acts like a 5 star resort. They pull it off. The units are spacious and comfortable. The beach is just a short walk (and I mean a short walk). The guys at the Tiki bar mix great drinks and the food is tasty. The check in was quick, even though, our unit was not ready we were able enjoy the resort while we waited. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and our first trip to Sanibel. We made a great choice. We will be back.

Several missed opportunities during this visit. The only department that seemed to be hospitable was the activities department, Sammy & Walter were always helpful. As much time families spend doing activities, the resort might want to think about budgeting more $ for equipment. Shouldn't be arguements over who us getting what due to shortages amongst guests. There was lots to do for both the little ones and teens- kayaks, pool slide, activities. We ate at 2 of the resort restaurants (Shima and Turtles) and our food was delicious. One thing that really stood out here was that the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

From making my reservation to check out, everything was perfection! The service, food, and amenities are out of this world. We stayed on what the called a partial gulf view. It was more than partial view. We could see the gulf no problem. Not directly but it was great. Marina at the front was just a gem. super nice, was all over our stay and even came to see us at breakfast to ask us how was our experience the night before at Shima. Shima and breakfast where both great. Love Denni at the sushi ... Read more

We recently celebrated my daughter's wedding at the Resort with a beach wedding and reception. Due to unforeseen circumstances our previous wedding planner was MIA and we had to pull together a wedding in 2 days. The staff was phenomenal, the event planner, Tiffany, was not only understanding and accommodating, but was very helpful in staying within our budget, offering suggestions, etc. Not only was the wedding better than the original plan, but it was affordable. Kudos to Tiffany and the staff... Read more

My wife, infant and myself came for an anniversary/birthday stay for the weekend and we could not have had a better time. I want to thank Shirley Joseph at the front desk for being so kind and accommodating. We travel extensively and Ithink I expect more than most. Michelle Davis made our stay out of this world with details i did not expect. The condo was top shelf as was the rest of the amenities. Check out the Hibachi restaurant in the main building. We stayed here with several families. Our units were clean and had plenty of room for the whole gang. The staff was very courteous including the front desk and activities staff. There were plenty of activities for the kids and the seniors enjoyed the beach chairs and umbrellas- it was nice not to have to lug our own down to the beach. We ate at the tiki bar restaurant and the Japanese Steakhouse ( where we had dined before) and both were great. The kids even got to go up to the hibachi and ... Read more

We had a great time!! The resort was perfect for a family with 2 little kids. The location right on the beach was great and the pool area was very enjoyable. It was perfect to have a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. We didn't have to leave for breakfast and even cooked dinner at night. It was very comfortable and we all enjoyed it.

About forty of our extended family gathered to celebrate a 100th birthday. The suites were all well maintained. The wee all clean and the kitchens stocked with all the essentials. We spent most afternoons at the Tiki Bar where the drinks and the pizzas were great. We had a catered afternoon buffet for a birthday celebration and all the selections were great. It was a great time.

Excellent location along the beach, very quiet, good sport facilities, helpful staff. Renting bikes or kayaks was fun, but I would prefer to rent my bike for the whole stay and not having to return it by 5:30 p.m. every evening. The family suite with two bedrooms was excellent and satisfied our needs as a family completely.

Have always loved the Sundial in the past 15-20 years we have gone there. We have taken all five of our children there several times. And we have taken our grandchildren there as well in the last three years. This was the worst room we have ever experienced just because of the comfort and no balcony.

We enjoyed the Sundial Resort. The location is easy to find for first time visitors to the island. There is a resort fee, which we felt was nicely offset by the free use then of their bicycles, which were in good shape, and the full breakfast included with the price of the room we chose. There are also kayaks included in this fee, however we chose to rent kayaks at JD Darling Refuge on Tarpon Bay instead. Tremendous value, wonderful atmosphere, terrific people all around. Our dear friend, Marina, is all over the place making sure things are running smoothly. Phillip Sterling, the GM, and his assistant, Julio Morales, have done so much to upgrade the Sundial over the years. Tremendous service. If you have a Housekeeping problem, simply call Kevin, the manager of that dept. Too many people to mention, but we are friendly with so many of the staff.
