We have been visiting Sanibel Island, Florida for the last 20 years. We found the Song of the Sea years ago and have been going back every year since. Location is great as you are just a view steps away from the beach. Bike rental, breakfast and beach chairs and umbrellas are included with price. I would never go during peak season as the rates are very high and the rooms just don't measure up to price. I am hopeful that some upgrades will be made soon. Flooring needs to be deep cleaned to... What an experience! We are many times visited in Sanibel, but always stays on Fort Myers, because hotels prices are much lower. This time we came to island and it was fantastic experience. Song of the sea is easy to found. The rooms are not value of the money, but the resort is. Breakfast was very good with fresh berries etc. Beach is wonderful and it's next to hotel. From next hotel (Sanibel Inn) you can rent for free paddleboards, tennis rackets etc. Pool area is really nice and it was gre... Read more

Positives: Let me first start off by saying that the grounds are very well kept. The location of the hotel is great. The beach is great, and the pool is very nice. They do provide free bikes, kayaks and paddle boards to use which is also nice. The free breakfast is good....simple, yet sufficient. The staff was nice as well. Negatives: The rooms are outdated, not very clean, and not worth the money spent. Upon entering, there was visible sand and dirt on the already dirty tile floor. I unders... Read more

We have been coming to Sanibel and Song of the Sea for about 10 years. We love this hotel. Quaint, quiet and feels like old Florida. We like the changes the new owners have made including new umbrellas, wake boards, and kayaks. Although we don't use the stove (because I am not cooking on vacation), we do enjoy the full size fridge and dishes. The free breakfast is outstanding and always fresh. The bikes are in good shape and a bonus. I will say I wish they could put more chairs and umbrellas ... Read more

This was the 4th time we have stayed at Song of the Sea. Before we arrived I called to see if we could get an early check-in. Called when we arrived on the island and checked in early. The room was spotless and as requested we had a bottle of white wine. Each day breakfast was excellent. We rode "new" bikes, always had clean towels for the beach and each afternoon had freshly baked cookies! Housekeeping services were flawless, we left in the morning to go to the beach and returned to make lunch ... Read more

One staff member -- the one setting up the chairs for the next door resort -- even gave us a quick lesson on paddle-boarding. Really made our day to have someone so helpful! We love Sanibel and Captiva islands in Florida. This was our second trip and we were able to stay longer this time (four days). Sanibel is one of those quiet, lazy beach towns with not a lot of big brand businesses and shops to clutter up the scenic views and roads. It's very laid back and the residents there enjoy their quaint community with it's beachy charm. Visitors are welcome for sure, but they are not catered to like some beach communities. My wife wanted to visit Sanibel Island for a couple of days, so I turned to TripAdvisor to find a nice, quaint, boutique-type property.
