This hotel was top notch in relaxation, friendliness and activities. The hotel offered bikes, kayaks, tennis courts and paddle boards. At 49, I decided the paddle board was worth a try. One of my proudest moments in my life to accomplish something that seemed unlikely at my age-my husband certainly thought! Loved the bikes! Got my husband on a bike after 38 year hiatus. We didn't ask for a helmet, but I wondered. He did fine and we peddled his heart out. I was good to head to Captiva but he was ... Read more

This Hotel turned Resort style is the perfect location to be on Sanibel Island. So conveniently located with access to many eating places and shoppes. It is even just a short drive into Captiva where you can find more places to tour, eat and shoppe. Venture out of your Resort living area door and you are just steps away from the beach. You can also enjoy a nice heated swimming pool, shuffle board, tennis area or grab a bike to go for a pleasure ride. There were plenty of lounge chairs and sha... Read more

This was the perfect inn to stay for our 45th anniversary. Very quaint with beautiful grounds right on the Gulf. Mature palm trees shade the beautiful grounds and hammocks offer perfect relaxation. Our room was great with the most comfortable pillows and beds we have ever had. My wife is ordering the pillows! All staff were very friendly, especially Jesus. Today is the last day the inn will be a Holiday Inn property. As of tomorrow it will be privately owned as Sanibel Island Inn. Only ... Read more

Let's be clear this is in no way a "resort". It's a motel with doors opening to the outside and no elevator facilities. We used IHG points and despite having a screenshot which stated no additional fees to be paid the hotel decided that they do not have to comply with IHG rules so would not honour this. One employee snorted when I mentioned IHG and said "they are history" so it would appear the Holiday Inn brand is being removed. The rooms are spacious but the furniture chipped and needing re... (1) The location was great. That was about it. I booked a Rewards stay, and at NO WHERE during the reservation process or check in or anything was I ever told that I had to pay the resort fee on top of burning 210,000 points for the stay. When I asked about this, I was told that they started it since they are leaving IHG/Holiday Inn brands. Is that my problem? I talked to a guy at the front desk and he told me if I reached out corporate they would waive the fees. So basically, they're char... Read more

This hotel was a complete dump. A well respected brand like the Holiday Inn should not be attached to the name of this hotel. I wished I could have cancelled when we arrived as the treatment we received at the front desk was the tell tale sign of what our experience would be. The clerk could not answer any of my questions regarding what the resort fee covered. I knew I had to pay it I just wanted to know what resort services were included. She was not friendly or even courteous. Fortunately, a... Read more

The hotel has direct access to a private beach w lounge chairs. There is a $25/night resort fee added to your room charge. Rooms are very comfortable with excellent bedding. Grounds very nice and a small bar near the swimming pool. I would certainly recommend this property.

I will try to cover all the bases in my review and then it's up to each person to decide whether this is a good option or not. For my wife and I, it was perfectly fine as a lodging option, though we got such a good deal (price) that swayed our thinking. Price: I paid $139/night in mid January booking through Priceline. That is an outstanding deal and was the deciding factor when we were looking at condo's and single rooms to stay at. Using Priceline, I knew we would get the old Holiday Inn ... Read more

This was the fourth time my wife and I have stayed at this location, and never had a complaint or problem. I'm not sure if there was a change in management, but this was the last time we will stay here. The grounds are very nice and well maintained. The beach is a short walk depending on your room location. The rooms are nicely decorated. This is the reason for two of the stars. The rooms are a bit cramped and the bathroom is claustrophobic. The (two) sinks, however are outside of the bat... Read more

My husband and I visited Sanibel for the first time and had made arrangements to stay here because of the close location to the beach. The hotel was dated, but clean. The housekeeping staff were super and the grounds were well maintained. There were no restaurants nearby and the continental breakfast consisted of juice, coffee, and tasteless prepackaged Danish and muffins. Some fruit or yogurt would have really been appreciated. The resort fee ($25 per day) plus county and state taxes on th... Read more
