Great location! The property is beach front, which was nice. The room was nice. Clean and comfortable. The staff was also very friendly. Jesus was very accommodating and has answers to all of our questions. Beach chairs were plenty! The tiki bar closed before sunset (as does most of Sanibel). The on Site Restaurant Starfish was excellent! Amazing sushi! (closes at 9pm) Sanibel is NOT a place to go if you are looking for night life!

Rooms are not beachfront, but the beach is a short walk by the pool and Tiki bar. Lounge chairs provided on the beach, and hammocks under the palm trees. Rooms are typical motel rooms, comfortable and clean. Wifi works well. Management is accommodating.

Best value on Sanibel Island! Right on the beach, free lounge chairs, excellent pool not real big but nice with a Tiki bar. Room was dated but clean, staff members were very friendly. Located near shopping and excellent restaurants. Why pay more when you can stay at this Holiday Inn and have a great time!

Just steps to the beach. Great, friendly pool bar. Same for on-site restaurant. Room - well it is an old exterior room entrance hotel - so not for everybody, especially if you are concerned about car headlights shinning into your room - and a feeling of lack of security. Room is also quite dated (low counters, small bathroom etc.) definitely is your grandpa's old Holiday Inn, not one of the new ones. Bed was comfortable however, which matters most...and the location on the beach.

My wife and I stayed at the above location for a two week period (3/9/2016 to 3/23/2016), and I am writing to express my complete disappointment with the entire stay. From the moment we arrived and checked in through the checkout time, I must say that the cost, the service, and the accommodations were dramatically disappointing, and not in keeping with what I expect from a resort flying the Holiday Inn banner. First, let me start with the reception. I completed the registration process an... Read more

We recently checked into this Holiday Inn for one night. I have platinum status and usually like IHG properties.. We checked in at 1 am and checked out at 8 am, and was charged a $25 resort fee. I asked the front desk associate what it was for ... I was only sleeping there for the night and told him I would not be using any of the amenities he mentioned, which was basically.... the pool. He said everyone pays it no matter what. It really is a glorified Red Roof Inn.... basic rooms with no ... Read more

This is going to be an honest review starting with the good: Beds are comfortable. Rooms were clean. Motel was very quiet. Wifi was reliable. Housekeeping staff was very nice. Location was excellent for shelling, right on the beach. Let's move on to the cons: The hotel restaurant and bar by the pool are closed. We were told they were shut down for serving minors - I have no idea if this is true or not. This was a huge con for us as we chose a hotel that had food so we didn't have to drive for... Read more

The Holiday Inn Sanibel Island Motel needs to be removed from the Holiday Inn brand! This is not the hotel you are expecting under the brand of IHG in anyway. The front desk management is rude upon entering the front door and irritated that you have arrived, this seems to be a recurring theme. The property has gone down to an extreme level that we will never stay here again unless new management, ownership and a complete remodel occures. We are top level rewards program members and afte... It tries. The location is this property's saving grace. Very outdated bathrooms in need of an upgrade. Bed was uncomfortable. Continental breakfast was cheap. 24 hour coffee in the lobby was good. The beach is beautiful. Starfish and sand dollars everywhere. There's a picnic area and chairs that the staff sits out every day. The pool was great, and there is a shell washing station and washing machine / dryer. Noseeums are an abundant pest problem, Deet 40% helps. Two "ponds" on eith... Read more

The hotel is clean, that is where I always start. The rooms are basic but do have microwaves, mini-fridges, beach towels, small table-chairs, plenty of beach loungers , and bikes. The beds were very hard, sort of like sleeping on a pool table. A nearly dried up pond hosted several turtles, so that I didn't mind. The landscaping was eclectic and I enjoyed it. The pool and beach were great, prettier than the pictures on the website. The beach access was stunning. The title of my review was a stick... Read more

First night stayed in 106. 2 double beds. One of the beds had a large reddish stain on the comforter and the pillow case had a stain as well. I just slept in the other bed because it was late and I was exhausted. Lights went out due to a storm for 2 hours so that was frustrating. Reported the incident the next morning. Front desk said they'd take care of it. I decided to stay another night and was moved to 226 as my 106 room was rented out for the rate I paid. 226 shower wouldn't drain so I prop... Read more

My husband and I stayed here a few years back, and returned a few days ago because we love the location right on the beach. The entire resort has recently undergone renovations: the bathrooms include large ceramic tile walk-in showers and new counter tops with double sinks. Wow! This was not what we expected, since there were so many great reviews. I paid $259.99 for a mediocre room! The place is very dated. BUGS! Why didn't anyone mention that! As soon as you check in you are cautioned to get bug spray as there are lots of No-see-ums, especially at dawn and dusk. When I told the gentleman upon checking out that I was disappointed in the price paid for what I actually got, he said that there were major renovations in the plans. My suggestion is to wait for those before staying here. We were forewarned that the restaurant and tiki bar had recently closed, but what they offered for "grab and go" breakfast was laughable. One of my favorite shirts disappeared while we were there. It may still turn up, we'll see.

Once we settled on a destination, we found this place, the staff was great, but the rooms were a bit dated, not sure how long the property has been here, but you could tell it wasn't the most up to date hotel on the island, not a bad place to stay, just nothing special, we rode bikes and ate at the local restaurants and enjoyed our stay.

Stayed at this hotel September 4,5,6. Booked the reservation online at a site claiming to be Holiday Inn. When we arrived we found the accommodations acceptable but not exceptional. Nice thing was that it was right on the beach. Rooms were average and not particularly clean or modern. Thought that it was nice that they provided beach chairs and towels. The restaurant was closed, and the lobby was outdated. I had booked the room for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night for a total of 557 dollars at a... Read more

Nice little hotel. Grounds are nice and well kept. Room was kinda clean (floors full of sand). Loved the short walk to the beach. Tiny pool and tiki bar food not very good. What I hate the most is those $25 fee (per day). Really? Well, I can come back but rather look for other hotels more suitable for the price.

I only stayed one night and wish I could have stayed more. The hotel is off of the main road (no noise) and on the beach. The grounds are well landscaped and the front staff were friendly. Beach towels and chairs are available. Room furnishings were nice. The free breakfast was nothing to write home about (prepackaged pastries, juice, coffee) but was free. This is a very nice Holiday Inn.

Nice place to stay on Sanibel. Clean comfortable rooms. Close walk to the beach. Loved the pool deck outback with the bar. Good tropical drinks and tasty appetizers. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed with my husband for 3 nights. The hotel is Motel style rooms that are common in USA, so no balconies or terraces to sit on. However the room we had was a good size, well appointed, clean and well serviced. The only complaint was the terrible complimentary breakfast. It consisted of grab and go style packaged muffins and croissants that were really dry and tasteless. I know it was free, but frankly inedible. Also there was a noisy air conditioning system, but to be honest we have come ac... Read more

We spent a couple nights here on our first trip to Sanibel Island. We will definitely be back. It's right on the beach, everything was nice, comfortable. We found tons of nice shells all within a quarter mile of the holiday inn. If you are shelling, the best is the hour before low tide.

I loved the tiki bar by the pool, the outdoor ping pong table and hammocks all between the hotel and the beach. They had bikes on site you could rent for cheap and ride all over the island on all the great bike paths. We never used our rental car! During the summer you can even ride to their very nice farmers' market

This is truly a motel in the true sense of the word. You park right outside your room. It is dated, but clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and the location is great. I would stay again with no hesitation.

My finance and I checked out this Holiday Inn to see whether we could have our wedding, wedding party and festivities at this facility. This hotel was next to a house we were renting and it made for a convenient and efficient location for our event. We were to have approximately 50+ people in attendance and 12 rooms to be rented with approximately $10K-$15K in revenues to be generated by the hotel. Seems that everything could fall into place easily enough. Well came the heartache. The GM of... Read more

This is an older Holiday Inn, but well maintained. Hotel staff could not have been any nicer. Easy access to beach and hotel provides lounge chairs on beach and poolside. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed there a few years ago and liked to location etc. but the property was showing its age and looked "tired". My understanding is that they are under new management and it shows. The place has been painted, the rooms refreshed, the pool area updated and p[ool furniture replaced with new. We were very satisfied, the room was attractive and the whole place felt cared for.

We where driving from the keys and needed somewhere for a couple days before guests left our holiday letting which we own just up the road, so quick call to holiday inn on morning before got us a room, front desk service was good although i think $35 charge to replace your $50c bracelet they give you on arrivals a bit cheeky the breakfast is grab and go which is fine but its very disappointing considering the size of the hotel and location The pool area is very tidy and i had heard down the gra... A good size room, very clean, good service from front desk staff. Kitchen undergoing renovations which should be completed by December therefore dining on site unavailable apart from breakfast which was well below the expected Holiday Inn standard. Assurances from the Hotel that this will improve once renovations complete. Hotel staff on the front desk did recommend a restaurant 5 minutes drive away which we visited on 2 nights as the food was very good.

I know most hotels in resort areas do it, but if its a mandatory fee it should just be included in the room rate. Other than that, the hotel was clean, and a nice location for the beach and the rest of the island. The room was clean and covered the basics. The grab and go breakfast is pretty useless since they already had coffee in the lobby.

This hotel is kind of "motel" style. That's not a bad thing. I just wasn't sure what to expect. I was thinking it would be more like a tall hotel and it's not. That didn't matter to me though. We had a king bedroom and it was good. The room is very minimalist. Not much too it. But it was clean and comfortable and just what we needed for our trip. The bed was a bit firm and I wasn't sure how I'd sleep. But to my surprise, both me and my husband slept great! The beach was perfect. They provide... Read more

There's no gym or fitness room, though the listing on Booking.com plainly says there is one. What modern motel doesn't have at least a basic fitness room? The contemptuous attitude at the front desk was, "We have no responsibility for what it says on Booking.com. If you want a refund, talk to them."

Booked here through Expedia a few months ago for thanksgiving as we wanted to visit Sanibel. The restaurant wasn't available and breakfast was a complimentary grab and go style so we didn't bother. There was a resort fee of $25 per room per night. The room was clean but a little outdated. The shower was lovely and big with no end of hot water. The toilet was in the same room as the shower and space was very tight. The two basins were outside of this space. The tea and coffee making facilities... Read more

My friend and I stayed there for 2 nights during Thanksgiving weekend. We got two rooms that had a shared internal door which was great! The rooms were nice, comfortable and clean. The staff both at the reception desk and the pool bar were friendly and helpful. Private beach was the best feature!

We have stayed here several times over the last 2 decades. This last time was as nice as the first time. Everything was extremely clean. Everyone was friendly. We booked at the last minute and the hotel was not full. The prices were very reasonable for Sanibel ($150 with AAA discount). It's right on the beach. There are only a few rooms with beach views, but that's ok with us. There are beach chairs available for guests, and the hammocks and palm trees are so inviting. I can hardly wait to go ba...
