"The view was great but the hotel needs some improvements. There was a moldy smell though out the hotel. The locking bar on the sliding glass door was broken. We got locked outside of our room on the patio. So couldn't enjoy the patio, without leaving door open which sucked the AC out of the room. We went to walk on the beach the first night and the pool area was dimly lit so we didn't see the boards put across the opening and my husband and I both walked into it and fell. We had lovely scrapes and scratches on our lower legs. The coffee cups were not cleaned or replaced and I had to hunt down housekeeping to get coffee and sugar for the next morning. Would not return - at least not at $200 a night."

"The Dolphin was very family oriented! Shuffle board and beach volley ball right beside the pool. A pool side restaurant for convenience and lots of tables with umbrellas. The pool was big and warm with plenty of lounge chairs. The beach was just steps from the pool and very beautiful and clean. The location was extra convenient with a shopping strip across the street with a CVS, Publix, restaurants, etc. The staff was slow to clean the room everyday. More than once, if it was after 4:30 we would just get clean towels and tell them to skip us because we were in from the beach and ready to shower and relax before dinner. The room had a nice view of pool and beach and was extra big. It did have a microwave and big portable size fridge. No utensils of any kind were provided(except plastic cups) so we had to grab plastic ware whenever out. The beds were not very comfy and were only doubles. With the extra space in the room, I would recommend upgrading these beds to Queen size."

"Dolphin Beach Resort was excellent. Our Gulf View room was great. The staff was very attentive, and we were very pleased with them. The location cannot be beat for shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and beach activities. It is not a five star resort, but the staff and location makes you think otherwise. We used the local freebeachrides.com service and it is awesome for getting around without having to drive. I will recommend the Dolphin Beach Resort to friends."

"If you are looking for a quiet beach hotel this is a great choice. An ocean front room literally walks out to sand with a great view. No other hotels are this close to being on the sand! There are not a lot of amenities like some other resorts nearby. It's an older hotel (like a Day's Inn) type. There is a nice pool and tikki bar with decent prices. We really enjoyed are stay there with two teenagers. The only drawback is musty smelling room, paint chipping in bathroom from being painted so many times, and no pool towels. Other than that it's in a great location on a perfect stretch of beach."

"Although it was an older resort hotel, it was pretty clean. The few things that did not add to our comfort was the overwhelming moldy/mildewy smell when we first entered the room and that same smell was in the dresser draws also. The clothes we put in the dresser ended up having a faint moldy smell. The hand towel rack was broken and the shower drained ever so slowly. We would probably not want to stay there again."

"Just returned from a lovely stay at Dolphin Beach Resort. The hotel is small and older but was very clean and the staff was friendly. We chose a beach view and our balcony was literally over the sand. If you want to be even closer, request the first floor, where the patio opens right to the beach. (It even comes with lounge chairs). There was a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker in the room. The TV reception was not great but I wasn't at the beach to watch TV so not an issue. :-) One note... you will need to bring your own beach towels as they are not provided.

The property is located directly across the street from a small shopping center with a Publix, CVS and ice cream shop. The onsite restaurant was affordable with very good food.

The beach was beautiful and was groomed each morning. The pool was large and clean and there were plenty of chairs.

If you are looking for a high-end resort experience, this is not the place, but if you are looking for an affordable vacation in a clean, well-maintained property I would recommend the Dolphin Beach Resort."

"hi recently this resort at st. petes beach, it was really nice, nicely decorated, not deluxe of course but very pleasant and good lcoation. right on the beach. poool nice, outdoor music, there is very much traffic especially when you get further up the gulf blvd. towards clearwater. johns pass very nice, nice shops and nice atomosphere. bookit had rthe est rate as we heard other outrageous rates quoted by the front desk when we were there. i am so happy that i found this thru bookit. we were there with our kids 13 and 16 yr old."

"We had a great pool/ocean view room. Worth paying a little more for than the street side. The room deck was great because we were the only room without a tree in front of it. The ocean/beach is super close to the pool & hotel and was great for us with the 3 boys & the beach gear. Rooms were older & nothing fancy but clean and no musty smell. Not a good security system on the building but always staff around and a night guard was on duty and we did not ever feel unsafe which is nice for 2 women traveling with 3 kids.
Beach was clean and wide and the shell collecting kept them busy all day. Close to lots of sight seeing and several nice dining spots are close. I suggest the pizza/italian place in the mall across the road. Maybe some more soundproofing in the rooms might help. Would go back to this spot again because it was very low key and calm with nice karaoke @ poolside bar and housekeeping was friendly."

"When my family and I got one day early we spoke with the clerk and he was very nice and said that it would not be a problem for the rate at $109.00 dollars a day but when we came to the counter there was a different clerk and was not friendly at all. He told us that it would coust 259.00 Dollars for the day and he did not care if we were one day early..So we were force to go and look for another Hotel....The only reason we came back was because we had friends staying there for week. But the clerk at the front Desk was NOT FREINLY AT ALL OR WANTED TO WORK WITH US AT ALL ...MY FAMILY AND I WAS FORCE TO GO LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE..POOR VERY POOR STAFF."

"My teenage daughter & I stayed for 8 days & 7 nights for spring break. The staff was fabulous!! They were upbeat & always went out of their to make our stay pleasant. The outdoor bar/resturant was reasonable priced, food was prepared quickly after ordering. The pool & grounds were well kept, beach was always raked and clean. Can't think of one complaint. If you are looking for a place to kick back and relax, this is the place to be!!"
