We arrived on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 around noon. Check in is normally 4pm but since the weather was kind of rough, they let us check in early. (Note: If you check in early, there is normally a $50 charge but since the weather was kind of rough, they waived that fee for us). "Lola" at the counter was very pleasant to us. She asked us if we wanted the 2nd floor, 4th floor or 6th floor and we chose the 6th floor. We went to our room (#624) and were happy with what we saw. The room had tile flo...
The room had tile floor (a must in our opinion of a beach front room), 2 beds (both of which were so very comfortable), 4 chairs, a safe, microwave, fridge, hair dryer, nice 40 inch TV, iron, ironing board, desk and balcony with a table and 2 chairs on it. We knew we would not be in our room most of the time and we are not super picky so this room suited us just fine as it looked exactly like the pictures on the website which was what we expected. The hotel looks like the pictures on the website. We went down to the pool and got in. It was a cloudy day but still, nice enough to get in the pool. Yes, the pool is a little bit smaller than it appears in the pictures, but it was still fine to us and didn't stop us from getting in and having fun. Yes, there were kids there but if it IS a family hotel so you need to be aware that kids WILL be there. All of the kids were very well behaved and just being kids. The pool is round and goes under the rocks but it is about the same size as a normal pool. Not a big deal to us. So was the hot tub. There is a bar down by the pool as well so we had a few drinks there. It was my husband's birthday, so "Russ" the bartender gave my hubby a birthday shot and we had the best conversation with him. He was so incredibly sweet to us. We had no trouble sleeping at night either and the wind was pretty strong but you'd never know it from our room. We didn't hear anything or anybody at all and I am an extremely light sleeper. The breakfast was so much more than we expected from a "continental" breakfast. We live in Missouri and are used to only fruit and bagels for a continental breakfast, but this place had biscuits and gravy, egg and cheese omelets, oatmeal, oranges, apples, toast (white, wheat and raisin), coffee, apple juice, orange juice, white milk, chocolate milk and water. I've seen some people complain about this in their reviews, but we were totally fine with it. We would get our breakfast in a to go box and take it to our room and eat it on the balcony while looking at the ocean and the beach. We loved it. No, it was not a 5 star breakfast, but we would eat it again; plus, it was nice not to have to leave the hotel to go get it. We checked out on Friday morning August 12, 2016 and did not want to leave. The only thing I would complain about is the air conditioner. We stayed at a Days Inn in Dothan, Alabama prior to arriving at this one in PCB and had the same complaint so it must be a Days Inn thing. GREAT ROOMS, but the air conditioning in both hotels was just not the best. That is one area that greatly needs work. Because the a/c didn't cool as well as I had hoped it would, I turned on the humidifier in the room. That didn't work well because it leaked all over the floor, so I put a towel down and turned it off. I will most definitely come back as long as the air works better. That would be the only deal breaker for me in the future as I just cannot handle not having cold a/c. The air conditioner in the lobby was much better. If they could get the rooms that cool, they would have us as customers for life each year as we have decided to come to PCB at least once or twice a year from now on and we would like to stay here again. We really liked that all rooms were beach front. You would enter the rooms from the street side and they would go all the way to the ocean side. We've seen some rough reviews of this hotel, but we didn't agree with them. We are not hard to please; BUT, we are also not pushovers either. We don't just accept the first thing that comes along and we do have standards. We do expect a great bed to sleep in and a clean and tidy room especially for the money. We've stayed in nicer hotels but this one IS on the beach, IS a family hotel and it DID suit us for this trip. This room could use a little updating but that didn't disappoint us as again, it looked exactly like the website picture so there was no false advertisement there at all. We had hot water, good water pressure and were pleased overall. The employees were all so kind and pleasant to us. The beach access was nice with a shower to rinse off before you entered the hotel. PLEASE FIX THE A/C and make it colder. Do that and we will be back sooner than expected.
