Hotel room was large and comfortable. Service was outstanding. This was our first time staying onsite and we will always do so in the future. Being able to go back to the hotel for a mid-day swim and just relax was wonderful. The only issue we had was the mini fridge we were given was loud and did not cool well. If you plan to use the pool and want a shaded area to sit you will need to get there early as these areas go quickly. Our favorite part of this hotel was the harbor piazza. It was beauti... Read more

I booked the trip for myself and my granddaughter as a gift for her college graduation. We wanted to stay on-site due to the amenities and easy access to Universal Studios. Our entire stay was amazing. The entire staff from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was above above average. The only suggestion I would make, is to have more a more affordable a diverse restaurant choice.

After returning from a 3 day Disney Dream Cruise (Pt Canaveral separate TR), we booked 3 nights at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studio for our visit to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. Best part of Portifino is the boat service to Universal and the Express Pass that comes with the room. There is a Starbucks on property, so early am departure to the park with coffee is a breeze. Our room was large. There were issues with the room (handles that came off the doors, non-working safe, maids who did not leave enough towels, etc...). I've stayed at all three Lowes properties and would likely go back to Royal Pacific next trip and save the extra $100/night.

A first class hotel with hotel rooms above various restaurants and bars. These are set around a lagoon with a jetty and frequent boats to ferry you right into the heart of Universal studios. Meals and drinks are very expensive but there again you are paying for a unique hotel. Staff and service were excellent but to be honest there is more to do in Disney perhaps mainly because of the larger number of parks. The exterior setting of Hogwarts and HPoftter is amazing but for the interior is not as w... This hotel was perfect for what I was looking for. I went for a couples get away to see the Harry Potter parks. We stayed in the west wing, which was the closest to the water taxi. That saved us lots of time from walking around the whole resort when we were rushing to the parks for early admission. When the parks closed the water taxi ride was gorgeous at night, and then quiet when we docked. Restaurants were busy, but the foods worth the wait. Grounds are very well kept, staff is great. A lovely property that we have stayed at multiple times as Annual Pass and Loews YouFirst program members. We have stayed at all the Universal On-Site hotels (both club and "regular")and while each has its own benefits, the Portofino is by far our favorite for a relaxing, refreshing get away. You can experience both the parks and then return to lovely property to relax. Exceptional service from Daniella at the Front desk on this trip. Great Hotel. Beautiful views. Suggest requesting harbor view. It is worth it. Note that the hotel has great restaurants but does not participate in the Universal Dining Plan. When we return we will not be getting the Plan. It is a bit further away from the parks but the water taxi is a wonderful way to travel.

I just checked out after staying three nights and had no issues ... Until today. I got up before sunrise to catch my flight and when I started out the door, I noticed something small moving on the bed. When I inspected it under the light, I knew exactly what it was - a bed bug. Even pulled a photo online just to be certain and I was so sad to confirm it. I always check my hotel room before I settle in to make sure there are no signs, but this hotel and the room looked so clean. My bad. I told th... Read more

Such a nice spot! The people were quite helpful and welcoming upon walking in, and were more than happy to help with luggage as well as give a brief tour of the facility which includes multiple little shops(Starbucks) nice rooms- great pool! Only thing I would say is I got sick to at the park and needed to come home for the day, it took forever to get back to the room because it's pretty far away from the parks, however there is a ferry to take you to and from.

Our travel agent is part of the Virtuoso Luxury Travel group. We received a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful room overlooking the "bay" area. The room was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised with our welcome fruit and drinks. The a/c went out a few hours after we checked in. We called grounds maintenance and they arrived within 15 minutes. He did a lot of work on the system and got it back to working condition. The rest of our stay was lovely!

Good hotel, very clean but plumbing a little noise. Not cheap but the Front of line access makes it worth it. Didn't stay long enough to try most of the facilities so can't comment on those. The staff are all friendly though and the place is exceptionally clean. The layout can be confusing until you get to understand it.

The hotel was nice not but did not feel it is worth the high price. I feel the FastPasses are built into the price. If you are doing it for the passes than not bad but if you have no interest in them than not necessarily worth the cost. You can probably get something nicer for less. We did for the fast passes but honestly I liked Cabana Bay better myself.

We stayed in a room facing the bay - felt like you were in Italy. The mattresses were absolutely superb - best night of sleep ever. Stayed here four four days in July. Park is located in Universal. You can walk to park- about 15 min. Pretty setting. Ample food choices on hotel grounds. Nice pools. Not much shade, unless you are lucky enough to get an umbrella. Food and drink service at pool. The whole Italian facade is a bit overdone and hokey, but you are able to get into Universal and Harry Potter an hour early!!

Well, checked in today having spent six nights at the Ritz Carlton. OK, so the Portofino is well located for the Universal park, but, the quality is similar to a UK travel-lodge, not great, basic, and I want to go back to the Ritz Carlton. We stayed in villa room 2579. A little far away from the lobby but close to the swimming pools, which was great. We had passes to Portofino Club, but other than breakfast, we were never there, due to staying at Universal until the park closed. I'd suggest that the Club room be open until at least 2300 hrs, so people returning from the park can access this Club for drinks/snacks. The included Expres... Read more
