"I took my Mother and Daughter to Orlando for a short Spring Break Vacation. I picked this hotel because it advertises newly remodeled rooms and it's towards the beginning of International Drive- so conv. to Universal, Disney, and Holy Land Experience. My mother has COPD and upon walking into our room she about fell down because the paint fumes overwhelmed her. Since it was Spring Break- we decided to try air the room out and just deal with it because of limited availability around us. We ended up leaving after 4 hours because the room airing out did not work, the toilet ran constantly after being flushed (and yes I jiggled the handle), one of the beds had blood on the mattress, and the other when sat on - on one side - the other side flipped up into the air! With all the bad exeperience though, I have to say the gentleman that checked us in (and out) was very nice and understood totally- saying he was sorry there was nothing more he could do for us. If I were single- and wanted a cheap place to stay for myself- this would be it. However, if you have a family- don't stay here! It is not worth the grossness!!"

"I could just say DITTO to the other reviews. I should have read them first. It is not a resort. I had to pay an extra resort fee of $5.00 a night. There was a huge pool and the refreshment stand was not open, and that was all there was for the resort. The toilet had mold in it. House keeping had a toilet brush but it was not being used. The carpet was dirty with stains and was not vacuumed. The sink in the vanity section of the room leaked. The carpet was getting soaked. The fridge didn't work. The light switch at the door didn't work. We had to go in and turn on the lights at the lamps.
Only one elevator was working and it was way down at the other end of the building. The ice machines didn't work. The one working soda machine had expired soda.
We had to ask for towels and wash cloths as well as toilet paper. The shower would go from hot to cold, to warm and back to hot. If you adjust it when it is cold or warm it would burn when it went back to hot.

"Absolutely awful! The 'shuttle service' that runs to Universal has only 1 departing time and 1 pick up time (which is much earlier than the park closes) so we drove ourselves and had to pay for parking.
Our room was dirty. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the ice bucket. There were no plastic 'liners' for the ice bucket either. Of course, that didn't matter because the ice machines were ALL broken! I actually went floor-to-floor looking for one that worked, and couldn't find one. When I asked in the lobby where one was, they told me 'the 5th floor.' Nope, that one didn't work either.
There was no coffee pot or refrigerator in the room. When we asked about coffee, we were told to walk next door to the Raddison and get it there! WHAT??!! Unbelievable.
WiFi had a charge of either $7.00 or $9.00 (I can't remember which one). I can't remember the last time I had to pay for internet usage in a hotel!
The TV was the old box find (not flat screen) and that in itself doesn't bother me, but the reception was staticy!
Finally, the bed sheets were just that: one sheet, and then another decorative sheet on top of that. It had a zipper on it, like it maybe should have been a cover for a comforter, but there was nothing inside. This was the end of December and it was COLD! We needed blankets!! I went looking and found the supply closet on the 4th floor and it was WIDE OPEN. Poked my head in, looking for staff, and couldn't find any. So I went in and got my family 2 clean comforters for our beds all by myself. Really?
Towels were another problem. They were tiny and were thread bare. Also, there was no mot for stepping on the floor after taking a shower, so we had to use one of our precious tiny towels for that as well.
After getting to our room we found that 2 of our lamps had burned out lightbulbs. The next morning, we mentioned it to the front desk, and they were fixed when we arrived back at the room later. Nice that they fixed it so quickly, but insane that we had to tell them to do it!
Overall, we would never go back. If it hadn't been a prepaid room, we would have left that first night. I was close to Universal however."

"I got this resort (4 nights) including free shuttle transportation. Unfortunately this resort asked $5.00 per day to use all kind of service such as local phone, security and shuttle transportation. They said it was not available free shuttle transportation. So I paid extra money ($20) to use free shuttle that commute only one time (9:30 AM start and 7:45 PM return) to Universial Studio. Shuttle bus was usually late because of joining with other inn and hotels.
TV is old style, dirty hair dryer and shamp and conditioner were used ones.
Refrigerator was not working. I asked correction. They said Yes whenever I complaint but they did not fix anything else.
Except for only one ice machine on the forth floor, all ice machines were not working among 5 floor building.
Service is terrible. It is strange why it is resort.
Good things: new air conditioner and not noisy despite of very old building.
Extra information: no Microwave and coffee machine"

"rude welcoming receptionist. would not give us a early checkin even with rooms available. had to kill time 3 hrs. walking back and forth in the cold until 4pm . resort fee with no resort. rooms were dirty, carpet with stains. tv with almost no channels. one day my room wasnit cleaned at all. called lobby . did not seem to care that much about the matter. found and heard manager and staff talking bad about the people they were checking. found that disrecpectful. this is the worst hotel ive been in the orlando area. do not recommend this place to families or noone else. -___-'"

"As soon as we opened the door you could smell the mildew in the air. Of course, we were exhausted and after turning the a/c on the smell was a little more breathable. A $5.00 resort fee was added for parking, resort use (what resort?), and use of the adjoining YMCA. You would think parking was included in the room price. For $35, it supplied a warm, soft bed and if I wasn't completely exhausted, we would have ate the $35 and changed hotels. We also had a 1st floor room and could hear every guest that arrived (walking in the parking lot or slamming car doors)!"

"I guess you get what you pay for - BUT I had already pre-paid when we arrived we had to pay an additional $5/night to the hotel. Our first room did not have a coffee maker, phone did not work and refrigerator (that is really a cooler) did not work. We could have over looked all of that if the people about 6 doors down were not in the parking lot fussing and scaring all of the other people away.
We asked for another room and were given one, no problem. We liked it much better, BUT we had to ask for toilet tissue and coffee EVERY MORNING!! We asked them to please vacuum the floor that had crumbs all over it when we moved in. The floor was not vacuumed once the 4 days we were there. We asked for towels and wash clothes, so they left the towels on the bed, not in the bathroom and we had to call when we arrived at the room late at that night for tissue, coffee, and wash clothes.
There were only 2 people in customer service that were nice to us. The others didn't seem to care. The ice maker did not work until the last night we were there and we had to walk the entire length of the hotel to the 5th floor to get ice our last night. We were at the front of the hotel on the first floor. The first night we were told we could just walk across the parking lot to Radison Hotel to get ice, that was their hotel as well. After driving 17 hours I DID NOT FEEL LIKE WALKING ACROSS THE ROOM MUCH LESS THE PARKING LOT TO GET ICE FROM ANOTHER HOTEL!!!!
By the way, those beautiful hotel photos on their website are actually rooms and swimming pool next door at the Radison.
I WOULD NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN!!!! WOULD HAVE LEFT THAT NIGHT IF I HAD NOT PREPAID!!!!!
The only good things I have to say is when I tripped over the roots sticking up beside the side walk and fell flat of my face, the nice customer service guy came to my rescue and offered to call an ambulance - he was one of the 2 nice customer service people there. The other thing is that it only took about 10 minutes to get to Universal - the shuttle they have only runs once in the morning and once at night - so we drove and paid to park at Universal.

"It started right from the check in!!! The customer service person was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. Went to open the door to our room and it was almost like you could just push the door open without turning the handle- definitely not secure! Our room was so dirty- floor was very stained and dirty- couldn't even bring myself to look in the bathroom- I saw no evidence of ANYTHING that was newly remodeled. We made a call right then and there to go to another hotel down the street. One positive- the customer service guy didn't give us any grief for not staying and offered to 'upgrade' us to a queen suite (no thank you) and promptly refunded us our $10 resort fee."

"When I checked in I had to wait because they had no clean available rooms. When we got to the room it looked like they had not vacuumed in a month, and the floors in the bathroom ares were just as gross. When we turned down the sheets they looked dirty as well with little blood satins all over them. To top it all off we killed to roaches. They say newly remodeled but it's all half job and not clean at all."

"we arrived to the resort a little early and i go in to greet and use their restroom and of course it dirty , no soap and the floor was dirty, then we come back to check in and they ask for my name and for id and ask for their $5 resort fee a day. which i wouldnt mind paying it if i was able to use it ... they claim it was to cover the shuttle and other things the resort offered. which they didnt...the room they gave us was gross and dirty the carpet was dirty and wet .and the room had a foul smell. i went to complain after i had to record on my sony camcorder for the front desk to see, they offered the room next door , which had no comforters on the bed . the tv didnt work and no remote they claimed they call maintance and we got no response then we tried to call from the phone to the front desk and we got the raddison resort next door...they were trying to help but, did not try hard enough.. then the room the beds were off the boxsprings , pictures were not in place.. all around NO GOOD, will never recommend this place... I stayed there cause of the location , which i love I-Drive and we spent 2 wonderful days at Sea World . ive stayed in resorts cheaper than this and have gotten better service. a BIG THUMBS DOWN>> NEVER AGAIN DONT STAY HERE cause they have poor service and gross rooms. i want my money back and my resort fee because it was not plesent staying here. im making a complaint on there website."

"When I travel to a place like Orlando I am going to spend very little time in the hotel.. I am going to spend most of my time at the theme parks and sight seeing around town. All I expect out of a hotel is a clean bed and a good shower. I got both at the Metropolitan.
When I got there I was greeted by a pleasant desk clerk. My room was cleaned and I was provided with fresh towels every day. A bus to Disney was prompt every morning and returned every evening. There is also a bus to Universal Studios. A free bus to Tampa Bay to enjoy Bush Gardens can be arranged by the ticket counter in the hotel lobby if you buy the tickets from them.
There is no food service at the hotel but within walking distance there is just about any kind of food you could want from stakes to Pizza to Indian food. If you would like a buffet there is the Golden Corral about a block away. All in all my experience was very good and I would be willing to go back.The only draw backs that I found were some hotels in the Orlando area wave the $5 a day resort fee if you stay 3 or more days. The Metropolitan doesn't and it is true that it is hard to get a Cell signal in the rooms. that is because of the steel construction of the building.
If your travel needs are as I described above I recommend the Metropolitan. If you need room service and posh surroundings I recommend you go elsewhere"

"We selected this hotel due to it being 'Newly Renovated' and 50% off the normal price and the pictures appeared to be of a quality that would be acceptable. Selecting this hotel we had to pay for it totally without cancellation at arrival. We walked into a old tired looking room, rug was dirty with hair balls laying on it; the dresser handles were missing and there was black mold in the sink cabinet. The hotel's ice machines weren't working...we tried several floors. Had to go out and find a store to purchase the ice. I took pictures to share but can't seem to attach. I would have walked out and gone to another hotel if I could but didn't want to waste the money already spent. So we spent as little as we could in the hotel. The only good thing about it was that it was close to the attractions. Don't believe in the pictures supplied by this hotel and it sure isn't renovated."

"This is my second stay at the metropolitan. The location is perfect since I always visit wet n wild, universal and seaworld attractions. I noticied there was renovations going on at the metropolitan but the buliding desperately needs a paint job. The rooms needed airfreshners and the quality of the toiletries needs improvement. There was an improvement with the pool and poolside. Hopefully next visit next year I will see these improvements and enjoy my stay with my family."

"The room did not look anything like the photos online. The room was dirty!!,The elevators where at one point all broken( My room was on the 5th floor). The blow dryer was cracked I almost burnt my hand on the heating element. I was fooled into thinking it was a great deal. Don't waste your money... Pay an extra few bucks and stay somewhere else."

"DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! BEWARE PICTURES MUST HAVE BEEN PHOTOSHOPPED!!! THIS IS NOT A DEAL!!!
THERE WAS MOUSE DROPPINGS ON THE BED. THE CARPET WAS STAINED IN NUMEROUS PLACES AND DIDN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE IT HAD BEEN VACUUMED. THE WALLS WERE DIRTY WITH SPLATTERED COFFEE. TOILET WAS DIRTY WITH DRY URINE AROUND THE POSTS AND WITH WHAT LOOKED LIKE BLACK MOLD IN THE TOILET. TV, CLOCK, AND FRIDGE WERE ALL OUTDATED AND RAGGEDY. MISSING REMOTE BATTERIES AND COVER. MORE THAN HALF OF THE DRESSER AND DESK PULLS WERE MISSING AND THE OTHERS WERE MISMATCHED. SET ASIDE BEING DIRTY I DID NOT FEEL SAFE AND ENDED UP PUTTING THE MISMATCHED COUCH IN FRONT OF THE DOOR. ELEVATORS ALL HAVE BROKEN TILES -UGLY AND UNSAFE. AFTER 1 HORRIBLE NIGHT I WENT TO CHECK OUT AND THE FRONT DESK HAD A DEAD ROACH HANGING OFF THE LEDGE!!! WHEN I TOLD THE MANAGER HE IGNORED ME AND THEN THREATENED ME WHEN I TOOK A PICTURE. THEN HE JUST KNOCKED OFF AND WENT BACK TO WHAT HE WAS DOING.
iF THE SCALE IS 1-5 I GIVE IT A -5. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!"

"The resort was not up to my standards we had to kill a spider and several bugs in our room,out toilet kept running and ot took 2 hours for someone to come and see abt and the front desk was very rude we even had to call for a remote control and the refrigerator had mildew on it, I would not recommend this resort to anyone!!!!!!"

"OLD hotel that says it has undergone RENOVATIONS, but I think all they did was maybe paint the walls a new color. The property was dirty and littered with cigarette butts. The reception office was scary and some of the people staying there, looked like they might have been living in their hotel rooms for a while. There was no wi-fi in the room, and you surely did not want to sit in the reception area. The beds were hard and the bathrooms felt old and broken down. The exhaust fan in our bathroom made an awful noise like it was going to explode when you turned it on. They gave us bath towels that were about 1/2 the size of a regular bath towel and they were made of a thin rough material. I would never stay at this hotel again. The online information and images do not tell a true story for this hotel."

"The building needs some updating, the elevators hallway is scary specially at night and the elevator needs to be updated also. The linens are too old, no blankets, the bed cover needed ironing and the room furniture was falling appart. The front desk personnel was helpful. Excellent location, a little $ investment can transform this place into a A1 hotel. Sorry but the price will not make me go back until they remodel. Thanks"

"First, the room smelled. The key didn't work once you left the room and the mainentance man had to use a hanger to break in my room. Not comfortable with that!. The carpet wasn't clean, the furniture was dirty and ripped. The bathroom was nice but small. The elevator takes too long. The hallways was dirty. I won't be rooming there again."

"upon arrival, we were not welcomed by the gentleman at the service desk. Also, right when we were getting check in, we had to pay an additional fee for parking and using the pool. Once we got to our room, the refrigerator was not working, the box spring was broke, no wi-fi (there was of course additional fee if you wanted it), shower didn't drain properly, there was hair from previous guest in the dryer, ice machine was broken (only one on the property and was told to walk to the next hotel to get ice), and rust on towel racks in bathrooms. And during check out, the elevator was not operating and had to carry bags down 4 flights. When we called front desk about the issues with room that night, we kept getting hung up on. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying in Orlando!"

"The room was as good as I could assume it would be for the price. The locale was convenient to all the activities I had planned with the children. The sleeper sofa provided for a crib for the 1 year old I traveled with so that was a bonus. Had to complain about our loud 3am neighbors and was offered another room to accomodate."

"Husband and I taking the kids to Disney. The hotel was very low priced and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. It wasn't all that bad for the price but of course we had some issues. When we first arrived to check in we were provided room keys on the 4th floor just to get there and walk in on another couple that the room was already rented to so we had tyo drag our luggage back down around to the front to get another room. The next morning we start to get ready for Disney and there was no iron in the room which is listed as one of the amenities. Called down, 15 minutes later no iron, 30 minutes later no iron, so I call back down and the clerk sounds as if he is aggrevated with me, his tone was very unprofessional when an iron should have been already in the room. So we finally leave for Disney and they cleaned the room while we were gone and didn't repalce any of the towels or wash cloths we had used. Called down and they didn't have any so okay I'm thinking they haven't completed laundry. The next morning (check out) we ask for wash cloths and they still didn't have any avaialable. The kids playground was covered with a blue tarp, not usable and that was one of their amenitoes as well. Overall if you're just there for an overnight maybe even two nights its not bad for the price. Yes I may stay there again for the price and if it's just one or two nights where I would only be there to sleep."

"This hotel was awful, the first room both of the beds were broken and the stains on the carpets were so bad I was afraid to take my shoes off. The shower towels were more like hand towels, and house keeping didn't replace the towels when they cleaned the room. I had to asked to be moved to another room, had to go to the office for towels twice and to get toilet paper. The TV did not have a DVD player and only about 4 channels would even come through on theTV..I will not"

"We took a weekend trip up to Orlando to go to Universal Studio's and Island's of Adventure. Got this room for $40 a night when it appeared to be $89 normally. Later I found that the regular rate was only $50 so we didn't really get much of a deal. We got there at midnight on Friday (well Saturday technically) and there was a good 4-5 people trying to check in. There was only one person working the front counter and they clearly needed more people. They gave me a room on the 5th floor as I mentioned I had my sleeping 2 year old with me and wanted to be near an elevator so we didn't have to carry her so far. We hauled up to the 5th floor only to find our door card didn't work and I had to go all the way back to the office for a new one. Of course my daughter woke up. They not only gave me a new card, but a new room... on a different floor. I had to go back to the 5th where my husband waited with our daughter, then down to the 3rd floor. The room was decently cleaned. Towel were stocked, linens appeared clean. The mattresses were terrible as were the pillows. The walls are THIN. Both nights our neighbors were having parties in their rooms, or just being really loud. The outside seemed a bit grungy but for the price the cleanliness was what I expected it would be. Out of all ten ice machines, not ONE was working. I understand one or two being broke but ALL of them? And no signs on them to let the residents know they are all broken? Instead we went floor to floor looking for one. Finally went to the front office and was told we needed to go to the other hotel for ice... weird. The hotel is centrally located, very close to the attractions and lots of shops and things nearby. The absolute best thing about this hotel was the quick checkout. In and out in less than a minute."

"This hotel is run down! Charged and extra $10 for incidentals, parking security and shuttle. Complete BS. The breeze ways are full of water and do not drain properly after a rain fall. Huge deep puddles to walkthrough. The room had cob webs on the door frame, upon entering the room the room was dated, black mold on the wall, holes in the wall from what looked like a change in picture frames. The TV cabinet had missing handles and did not close properly. The TV worked but missing channels ABC and CBS. The safe in the room was broken and had the lock missing. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, mold on the walls also. Towels were small and very thin, a T-shirt would of dried you faster. The carpet looked well traveled. The bed does not have a comforter but an empty duvet cover, which mine had a suspicious stain on it. Two sheets one for the mattress the other to cover you. 3 pillows, 2 of which were the most uncomfortable pillows you can ever imagine sleeping on. The AC unit worked but had exposed wires coming from it and empty beer caps underneath it. The only ice machine that works is on the top floor toward the rear of the hotel. The staff is there to collect a paycheck and nothing more so do even ask for anything. The next morning I found a huge water bug (roach) under the sink. Trust me spend a couple of more dollars and stay at another place. This was not worth the trouble to save a few bucks. Universal should take some pointers and make this place a halloween horrors attraction for next year."

"We were so disappointed when we arrived at this hotel. The pictures online could not have been of this same hotel. VERY DECEIVING!! We searched thru many hotels and this one appeared to look very nice...from the pictures so we booked it online. HUGE mistake! We drove up and was shocked at how run down and ugly the hotel ended up being. BUT after a long flight and so late in the night we were hoping the inside looked better. NOPE worse! The door had obviously been kicked in a few times and didn't close tight. We walked in to torn up carpet ...turquoise paint that was not only on the walls but the lazy painters even painted the carpet and curtains. The smell of musty dirty mildew was over whelming. You could not get hot water for several minutes and then at many points during a 10 min shower the water would go ice cold. The mattress did not fit the frame and if you sat too close to the edge of the bed the other side of the mattress would lift up. Our kids were so tired and we had an early morning ahead of us is the ONLY reason we stayed. But looking back after a sleepless night from sleeping with one eye open because of the piece of crap door and hearing people yelling thru the thin walls and windows.... i regret putting my family in that disgusting, smelly, junk of a hotel. I would never ever recommend this place and highly discourage anyone from staying here. They even charged me a RESORT fee when we got there.... Resort?! This was no resort don't let the pictures fool you."
