It all started when we could not even find the front desk area. Not very well marked. Waited in a sweltering lobby for 15 mins to check in. It was 2pm, check in is 4pm. (Much later than most places we have ever been). When I finally got to the counter, guy said it would be an extra $30 to check in early. Seriously. Never heard of such of a thing, and we have stayed in hotels all over the world. Came back at 4pm to check in, waited another 15mins in the hot lobby to check in again. Finally checke...
Finally checked in. Mentioned to the unsmiling, receptionist about the $30 early check in fee, she said that it is up to the discretion of the receptionist if they want to wave the fee or not. WHAT... their choice. Anyway got to the room... The front door appeared to have been pryed open with something, and than inside security lock did not work. No towels, no soap, no lotion, hardly any toilet paper or Kleenex. Cleaning staff just a few doors over, asked for towels she hands me 2 bath towels, that's it. No soap, nothing else. When I mentioned these items, she said she doesn't have any. What... Went off for the evening, returned back, no parking, 2 large tour buses, taking up 6 spaces each, and 2 large dumpsters, taking up about 6 spaces too. Drove around in circles looking for a place, finally squeezed in behind the bus. Still no towels in the room, called the front desk, stated we would have to come and get them since no staff at that hour. I was already steaming. Asked to speak to the manager, she kept me waiting for about 15 mins, just getting more frustrated. She finally came out, when I told her all the issues, she wanted to comp us a night, but since we were only staying 1 night, I asked her if she had tickets for breakfast or such. She have me $40 worth of vouchers for "Their" Starbucks. Not a real Starbucks. Headed back to the room. Well the shower knob was broken, could not tell if the H20 was hot or cold. Wall paper coming off the wall, toilet barley flushed.
Pulled the sheets back, the sheets looked like they have been crumpled and slept on previously. However they did smell clean. No real blanket on the bed, and the top sheet felt like a table cloth. Lots of noise outside the door/next door all night.
Awoken early by what seemed like noise coming from the floor above us, in the bathroom vent. Went to the front desk to check out since I was already up and didn't want to wait in line for another 15 mins. The front desk clerk, AKA Night Auditor, Jason, was amazing. First person whom I saw smile there the whole time. He explained that there never should have been a $30 early check in fee, that would be if it is 8am, not 2pm. He was really nice, made me feel a little better, but still not happy with the place. Checked out the included "Breakfast" toast, coffee, Danish. We headed to Ponderosa up the street. Came back to use our Starbuck vouchers, got a bunch of cakes etc., I could never buy $40 worth of coffee. Gave 1 of the vouchers to the lady behind me. She was happy.
Please don't book this hotel. The only good thing about it was the location, and Jason. Other than that, it appears that no one has had any hotel training/experience.
