We stayed at SVV-ID for five nights in early November during the Swedish November-break vacation. We pulled up at the guarded entrance gate around 5 PM after we drove up from Palm Beach Gardens and were given directions to the lobby facility by the security guard. We parked right outside the lobby and went inside. In the lobby there were no ques for checking so we proceeded straight to the first available check in desk. We were greeted by Wez (or Waz, sorry I forgot) who managed the check in desk, from start to finish of the check in procedure Wez/Waz delivered one of my best check-in experience so far, business and family travel combined and that‚??s plenty! Wez/Waz took his time to explain about the property, I had requested a apartment (or ‚??villa‚?? as SVV-ID calls them) in the St. Augustine village when I made my booking and Wez/Waz said I had a ground floor in the building overlooking the pond, but I would check two see if they had something not on the ground floor, Wez/Waz found one in building 25 on the 3rd floor, just off the children‚??s pool area, perfect! Wez/Waz also informed about on how to access Wi-Fi and explained about the Go-Green option we had opt for. We were also given a map of the premises where Wez/Waz made notes wrote directions on, we also received the parking ticket to put in the car. There was a problem with one of my CC‚??s, I handed my other one and that when trough, I called my bank later and they said that my CC was locked due a suspicious transaction attempt from Vistana Villages‚?¶ I explained to my bank that, yes that‚??s what I just tried to do and they laughed and lifted the lock on my CC.
We got back to the car parked outside and drove to building 25 where we parked out front. We carried our luggage up the stairs to the third level (only later to find that there was an elevator in the other end of the building). Once we entered the apartment we felt, awesome, this looks much better than the pictures on the website where some apartments looks a little bit tired. The granite counter top kitchen was well equipped and of decent size for a vacation apartment as well as stacked with consumables like dishwasher detergents etc. Adjacent to the kitchen there was a small cabinet sized room with the washer and dryer, detergents was stocked there as well. The kitchen then continued over in to the living room where tile flooring transferred in to carpet.
The living room consisted of a TV set with BD player and a small stereo, on each side of the TV cabinet there is one small closets. A dining group with 4 chairs and a small two person sofa on the end to the wall was also placed in the living room, the TV is visible from the small sofa, perfect when the children having breakfast (or daddy watching the North London derby Sunday morning). The sofa was a three-seater facing the TV, there is also a lounge chair and a coffee table. From the living room one could access the walk out balcony, the balcony was screened of with insect net and we could see the children pool from our balcony, a four person balcony dining sit group.
The master bedroom was off left from the living room, king size bed and plenty of space, the ensuite semi-tiled master bathroom had double vanities, but not together as once piece, instead facing each other across the room. A big walk in shower where two people easily would fit, here I don‚??t understand why Sheraton did not install double shower heads since the walk in shower is more than big enough for this, also the shower head was your standard hotel shower head, a bigger more exclusive rainfall shower head would have been more propitiate to match. The ensuite master bathroom also featured a jet-tube, which we later found out was only cleaned on the surface since dirt/dust was visible once we filled up the tube and started the jet system who propelled articles in to the water, somewhat nasty‚?¶ We let it ran for some minutes and the drained the tube, wiped out and refilled the new clean tube, restarted the jet and now it looked clean. Also in the master bath there where one big closet as well. The toilet was in a separate lockable room only accessible through the master bath.
The other bedroom had two queen size beds and a similar closet as in the master bath, a smaller ensuite bath with double vanity and tube/shower combo with a glass splash screen. The toilet was a part of the bathroom and not separated. The bathroom was accessible both from the bedroom and the living room/kitchen area.
In total the bathrooms was stocked with complete towels sets for 8 persons, always nice with plenty of towels.
Overall living space was adequate for a four people family. The apartment was well maintained and cleaned, except the jet tube, on our arrival.
We cooked daily breakfast and on some occasions lunch and dinner as well, the fridge freezer (with build in ice maker) is of standard size which is really appreciated for a family with children, oven, microwave and dishwasher is also full size as well, a big + in my mind. The kitchen sink is equipped with a kitchen disposal unit/grinder. As mentioned earlier, the kitchen is well stocked and of decent size.
The AC worked fined and where quiet, there is also ultra-quiet ceiling fans in the bedrooms and on the balcony, we turned off the AC during night and had the ceiling fans in the bedrooms running on medium low speed. Since we opted for GoGreen I cannot comment on housekeeping, we once needed to have our trash bins emptied, and that was done quick and with a smile.
We used both the children pool (St. Augustine village) and the main pool, both where excellent, our children (5 and 10 yrs old) however preferred the bigger main pool but loved to take early morning and late afternoon swim and play in the children pool, the pool opening hours are very generous. There are plenty of sun beds and beach towels are collected from the pool shops. The children pool is well guarded by attentive life guards, they chat with the children and do take their work serious.
It‚??s a friendly atmosphere around the main pool, seniors, ‚??light-party‚?? people (all ages) and families with children, all getting along in harmony, some people do bring their own speakers to the pool but it‚??s all on a moderate volume not disturbing anyone else, to me this just adds to the vacation feeling, it‚??s casual and relaxed atmosphere around the main pool. No one minds if the children (and yourself) throw some football in the pool, heck people (of all ages) might ask join in our cheer from the side-line. There‚??s also a quiet area pool and pool chairs adjacent but screened of from main pool. The pools are heated, and actually heated also in reality not just by name, perfect swim and play temperature even for Mrs. Erikderek who is bath coward in general. We had drinks at the pool bars as well as brought our own cooler, no problem to bring your own drinks (soft and ‚??hard‚??)/beer as long as you don‚??t bring glass container or glass, we asked for plastic cups at the pool bars instead of drinking out of the cans, whit that said no one would mind if you do drink right out of the can. We had some snacks at the poo bars but this was not up to standard, more like your super market bought snacks and presented in the same way, there for a bit expensive regarded to quality. Drinks/soft drinks where reasonable priced, I had expect a higher upcharge, positive surprise! The bar staff is friendly and attentive.
We played some pool and ping-pong at the main pool, many years since I last played ping-pong but all those beer-pong games in the past must have made me a decent ping-pong player I realized!
We also made use of the playgrounds, both children enjoyed them, even the 10 yrs old.
The staff all around is helpful with a smile, when we one evening took some photos at the main pond, a staff member pulled up and asked if we would like him to help us out taking pictures of the whole family with our camera, this is just the one of the small nice things.
For the rate we got, this cannot be anything less than a rating of 5 from me and my family, a special mention about the check in clerk, Waz/Wez, a true top tier employee when it comes to customer service. We will hopefully be able to return to Sheraton Vistana Villages I-Drive in a not too distant future, the children and we really loved this place!
Regarding the GoGreen, please read my post in the Orlando forum for a more thoroughly explanation of the concept applied to SVV I-Drive.
